Review: June 10, 2016 Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in St. James

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in St. James, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in St. James.

How does a metal roof handle St. James winters with heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, reducing ice-dam buildup during the region's typical 54 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified weather barrier that prevents water infiltration when freeze-thaw cycles drive moisture into seams. At just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, Interlock's panels require no structural reinforcement, even under St. James's average 58 cm annual snowfall. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in repeated freeze cycles, aluminum retains its flexibility—the 3105-H24 alloy maintains impact resistance through decades of winter stress.

Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofs do?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron oxidation, which is chemically impossible in pure aluminum. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, making it naturally corrosion-resistant. This matters in Suffolk County's damp climate: the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every Interlock panel, adding an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244). Steel roofs require regular maintenance and can perforate within 15–20 years near salt air; aluminum panels installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations maintain structural integrity for 50+ years without deterioration.

What's the real lifespan and warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

Interlock backs every roof with the Guardian lifetime limited warranty—NON-prorated material coverage for the original owner and one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. The warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance; no other roofing material offers this guarantee structure. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, has proven durability through three decades of real-world installations. With proper installation, homeowners can reasonably expect 50–70 years of leak-free performance—potentially the last roof you ever install. That's why the warranty transfers: the next owner gets decades of coverage, significantly boosting resale appeal in St. James.

Will my homeowners insurance cover hail damage to a metal roof?

Interlock's panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This combination often qualifies for insurance discounts or preferred rates because the roof resists the impact damage that typically drives hail claims. Insurers recognize that aluminum's hardness and the four-way interlocking design distribute impact force across panels, preventing the punctures and splits that plague asphalt shingles during severe weather. In Suffolk County, where wind gusts regularly reach 142 km/h and weather volatility can trigger hailstorms, a Class 4-rated roof is a tangible asset. Document the rating and warranty with your insurer; many will reduce your premium immediately or deny future hail claims less frequently.

Can a metal roof withstand St. James's strong coastal winds?

Yes. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. St. James experiences typical daily-max winds around 21 km/h with gusts up to 142 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking design means no fasteners penetrate the exposed surface—each panel locks to its neighbors, creating a continuous, unified structure that flexes without separating. This is a critical advantage over asphalt, where individual shingles can lift and tear in strong gusts. Proper installation by a certified local contractor like Interlock Roofing of America, serving the region since 2014, ensures the full wind warranty applies. You're protected through nor'easters and coastal storms.

Does an Interlock metal roof actually reduce cooling costs in New York?

St. James receives about 3,127 hours of annual sunshine, making reflective roofing a genuine cooling asset. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect the heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. That reflectance reduces cooling load during spring and summer, lowering air-conditioning costs over the roof's life. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy savings compared to dark asphalt. For a roof lasting 50+ years, even modest annual cooling reductions compound significantly. Unlike asphalt, which darkens and loses reflectance with age, Interlock's 30-year coating warranty maintains reflectivity throughout decades of exposure.

Is a metal roof better for fire safety than asphalt or wood shakes?

Interlock aluminum roofing achieves a Class A fire rating (non-combustible) and meets ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 under current building codes (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025). Aluminum cannot burn—it's inert—so it offers the highest fire classification available. Cedar shake and wood shingles are Class C or D rated (combustible), and asphalt is Class A only through fiberglass backing that can degrade. In a wildfire scenario or ember storm, a non-combustible aluminum roof is a genuine safety advantage. St. James's average 54 freeze-thaw days and 1,222 mm annual rainfall don't expose you to extreme wildfire risk, but fire ratings matter for insurance classification and home resilience. An aluminum roof eliminates a common insurance concern, potentially lowering premiums or removing fire-exclusion clauses from your policy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really require?

Interlock roofs require almost no maintenance—no regular cleaning, no sealant reapplication, no replacement of failing shingles. Asphalt shingles need cleaning, re-sealing, and spot repairs every 5–10 years. Wood shakes require annual inspection, moss treatment, and regular replacement of split or rotted shakes. Slate and tile are heavy and demand structural reinforcement and costly expert repairs. Aluminum's smooth surface sheds debris naturally in St. James's typical 1,222 mm annual rainfall; gutters need routine cleaning, but the roof itself is self-maintaining. CALGreen-verified, it qualifies for reduced-maintenance property ratings in green-building programs. The 30-year coating warranty on the Alunar fluorocarbon finish means no UV degradation or chalking that forces refinishing. Over a 50-year lifespan, the total cost of ownership is dramatically lower than any other roofing type.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over a 50-year horizon—the likely lifespan of an Interlock roof—aluminum is typically cheaper than repeated asphalt replacements. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Northeast climates with freeze-thaw stress (St. James averages 54 such days annually); you'll replace it 2–3 times while one aluminum roof stands. Add tear-off labor, disposal fees, and reinstallation, and cumulative asphalt cost approaches or exceeds the initial aluminum investment. Interlock transfers the warranty to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding resale value that asphalt cannot match. Plus, energy-efficient colors offset some cost through lower cooling bills over 3,127 annual sunshine hours. Financing the upfront cost over the roof's 50-year life yields monthly expenses lower than asphalt's repeated cycle. It's the last roof you buy.

Can Interlock install over my existing roof without removing shingles?

Yes, in most cases. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (the Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile), so no structural reinforcement is needed. The lightweight design allows installation directly over existing asphalt, wood shake, or slate roofs on most homes without adding dangerous load or strain. Removal may be necessary if your existing roof is severely compromised, heavily layered, or locally required by code, but the lightweight advantage eliminates the costly structural reinforcement that would be mandatory for traditional tile or slate. Interlock Roofing of America, serving the region since 2014, will assess your specific structure during a consultation. Installation typically completes in a few days, compared to weeks for tear-off and replacement with heavier materials. You avoid landfill waste, labor costs, and roof-off exposure during St. James's rainy season (1,222 mm annually).
