Review: October 17, 2023 Completion: September 27, 2023

They did a great job on the roof, and it looks great. There was a little confusing with setting up the payments, but Rene was nice with helping me figure everything out. The system doesn't seem to have what you owe listed on there. We had to look at the invoice to determine things. I think the system could be a little clearer as to what you owe at what time. The little nails are not a huge problem. I used to do roofing when I was younger, and I understand how it works. Everyone was really nice and polite. When they did the installation, they knocked it out quickly before any rain. We did push it to the rainy season, so that was good to have it done quickly. They were really patient and responsive. If I had a question, I got an answer back quickly. I never felt like I was in the dark. This company is very customer orientated.

Review: October 4, 2022 Completion: June 21, 2022

Interlock Roofing is amazing. From the first day I met their salesman to the day they started work on our barn and house. They were very easy to talk to and express our concern about how important it was to keep our hay safe from rain and the ground around the barn safe for the animals. They were fast exceptionally clean and so much fun to get to know. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have a roof that will last a life time. Thank you for an amazing job and two beautiful roofs!

Review: November 14, 2019 Completion: October 2, 2019

COMMUNICATION!!Don't make appointments and then not show up, don't miss appointments and make customers call for days to find out why and when the new appointment will be just to not show up again. ANSWER the PHONE when people call, having customers sit without information is infuriating and just makes them unhappy from the start. So...Communication and customer service improvement would be great. We were very upset with the wasting of our vacation time, had we known you would cancel 3 appointments to install just to not show up until after the leave from work was over, we would have gone and done things on our vacation. Instead it was just us sitting around the house very angry wondering if they were going to show up at all or even call....you wasted our time, and my husbands vacation time.

Needed to put this project on hold, due to other issues that have arisen. You will be the first people we call when we are ready to roof our home.

Review: May 11, 2025 Completion: May 14, 2025

We had an excellent experience the first time with Interlock so used them again when we moved to our new home. I can’t sing praises any higher. Mike Rasmussen sold us the first time and we were lucky to have him this time as well. May and Patrick are wonderful to work with. Gregory, our installler, worked hard to get the job done single handedly when his partner had a family emergency and couldn’t continue. Our roof is gorgeous and the neighbors are slowing to look. I would recommend Interlock any time and every time! My pics don’t do it justice.

Review: January 12, 2022 Completion: December 31, 2021

We are in the middle of a lawsuit because they destroyed our ceiling by not covering the unfinished roof when it rained. They could have improved by covering the unfinished roof when it rained. I am still waiting on my lawyer to see if they are going to honor the warranty. As I have said, now my roof is falling apart.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bunker Hill

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bunker Hill, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bunker Hill.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in Bunker Hill winters?

Aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because their smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt does. Bunker Hill averages about 51 cm of snow annually plus roughly 24 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which means your roof cycles between wet and frozen conditions repeatedly. Metal roofing resists ice damming because there's no soft substrate for water to seep under. The four-way interlocking system keeps panels locked tight even when thermal expansion happens. Optional snow guards available if you need to control slide-off near walkways.

With 1500 mm of rain per year, will an aluminum metal roof leak?

No. Bunker Hill receives about 1500 mm of rain annually, and metal roofing's overlapping panels and sealed joints are designed specifically for this volume of water. Rain runs off the hard aluminum surface; there's no material breakdown or saturation like asphalt experiences. The four-way interlocking design means water is mechanically shed before it ever reaches seams. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment creates the same watertight envelope as asphalt, but without the degradation that rain causes to shingle binding and felt over time.

Can a metal roof survive Cowlitz County wind gusts?

Yes. Bunker Hill's typical wind gusts reach about 103 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing carries a warranty for wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically—there's no adhesive to fail in fluctuating cold and wet conditions. Each panel connects at four edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof assembly instead of concentrating stress on fasteners or seams. UL testing confirms this system outperforms shingle roofing in high-wind zones.

Will aluminum roofing rust in Washington's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a natural defense that gets stronger over time in wet climates like Bunker Hill's, which averages about 2835 sunshine hours per year. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of each panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adding a second barrier against moisture. Steel roofing, by contrast, corrodes from the inside out in this kind of environment.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs even in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes, especially on south-facing slopes. energy-efficient colors on Interlock panels achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and transfers into the attic. Bunker Hill gets roughly 2835 sunshine hours annually; on clear summer days, reflective metal roofing keeps the attic cooler, reducing air-conditioning demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable performance. Over a 50-year roof life, that efficiency compounds.

Do I need to reinforce my home's frame for a metal roof?

No. Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roof structures support asphalt, which weighs more; metal roofing typically goes directly over your current deck. This light weight means no structural reinforcement, no costly framing upgrades, and installation over existing roofs becomes practical. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible for most residential framing built to code.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and is the warranty worth it?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. That means you're buying your last roof; no tear-off cycle in 20 years. Material durability exceeds 50 years in Bunker Hill's climate (1500 mm rain, 24 freeze-thaw cycles annually, 103 km/h gusts). The warranty removes financial risk from the equation.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can you install over my existing shingles?

Installation timeline typically spans 3-5 business days for a standard residential roof; speed depends on complexity and crew size. Yes, metal roofing installs over most existing roofs because of its light weight—no tear-off required. Your existing deck becomes the base; underlayment and metal panels go directly over it. This approach saves time, labor, and disposal costs compared to full tear-off. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and knows local weather windows and building requirements; they handle permitting and scheduling.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable aluminum; at end of life, they have scrap value and reenter material streams. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually with no recovery path. Over Bunker Hill's 50-year climate cycle (about 1500 mm rain per year accelerating asphalt breakdown), you'd replace asphalt 2-3 times. Each replacement means another tear-off, dumpster, and landfill load. Metal roofing breaks that cycle and reduces your home's total material footprint.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each profile is manufactured from the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and carries identical durability, warranty, and hail/wind ratings. Choose based on aesthetic preference and home architecture. All profiles are available in multiple colors and finishes. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is applied to both sides, ensuring color consistency and UV protection regardless of which profile matches your vision.
