Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Reiter

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Reiter, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Reiter.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Reiter winters?

Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice reliably even under Reiter's typical 203 cm annual snowfall. The lightweight design (Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the smooth panel profiles prevent ice dams from forming the way asphalt shingles do. Combined with optional snow guards, your roof handles freeze-thaw cycles without the cracking and curling that plague traditional materials over 36 freeze-thaw days per year.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched. Reiter receives about 1927 mm of rain annually, and Interlock panels are coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading), providing extra protection against prolonged moisture exposure that would degrade steel or compromise uncoated metal. This dual-coat system is specifically why Interlock has been installed in coastal salt-air environments since 1998.

Can metal roofing withstand the wind gusts in this region?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification — well above Reiter's typical gusts of 127 km/h (about 79 mph). The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together horizontally and vertically, distributing wind forces across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. ESR-1790 (the ICC evaluation report reissued 2025) confirms this performance under IBC/IRC code, giving you documented protection during the frequent high-wind events Snohomish County experiences.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant construction and offer premium reductions or discounts on metal roofing. While hail is not a dominant feature of Reiter's weather (which averages about 2710 sunshine hours yearly), the documented impact resistance and aluminum's inability to degrade from hail impact makes this a significant long-term advantage when discussing your policy with your carrier.

Is my house strong enough for a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily lightweight — the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the heaviest traditional roofing material, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft and weighs roughly 96% less than concrete or clay tile. This means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs without any additional framing or support. For Reiter homes with older framing designed for asphalt shingles, the negligible weight of aluminum panels is a major advantage, eliminating thousands of dollars in structural upgrades.

What is the warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no declining benefits over time. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale appeal. The Alunar coating itself is warranted 30 years (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured), and the aluminum substrate cannot degrade from rust or rot. Panels manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, are still performing in Antarctic research stations, demonstrating durability far beyond typical roof lifespans.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when calculated over the roof's life. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock is your last roof. You eliminate multiple tear-offs, labor, and landfill fees. Current financing — no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation — improves the economics further. Reiter's 1927 mm annual rainfall and 36 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation (curling, cracking, moss growth), so you'll replace it sooner. Over 40+ years, one aluminum roof costs less than two or three asphalt roofs, plus you gain resale value, zero maintenance, and the Guardian Warranty.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing asphalt roof, and how long does it take?

Yes — Interlock typically installs directly over existing asphalt, eliminating tear-off labor and waste. The installation process is straightforward: panels are laid in horizontal courses, interlocked four-way (left, right, top, bottom), and fastened. Timeline depends on roof size and weather, but most residential projects complete in 1–3 days once scheduling is set. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997 and handles permitting and installation, ensuring your Reiter home stays protected during the wet season without extended exposure.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need in a rainy climate like Reiter's?

Interlock aluminum roofs require virtually no maintenance — no cleaning, no chemical treatments, no seasonal inspections like asphalt or wood. The Alunar coating resists chalk, fade, and discoloration (warranted 30 years), so you won't deal with moss or algae growth common in Reiter's rainy climate (1927 mm annually). Unlike asphalt, which requires periodic sealing and shingle replacement, or wood shake, which splits and rots in 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year, aluminum simply sheds water and lasts. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements — meaning lower long-term ownership cost and peace of mind.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable and never require tear-off replacement — eliminating the asphalt shingle-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15–20 years. Over a homeowner's lifetime in Reiter, an aluminum roof prevents two to three tear-offs totaling hundreds of pounds of asphalt waste. Aluminum retains its value and is infinitely recyclable without degradation. The lightweight design also means lower installation energy and zero environmental cost from structural reinforcement. By choosing one roof that lasts your lifetime plus 50 years into the next owner's tenure, you reduce your household's roofing footprint more than any other material choice.
