Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Galena, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Galena
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Galena, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Galena.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams in Galena winters?
Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow load stays put without sliding off unexpectedly, and the smooth aluminum surface prevents ice dams from forming the way textured asphalt does. Galena receives about 203 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year, which causes asphalt to crack and curl; aluminum's oxide layer flexes without damage. Snow guards are available if you prefer full retention. The lightweight design (the Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means your framing handles seasonal snow loads with zero structural upgrades needed.
Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a high-rainfall climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — steel will rust even with a coating, but aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. Galena averages 1927 mm of rain yearly, and that constant moisture is exactly where aluminum's advantage shines. To protect against salt air or corrosive exposure, Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. After 27 years, your roof still looks and performs like year one — a steel roof would already show base-metal corrosion.
What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Snohomish County experiences wind gusts to 127 km/h, and severe weather can include hail; many insurers offer premium discounts (typically 10–20%) for roofs rated Class 4 because they survive impacts that would puncture or crack asphalt, wood, or standard metal. Ask your agent specifically about UL 2218 Class 4 discounts; the certification number alone often unlocks savings that offset part of your roof cost over time.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for metal roofing?
No — aluminum is extraordinarily light, so no structural upgrades are required. The Interlock Tile profile, which replicates authentic clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Galena's 203 cm annual snowfall means your existing framing was engineered for asphalt shingles plus winter loads; when you switch to Interlock, you're actually reducing total roof weight while gaining durability. The lightweight design also means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, cutting labor time and keeping old shingles out of the landfill.
Will my metal roof blow off in Galena's wind gusts?
No — the four-way interlocking panels are engineered to stay locked in place. Interlock warranties wind resistance up to 120 mph, and Galena's typical wind gusts reach 127 km/h (about 79 mph), well within that safety margin. The interlocking design means each panel grips its neighbors on all four sides; compared to traditional shingle overlap, this four-way grip distributes wind force across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. Installation to spec is critical, and Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997, so they know exactly how Snohomish County weather loads your roof.
How much does metal roofing cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles repeatedly?
Over 40–50 years, Interlock is the last roof you'll buy, which makes it the cheapest option even though the upfront cost is higher. Asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years; in that timeframe, you'll buy three roofs before Interlock's Guardian Warranty gives you one lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner. Galena's 1927 mm annual rainfall and 36 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation, so your replacements come faster. Right now, Interlock Metal Roofing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation — that financing removes the upfront barrier and spreads cost across years you'd spend replacing asphalt anyway.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — basically everything that fails in a conventional roof. When you sell, the warranty transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which often appeals to buyers and supports resale value. Unlike prorated warranties that decline over time, Interlock's non-prorated coverage means a claim in year 20 is honored the same as year two. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty on Alunar fluorocarbon finish, this design simply outlasts the climate challenges Galena throws at it year after year.
How often do I need to maintain a metal roof in the Pacific Northwest?
Minimal — Interlock roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or tile. You won't pressure-wash debris like you do asphalt, and there are no shingles to curl or algae blooms to treat. With Galena's 2710 annual sunshine hours and 1927 mm rainfall, organic growth and UV damage accelerate on asphalt, but Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF finish resists both. Inspect gutters after heavy rain (a Galena standard), and remove leaves or needles a couple times per year — that's it. No moss treatment, no seasonal sealing, no emergency leaks. This low-maintenance profile also means CALGreen compliance, a rating Interlock has verified with municipalities across the region.
Is metal roofing fire-resistant?
Yes — Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and available in Class A fire classification, the highest rating. Because aluminum contains no iron and has no organic coating that burns, it will not ignite, spread flame, or produce embers, even in extreme wildfire exposure. This matters in Snohomish County, where dry summers follow wet winters and wind gusts to 127 km/h can carry embers. Class A rating also qualifies you for insurance discounts in high-risk zones and meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 and all IBC/IRC codes (reissued 2025). If wildfire risk concerns you or your insurance company, specifying Class A Interlock eliminates that vulnerability entirely.
How long does installation take, and do I need to stay off my roof?
Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and pitch, and Interlock installs directly over your existing asphalt shingles — no tear-off, no weeks of debris, no disposal costs. Because the panels are lightweight (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft), installation crews work faster and more safely than with slate or tile. Your home stays dry during installation because the overlapping interlocking design sheds water immediately; even Galena's 1927 mm annual rainfall won't find a leak in a properly installed Interlock roof. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., coordinates the timeline and manages any temporary water management. Most homeowners stay in their homes throughout — it's a clean, fast process.
