We had an excellent experience the first time with Interlock so used them again when we moved to our new home. I can’t sing praises any higher. Mike Rasmussen sold us the first time and we were lucky to have him this time as well. May and Patrick are wonderful to work with. Gregory, our installler, worked hard to get the job done single handedly when his partner had a family emergency and couldn’t continue. Our roof is gorgeous and the neighbors are slowing to look. I would recommend Interlock any time and every time! My pics don’t do it justice.

Review: October 20, 2016

We have been enjoying our Interlock roof for several months. The planning, purchasing, and installation experience was everything we expected it to be – superb. The original shingles, paper, and staples were removed. The two installers did these tasks without making a mess in the surrounding garden or the patio. A new waterproof barrier was laid out and the new aluminum shingles were installed. To my pleasant surprise, each one was nailed in with 2 aluminum nails. This gives me confidence that this roof is made to last and is an excellent value for money. The installers worked for 3 consecutive days until the entire roof was done. Site cleanup was done at the end of each day. Some days the 2 installers worked beyond “regular” hours even though it must have been uncomfortable as these were unusually hot days for this area. Now, our house is much cooler in the summer and warmer in the colder weather. We have found it be noisier in heavy rain, but not significantly so. I quite like feeling dry, warm and cozy inside while it is raging outside – we live on a mountain, exposed to the elements. Last year I would go out and count how many shingles had been blown off by the high winds. I don’t need to do that anymore. Our neighbors have given us many compliments regarding our new roof – we are the envy of our small community. Finally, I would recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof that lasts for many years. The product is outstanding.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Stella

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Stella, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Stella.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Stella, Washington?

Metal roofs shed snow effectively because the smooth, hard surface and thermal properties prevent ice damming, unlike asphalt shingles that trap moisture. Stella averages about 51 centimeters of snow annually with roughly 24 freeze-thaw days per year—exactly the conditions that crack and curl traditional shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels won't buckle under snow load; the aluminum's light weight (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement needed. You can add snow guards to any profile if you prefer to control slide-off on lower roofs. The coating warranty covers 30 years of thermal cycling without degradation.

Why won't my metal roof rust in Stella's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that causes rust in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, providing permanent corrosion protection in Stella's 1500 mm annual rainfall and high-humidity air. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish warranted 30 years against chalking. Steel roofing requires paint maintenance and eventually fails; aluminum's chemistry simply won't allow rust, making it the logical choice for your wet Pacific Northwest climate.

Will my metal roof blow off in Stella's winter storms?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Stella's typical gusts reach about 103 km/h (64 mph)—well within that safety margin. The panels lock together on all four sides, so uplift forces cannot pry them apart the way they separate asphalt shingles. Installation to spec is critical; your Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) installer knows the regional wind patterns and fastening standards. After 27 years serving the Pacific Northwest, they've installed roofs through countless winter storms without panel failure—the engineering simply works in these conditions.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood shake, or tile. Interlock aluminum doesn't require sealant reapplication, doesn't split or curl in Stella's 24 annual freeze-thaw cycles, and doesn't harbor moss in your 2835 sunshine hours and frequent rain. You won't power-wash or replace damaged shingles. The Alunar PVDF coating is warrantied 30 years against chalking and fading, measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244—so color stays. Asphalt needs resealing; wood needs stain; tile cracks and requires mortar repair. Aluminum's oxide layer regenerates on its own. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance versus traditional materials, which translates to lower long-term ownership cost.

Can I get the look of cedar shake or slate tile in metal?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each engineered to replicate the visual character of its namesake material while delivering aluminum's durability. Stella's wet, freeze-thaw climate will split real cedar shake and crack slate tile within years; Interlock's Shake and Slate profiles give you the aesthetic without that vulnerability. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile, so it installs over your existing roof without structural upgrade. All five profiles use the same four-way interlocking 3105-H24 aluminum alloy and 30-year PVDF coating, so durability doesn't vary by style.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock meets UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. In a severe hail event, aluminum panels may show cosmetic dents but won't leak; asphalt and wood split and admit water immediately. Insurance companies recognize this durability: many offer premium discounts for Class 4 metal roofs because repair or replacement claims are rare and water intrusion doesn't follow. Contact your agent with Interlock's UL 2218 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report; the data often justifies a lower rate. Stella's climate won't see routine hail, but when it occurs, you're protected.

Will a metal roof help lower my cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance as high as 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. With Stella's 2835 annual sunshine hours, that reflection adds up over months. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable cooling benefit. Even in the Pacific Northwest's temperate climate, summer reflected solar gain reduces air-conditioning demand and extends the life of cooling systems. Paired with a solid deck and proper underlayment, you also keep the roof surface cooler, slowing the thermal cycling that degrades asphalt shingles in your 24 annual freeze-thaw days.

How long does a metal roof actually last, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once, giving the next homeowner an additional 50 years from completion date. In practice, aluminum roofs installed in the 1990s are still performing; the 3105-H24 alloy and Alunar PVDF coating simply outlast asphalt's 15–25 year lifespan, especially in Stella's harsh freeze-thaw and high-rainfall environment. No other roofing product offers this combination: a non-prorated lifetime promise plus transferable long-term protection. That's why Interlock has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Stella, Washington?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Cowlitz County and the broader region since 1997—three decades of experience installing roofs in Stella's wet, windy climate. They understand local building codes, seasonal wind patterns, and the specific challenges of high annual rainfall (1500 mm) and freeze-thaw cycling. They're authorized to install all five Interlock profiles and can design snow guards, flashing, and underlayment systems tailored to your home's pitch and exposure. Currently, they're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation cost. Call them to schedule a site visit; a local contractor who knows your climate and your home's structure is worth far more than a national crew unfamiliar with Stella's conditions.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life and never requires the tear-off-to-landfill cycle that asphalt demands every 15–25 years. Stella's 1500 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress will degrade asphalt roofs faster than in drier climates; that means more frequent disposal and more landfill waste. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals, and the Alunar PVDF coating remains durable for 30 years, so the roof outlasts multiple asphalt replacements. When an Interlock roof does eventually reach end of life, the panels are melted down and reused in beverage cans, automotive parts, and new roofing—a closed loop. You eliminate the environmental cost of manufacturing and disposing of asphalt shingles three times over the lifetime of one aluminum roof.
