From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Ricks Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Ricks Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Ricks Township.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles because its smooth, interlocking aluminum surface prevents ice dams from forming—a critical advantage in Ricks Township, where you'll see roughly 101 cm of snow annually and about 77 freeze-thaw days per year. The lightweight aluminum (the Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even if snow accumulates, and the panels' four-way interlock prevents water from seeping into seams during thaw cycles. Snow guards are available if you want to control edge shedding, but the roof naturally encourages drainage rather than trapping moisture that leads to ice backup—something wood shake or asphalt simply cannot match in freeze-thaw climates.

Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum naturally cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes and degrades steel roofing over time. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, meaning minor damage won't trigger the rust cascade that destroys steel. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 certified) finished with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Ricks Township's 557 mm of annual rainfall and variable humidity, this chemistry matters: aluminum stays structurally sound while steel gradually weakens, making aluminum the smarter long-term choice for freeze-thaw regions where moisture persists.

What's the actual lifespan and warranty coverage of Interlock metal roofing?

You get a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—plus a one-time transferable warranty that gives the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This warranty structure reflects Interlock's real-world confidence: the company has manufactured these panels since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed them from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, proving durability across 25+ years and extreme climates. Unlike asphalt shingles (15–20 years) or wood shake (30–40 years with ongoing maintenance), an Interlock roof installed now will likely outlast your ownership and your home's next. In a 77-freeze-thaw-day climate like Ricks Township, the non-prorated structure means you won't face coverage gaps as the roof ages.

Can my house handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive structural work?

No structural reinforcement is needed—one of the biggest advantages of aluminum over slate or concrete tile. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than a concrete or clay tile roof, so it can go directly over most existing roofs without engineering upgrades or new framing. The Shake profile weighs about 0.58 lb/sq ft, also negligible compared to traditional materials. Because Ricks Township experiences about 19 km/h typical daily-wind gusts with peaks to 103 km/h, that lightweight design is an asset: the panels' four-way interlock holds firm in wind, yet the reduced load actually improves your home's overall structural stability. You can replace an old asphalt or wood roof with an Interlock metal roof without calling a structural engineer—saving thousands and simplifying the project.

Will a metal roof blow off in Minnesota's high winds and storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—far exceeding Ricks Township's typical gusts, which peak around 103 km/h. The interlock system means each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors in all four directions, preventing uplift or separation even in severe weather, and the warranty explicitly covers wind damage up to that 120 mph threshold. Installation quality matters, but the design itself is proven: panels have performed reliably in coastal hurricanes and high-altitude mountain storms. If you live in a wind-prone area of Mille Lacs County, you can install with confidence that the roof won't fail under conditions your region will realistically experience.

Does metal roofing stand up to hail, and can I get an insurance discount?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the aluminum panels survived repeated impact testing that simulates severe hail, and because aluminum is non-combustible and durable, many homeowners in hail-prone regions have qualified for insurance premium discounts. While Ricks Township's 101 cm annual snowfall and 557 mm rain are the primary weather stressors, spring and summer hail is not uncommon in Minnesota, and having a roof that not only survives hail but is warranty-protected against it can reduce your risk profile in insurers' eyes. Ask your insurance agent about metal-roof discounts; the combination of Class 4 impact rating and non-combustibility often translates to real savings.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually require compared to asphalt or wood?

An Interlock metal roof requires virtually no maintenance—no algae treatments, no annual inspections for rot or splitting, no gutter cleaning from granule breakdown. Asphalt shingles degrade from UV exposure and shed granules into gutters; wood shake splits and rots, especially in Ricks Township's 77 freeze-thaw days per year, where moisture works into cracks; but aluminum with a 30-year PVDF coating resists chalking and fading and won't splinter, rot, or need sealing. Occasional debris removal and gutter maintenance apply to any roof, but the Alunar finish on both sides of the Interlock panel means no surprise deterioration. Over a 50-year ownership span, you'll spend far less money and time on metal-roof upkeep than you would replacing asphalt twice or repairing wood shake repeatedly in Minnesota's moisture-heavy climate.

Can a metal roof actually save money on heating and cooling?

In Minnesota's 3098 annual sunshine hours, an energy-efficient Interlock color with a solar reflectance up to 0.55 (like Aged Copper Penny) bounces more heat away from your home than dark asphalt, which absorbs it. The aluminum's thermal emissivity of 0.84 and reflective coating work together to reduce cooling demand in summer and lower your electric bill—benefits the Cool Roof Rating Council has verified. Interlock's standing-seam and slate profiles come in energy-efficiency colors, giving you the look you want plus measurable energy savings. In Ricks Township's 557 mm annual rainfall and long winters, the cooling benefit matters most in the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) when the sun is strong but heating isn't yet needed; over time, that combination of reflectivity and low maintenance adds genuine dollars to your pocket.

Is a metal roof safer in a fire than asphalt or wood shake?

Interlock metal roofing is non-combustible aluminum—it will not burn—and achieves a Class A fire classification when installed to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification (the current code evaluation, reissued in 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance). Asphalt shingles are combustible and can contribute to fire spread; wood shake is highly flammable and was actually banned in some high-fire-risk states. In Ricks Township, where you're unlikely to face wildfire exposure, the real advantage is peace of mind: aluminum roofing eliminates an entire class of structural risk. Many insurance companies recognize the fire-safety value of non-combustible roofing and factor it into premiums and coverage terms. If you ever file a claim, the aluminum roof is documented proof that you've chosen the safest material—a consideration that some underwriters reward.

Is metal roofing really better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable, meaning when a metal roof eventually reaches end-of-life, the material re-enters the supply chain as raw material rather than becoming landfill waste. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, generate millions of tons of waste annually because they cannot be recycled economically and are disposed of in landfills. Interlock has manufactured and installed panels since 1998, and the company's roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209 certified) was designed to last 50+ years, dramatically reducing the frequency of tear-off cycles. Over your ownership, you'll likely never tear off an Interlock roof; the next owner might recycle it responsibly decades from now. The CALGreen certification recognizes this durability and minimal-maintenance design as an environmentally sound choice. In Ricks Township, choosing a roof you'll install once and never replace is a direct sustainability win compared to the tear-off-and-haul cycle asphalt demands every 15–20 years.
