Review: January 9, 2024 Completion: December 11, 2023

They could have improved by having better subcontracting and a better process on figuring out who to actually hire for the subcontractors. Patrick and Ivan went above and beyond trying to resolve the issues my wife and I had with the subcontractors.

Review: November 12, 2023 Completion: July 10, 2023

I tried for several years to find a roof i would be happy with that would enhance the beauty of my property. I had been quite disappointed with the companies I was working with. When Interlock Roofing came along it was such a relief! Even though it did cost me more than other options, I feel like I received more value, especially long term, than any other offer I was considering. And I would not be as pleased with any other roofing system than I am with Interlock Roofing. Seriously, I can't think of a thing. I was surprised by everyone's attention to details. I was very pleased with the daily clean up of the job site. I have never driven down a road and exclaimed "that is a beautiful roof". Now people tell me I have a beautiful roof! It really is!

This is probably the most professional experience I have had in years. I was blown away. From the time I contacted them, they were on time and did exactly what they said they would do the whole way through. Someone is doing an excellent job of directing this company. I need to contact Paul or Ross because I have more roofs to put on. I would give them a rating of 475! My roof cost twice as much as any other bid, but I am ten times happier than I would have been with any other roof. People who see this roof compliment me on it. It will be spectacular once I finish the entire roof. The roof is stunning! There was no snow on the new roof when it stopped snowing last week; the snow simply slid off. It was incredible.

Review: October 26, 1999 Completion: October 6, 2018

What a substantial difference the Interlock aluminum roof has made to the appearance of my hundred year old house. The haunted house look changed instantly into desirable real estate. The people who sold me the house have said they wish they had asked more for it now! My previous roofer, who I have used for many years on five different roofs with excellent results; drove by and said he knew it was a good job. He also wanted to recommend Interlock roofing to another customer who wanted something better than composition roofing. The service was great, the sheet metal engineers were industrious, exacting workers, and there have been no problems with anything. It looks so solid and neat; I cannot describe it exactly, but I will never be happy with composition roofing again. The leaves slide right off so it is always clean, and shows off the gables and fancy lines of the house so well... I love it!

We are very pleased with our new roof installed by Interlock Metal Roofing. The house looks beautiful, more than I imagined. You Paul Wright, as our salesman, are appreciated for all the information about the product and the no pressure approach you do. The installers were wonderful. They were great to work with—cleaned the area around the house each night. Our house was three days from start to finish …amazing to watch. We couldn’t be happier with the service and the product.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Clearbrook

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Clearbrook, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Clearbrook.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice better than asphalt in Clearbrook?

Yes. Clearbrook receives about 35 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which accelerates asphalt deterioration. Metal roofing's smooth, hard surface naturally sheds snow and ice rather than trapping moisture. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, so snow guard attachment points are engineered into the profile. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum maintains flexibility—your roof won't crack, curl, or develop leaks from repeated expansion and contraction.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel roofs?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a microscopic oxide layer that protects the metal beneath and actually self-heals when scratched. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated with Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Clearbrook's wet climate averaging 1196 mm of rain yearly, this dual-sided protection prevents corrosion from moisture exposure on all surfaces.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get insurance savings?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists the damage that triggers claims. With Whatcom County's typical wind gusts reaching 117 km/h and occasional severe weather, a non-denting, impact-resistant roof reduces long-term insurance costs. Check with your insurer about discounts; many recognize Class 4 ratings as a risk-reduction upgrade.

Can my house support metal roofing, or do I need structural reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Shake profile installs at about 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means the aluminum system can install directly over most existing asphalt roofs without adding structural load. Since Interlock has manufactured these panels in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed them from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations, the engineering for load distribution is proven across thousands of installations. Your existing roof framing can handle the weight.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Minimal—Interlock is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. In Clearbrook's 1196 mm annual rainfall, the smooth aluminum surface naturally sheds debris and water without the granule loss, rot, and curling that plague asphalt. Unlike slate or tile, there are no cracks to seal, no wood to treat, and no moss-prone texture. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating withstands 30 years of weathering. Most owners rinse gutters and perform visual inspections annually. Asphalt requires roof-safe treatments and nail pop repairs; aluminum doesn't.

Does metal roofing help lower cooling costs in summer?

Yes, if you choose energy-efficient colors. Interlock's reflective coatings achieve thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile). This means the roof reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and indoor temperatures during Clearbrook's roughly 3005 sunshine hours annually. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance. In spring and fall, when daytime highs climb but evenings remain cool, reflective metal reduces daytime cooling demand and evening heating lag. Over 30+ years, the energy savings compound significantly.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically completes in 2–4 days depending on roof complexity and weather. Yes, Interlock installs directly over existing asphalt because the aluminum system weighs only ~0.58 lb/sq ft (Shake profile), so no tear-off is required. This approach cuts labor time and landfill waste. The installer removes ridge caps and flashing, installs metal-specific underlayment, and interlocks the panels across the deck. In Clearbrook, where 1196 mm of rain falls yearly, proper underlayment and drainage design is critical—your installer ensures water runs cleanly to gutters and downspouts without pooling.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998, so real-world data spans 26+ years. Aluminum doesn't deteriorate like asphalt; the Alunar® 70% PVDF coating protects against Clearbrook's 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1196 mm rainfall. Most installations reach 40–60 years with no functional decline. This is the last roof you buy.

Is metal roofing actually recyclable, or is it just marketing?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and has genuine scrap value. When an Interlock roof eventually reaches end-of-life—decades away—the panels can be melted and reused infinitely without quality loss. Contrast this with asphalt: every 15–20 years, torn-off shingles fill landfills and require new extraction of petroleum and limestone. Over the roof's 40–60 year lifespan, a home might dispose of three asphalt roofs but zero Interlock roofs. Clearbrook's 1196 mm annual rainfall accelerates asphalt degradation, pushing tear-off cycles closer. Switching to aluminum eliminates that cycle entirely and supports circular economy principles.
