Review: June 10, 2016 Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Stony Brook

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Stony Brook, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Stony Brook.

Does aluminum roofing handle freeze-thaw cycles in New York winters?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens under freeze-thaw stress rather than degrading like asphalt or wood. Stony Brook experiences about 54 freeze-thaw days per year with roughly 58 cm of snow, conditions that crack asphalt shingles and split cedar shake. Aluminum alloy 3105-H24 has no iron, so it cannot rust even when water pools in seams or gutters during freeze cycles. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate thermal expansion without cracking, and the 30-year Alunar® PVDF coating remains intact across decades of seasonal stress.

How does a metal roof perform under Stony Brook's annual snow load?

Metal roofs shed snow efficiently because smooth panel surfaces and proper pitch prevent ice dams from forming—a critical advantage where Stony Brook receives about 58 cm of snow annually. The Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles grip snow slightly longer if you prefer gradual melt, while Standing Seam sheds it quickly. More importantly, aluminum weighs just 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (the Tile profile is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay), so even the heaviest seasonal accumulation poses no structural risk. Snow guards can be installed at eaves if you want controlled release rather than sudden drop-off.

What prevents leaks during Stony Brook's 1,200+ mm of annual rainfall?

Stony Brook averages about 1,222 mm of rain per year, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water continuously without pooling. The interlocks create a sealed overlap on every side—water flows off the roof rather than collecting in seams. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment (as most existing roofs allow), the system performs identically to asphalt in rain events. The Guardian warranty specifically covers water intrusion from installation defects, and the material itself cannot absorb water or rot, eliminating the hidden decay that weakens traditional roofs over time.

Can a metal roof withstand Stony Brook's coastal wind gusts?

Yes. Local wind gusts reach about 142 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specification—a 35% safety margin above typical severe weather. The four-way interlocking design distributes uplift forces across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. A roof installed over an existing deck also benefits from additional mass and structural redundancy. If your property faces direct ocean exposure, the same Alunar® PVDF coating applied to both sides of every panel resists salt-air corrosion for 30 years.

Why won't my aluminum roof rust like steel roofing can?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and stains steel roofing. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer (Al₂O₃) that self-heals when scratched, even in salt-air environments. Stony Brook is in Suffolk County, where maritime humidity and occasional salt spray stress ferrous metals; aluminum in the same location simply does not corrode. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) and dual-sided Alunar® PVDF coating create a two-layer defense against weathering. Over the roof's 50+ year lifespan, you'll never see rust stains on siding, in gutters, or streaking down walls.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft—the Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, yet replicates its appearance. Most homes in Stony Brook's climate already carry 1,222 mm of annual rainfall plus 58 cm of snow, meaning your existing framing was built to handle loads far heavier than this roofing. Installing over your current asphalt shingles (no tear-off required) adds negligible weight. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms the system meets IBC/IRC code without reinforcement, making it one of the few premium roof finishes that require no structural upgrades.

Does Interlock roofing qualify for hail-damage insurance discounts?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 ratings often qualify homeowners for insurance premium reductions; contact your agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL listing 33876 to discuss your policy. Because aluminum doesn't dent or permanently deform under impact (unlike asphalt, which loses granules and develops leaks), the roof retains its protective integrity after hail events. Over Stony Brook's climate history, this durability translates to fewer claims and better long-term coverage availability.

Can an aluminum metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect solar heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Stony Brook receives about 3,127 sunshine hours per year—enough for this reflectivity to reduce cooling demand on hot days. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating quantifies this performance; reflective coatings bounce infrared energy away from your home rather than storing it in the attic. While northeastern summers are mild compared to southern climates, the energy benefit compounds over 50 years, and the coating's 30-year warranty ensures reflectivity doesn't degrade significantly.

Is aluminum roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when you compare total cost over the roof's life. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Stony Brook's climate (freeze-thaw cycles accelerate deterioration), requiring multiple replacements. Interlock's Guardian warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner, plus a one-time transferable 50-year term for the next owner—you buy this roof once. Factoring in tear-off labor, disposal fees, and reinstallation costs across three asphalt cycles versus one permanent metal roof, the lifetime cost strongly favors aluminum. Additionally, ~95% of aluminum is recyclable at end-of-life, avoiding the landfill expense that asphalt creates.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Stony Brook?

Interlock Roofing of America has served the Stony Brook area since 2014, providing local expertise in New York's coastal climate. They understand Stony Brook's 1,222 mm annual rainfall, 54 freeze-thaw cycles, and wind gusts to 142 km/h—conditions that demand precise installation of the four-way interlocking panel system. Local installation ensures your roof is warranted under the Guardian program and installed to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification. Because Interlock Roofing of America works with the same panels they've installed for a decade in this region, you're backed by both factory warranty and field experience.
