What our customers are saying:
I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.
I wasted 4 months of my time thinking i will have a beautiful metal roof just to learn that interlock will not be able to do it after all
Interlock Roofing could have improved their communication.
I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.
We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.
I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.
My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.
To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Port Jefferson
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Port Jefferson, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Port Jefferson.
Will an aluminum metal roof hold up through Port Jefferson's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but the material itself does not degrade through freeze-thaw cycling. Port Jefferson experiences about 54 freeze-thaw days per year, which would crack asphalt shingles and split wood shakes over time. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels maintains its structural integrity through repeated freezing and thawing. The Alunar coating—warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—remains flexible across temperature extremes, so seasonal stress doesn't cause coating failure. Your roof stays watertight year after year without deterioration from the cold-warm cycles your climate delivers.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Suffolk County winters?
Aluminum metal roofs shed snow efficiently, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels resist ice dam formation better than asphalt. Port Jefferson receives about 58 cm of snow annually over roughly 1222 mm of total rain per year, creating seasonal snow loads and melt-refreeze risk. The smooth, slick surface of metal allows snow to slide off once the sun's radiant heat builds underneath. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs and retains heat unevenly, aluminum reflects it uniformly. If you want to retain snow on low-slope sections, Interlock installs snow guards. The panels themselves—rated to resist wind gusts over 142 km/h—hold firm when heavy, wet snow presses down during thaw cycles.
Will heavy rain cause leaks in a metal roof over Port Jefferson homes?
No. The four-way interlocking design creates overlapped seams that shed water downslope; heavy rain cannot penetrate the panel joints. Port Jefferson receives about 1222 mm of rain per year, including nor'easter downpours. The key is proper installation and deck preparation—Interlock installs a solid substrate and underlayment beneath the panels, just as you would under asphalt shingles. This stops water from migrating laterally if it somehow gets past the panels. Every Interlock installation includes a roof plan review to ensure water flows to gutters without pooling. When installed to spec by Interlock Roofing of America, who has served this region since 2014, the roof remains watertight.
Is an aluminum metal roof safe in Port Jefferson's coastal wind?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec. Port Jefferson experiences typical daily-max winds around 21 km/h with gusts reaching 142 km/h—well within the warranty limits. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing lateral pressure across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This mechanical interlock resists uplift and panel separation during storms. The design meets ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) for residential wind performance. Your homeowner's insurance may recognize this engineering advantage; ask your agent about wind-resistant discounts when you submit the installation documentation.
Why doesn't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofs in coastal Port Jefferson?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. The material's natural oxide layer protects it from corrosion; when scratched, the oxide self-heals. Port Jefferson is a coastal community where salt air attacks steel roofs and galvanized fasteners. An aluminum roof placed 15 km from the Atlantic experiences the same corrosive environment, but Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy simply will not corrode. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is applied to both sides of every panel—front and back—creating a second barrier. This dual-sided protection is unusual in the roofing industry and especially valuable in salt climates. Steel roofs rust from the underside; aluminum does not. Over 25+ years of ownership, this means zero rust stains, zero structural weakening from corrosion, and zero surprise repair costs.
Will hail damage an aluminum metal roof, and can it lower my homeowner's insurance?
Interlock aluminum roofs carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available for hail resistance. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Port Jefferson's hail exposure is moderate compared to inland plains, but spring storms do occur. The aluminum alloy and Alunar coating absorb impact without splitting or cracking. In contrast, asphalt shingles bruise and crack under hail; wood shakes split. Many insurance carriers offer rate reductions for Class 4-rated roofs because claim frequency and severity drop significantly. Contact your agent with the product's UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790. Some carriers provide 5–10% premium discounts for impact-rated metal roofs, which recovers a portion of installation cost over time.
Does a metal roof shaped like slate or tile need structural reinforcement?
No. The Interlock Slate and Shingle profiles weigh roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft; the Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your home's existing framing, already engineered to carry asphalt shingles, easily supports aluminum. No structural upgrades are required. This lightweight advantage also means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, eliminating tear-off labor and dump fees. A typical Port Jefferson home might avoid $3,000–$5,000 in demolition and disposal costs. Because the new roof weighs only a fraction of what traditional tile would weigh, your home avoids the burden that would otherwise compress joints and degrade the structure over decades. The result: faster installation, lower construction cost, and no engineer sign-off needed.
Is an aluminum metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles over 30+ years?
Yes. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times in your home's life. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—non-prorated—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the warranty transfers once for 50 years from completion. An asphalt roof costs about 40–50% less upfront but requires complete replacement twice more. Each tear-off and disposal is a major expense; each reinstallation interrupts your home. Metal roofs eliminate this cycle. After 30 years, you'll have spent roughly 2.5× the material cost on asphalt replacements alone, not counting labor inflation or disruption. Aluminum's light weight also installs over your existing roof, saving demolition costs the first time. The upfront premium vanishes when you account for the roof you never buy again.
Do reflective metal roof colors save money on cooling in the warm months?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured on Aged Copper Penny). Port Jefferson receives about 3127 sunshine hours per year; on hot days, a reflective roof bounces much of that heat back to the sky instead of absorbing it into your home. Asphalt shingles are dark and absorb solar energy, raising attic and interior temperatures. Metal reflects it. Your air conditioning runs less frequently, lowering energy use in summer. The roof also carries the Cool Roof Rating Council designation. Exact savings depend on your home's insulation, window area, and cooling setpoints, but most homeowners see 5–15% reductions in summer cooling costs. Over a 40-year roof life, that compounds to thousands of dollars. The financial benefit strengthens if you install solar panels later—the reflective surface reduces heat load, making PV systems more efficient.
Who installs and services Interlock roofs in Port Jefferson?
Interlock Roofing of America has served Port Jefferson and the greater Suffolk County region since 2014. They handle the complete process: site assessment, design consultation, code compliance (including ICC-ES ESR-1790 verification), installation over your existing roof (if applicable), and warranty administration. Their decade-long local presence means familiarity with Port Jefferson's climate—freeze-thaw cycling, salt-air corrosion, nor'easter wind gusts over 140 km/h, and about 58 cm of seasonal snow. They coordinate with local inspectors, understand municipal permitting, and can advise on profile and color choices that match neighborhood character. For warranty service or questions years after installation, you contact the same installer. This continuity—knowing your home, your roof, and the local conditions that shaped it—is invaluable. Call them for a free estimate and on-site review.
