Review: June 10, 2016 Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Setauket

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Setauket, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Setauket.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Setauket damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Setauket experiences approximately 54 freeze-thaw days per year, but aluminum roofing thrives in this cycling. Unlike asphalt, which hardens and cracks as temperatures swing, aluminum's 3105-H24 alloy expands and contracts uniformly without material degradation. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate thermal movement, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years against cracking and chalking per ASTM D4214—remains flexible across the full freeze-thaw range. This material was selected for installations from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica precisely because it performs in extreme thermal stress.

How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice Setauket gets each winter?

Setauket receives roughly 58 centimeters of snow annually on average, and aluminum roofing manages both accumulation and melt cycles effectively. The smooth interlocking panels shed snow and ice without the surface degradation that splits asphalt or wood shakes. When combined with optional snow guards, the system prevents dangerous slide-off while the four-way interlock resists wind uplift during nor'easters—warranted to 120 mph. The lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even with snow load, and ice dams are prevented through proper ventilation, not fought against with the material itself.

Does a metal roof leak in Setauket's heavy rain and nor'easters?

Setauket receives about 1222 millimeters of rain annually—heavier than many U.S. regions—yet four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water continuously without pooling. The mechanical interlock between panels creates overlapping seams that water cannot breach; no sealants or tape weaken over time. Installation over solid decking with underlayment (common practice over existing roofs) mimics asphalt durability but without asphalt's eventual cracking. Wind-driven rain to 142 km/h gusts remains outside the building envelope. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the system meets IBC/IRC code for water management.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust in coastal or humid climates like ours?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, a microscopically thin oxide layer forms naturally and self-heals when scratched, making it chemically inert in saltwater, humid air, and acid rain. Setauket's coastal proximity and freeze-thaw cycling (54 days per year) would aggressively corrode steel; aluminum thrives here. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides of every panel adds 30 years of additional protection against chalking and fading (ASTM D2244 verified). This dual-side coating is why Interlock panels have been installed in salt-air homes across North America since 1998.

Will my homeowner's insurance cover hail damage to an aluminum metal roof?

Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofing—the highest rating available—and Interlock's panels hold that rating. The Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, so you're protected beyond the insurance threshold. Ask your agent whether your policy credits metal roofing with lower risk (impact resistance, non-combustibility, and wind resistance to 120 mph often do). The combination of Class 4 rating and non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty removes much hail risk from your financial exposure, especially useful in a region experiencing typical gusts to 142 km/h.

Does an aluminum metal roof reduce cooling costs in Setauket?

Setauket averages about 3127 hours of sunshine per year, making reflective roofing relevant for cooling loads. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council. This means less solar heat enters your home compared to asphalt (which absorbs ~90% of incident radiation). Over a roof's 50+ year life, the cumulative cooling savings in a climate with warm summers offset the material cost—aluminum's reflectance acts like free air conditioning. Your monthly energy bill reflects the difference.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum panels are exceptionally light—the Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Because the roof weighs so little, it can be installed directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement, saving thousands in structural work. This lightweight advantage matters in Setauket, where freeze-thaw cycling (54 days per year) stresses structural connections; less weight means less cumulative stress. Asphalt shingles weigh more per square foot and degrade faster under the same freeze-thaw stress, requiring replacement before an aluminum roof needs anything but minor inspection.

How long does it take to install a metal roof on a Setauket home?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and existing conditions, but most residential jobs in Suffolk County complete in 2–4 days with the local Interlock Roofing of America team, serving this region since 2014. One major advantage: aluminum panels install over most existing roofs without tear-off, reducing labor time and landfill impact. The four-way interlocking system is designed for speed—panels lock together mechanically, not via sealant tape or fasteners that slow installation. Weather matters; Setauket's approximately 3127 annual sunshine hours mean many installation windows. Your installer will schedule around rain (1222 mm/year) and coordinate the timeline when you contact them.

What does the Interlock metal roof warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—issues that plague asphalt and wood. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding value at resale. The Alunar coating itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244). This warranty structure reflects aluminum's durability in freeze-thaw climates (Setauket has ~54 such days yearly); asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years in similar conditions, while aluminum remains intact. Non-prorated coverage means no percentage reduction as years pass.

Is aluminum roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable; at end of life, the material returns to mills for new products without quality loss. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually—a one-time use. Setauket's approximately 1222 mm annual rainfall and 58 cm snow load mean your roof will weather many seasons; aluminum outlasts asphalt by decades, so you buy fewer roofs in your lifetime. Over 50+ years, one aluminum roof replaces three asphalt roofs and their associated tear-off waste. The material was manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 using industrial recycling processes. Choosing aluminum breaks the asphalt replacement cycle—genuinely reducing your home's environmental footprint.
