Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Goose Prairie

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Goose Prairie, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Goose Prairie.

How does a metal roof handle Goose Prairie's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum sheds snow naturally because ice cannot bond to its smooth, oxidized surface—critical in a region that averages about 1220 cm of snow annually. Goose Prairie experiences roughly 113 freeze-thaw days per year, which splits asphalt shingles and wood shake; Interlock's non-ferrous aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or curling. The four-way interlocking panels stay sealed even after repeated thermal stress, and you can add snow guards if you prefer staged melting. Unlike tile or slate, the lightweight design means snow load never stresses your structure.

Why doesn't freeze-thaw damage hurt an aluminum metal roof the way it damages asphalt or cedar?

Freeze-thaw damage happens because water penetrates materials, freezes, expands, and splits them from inside. Aluminum's oxide layer is hydrophobic—water sheets off rather than soaking in—so there's nothing to freeze and expand within the material itself. Across Goose Prairie's 113 annual freeze-thaw cycles, asphalt shingles curl and crack, while cedar shake rots and splits. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy simply cycles dimensionally without degradation. The Alunar coating, warranted 30 years against environmental breakdown, adds a second defense on both panel sides.

Can a metal roof stay on in Goose Prairie's wind and gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Goose Prairie's typical gusts peak around 108 km/h (67 mph)—well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking edges lock each panel to its neighbors in all directions, distributing lateral forces across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. Properly installed to spec, the system has no loose edges or seams that can lift. The Guardian Warranty covers wind damage up to the rated speed, giving you certainty in a region where severe gusts are part of the climate.

Does metal roofing hold up in hail, and could it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That non-combustible aluminum construction, combined with documented impact resistance, qualifies many homeowners for insurance premium discounts. Ask your insurer about credits for Class 4 roofing and the lifetime limited warranty; some carriers recognize the reduced claim frequency and offer savings that offset installation cost over time. In Goose Prairie's climate, hail resistance paired with wind warranty and freeze-thaw durability makes metal roofing a lower-risk investment than materials that crack, split, or degrade.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer or add heat in winter?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect incoming solar heat (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny), lowering cooling demand even though Goose Prairie averages only about 3004 sunshine hours yearly—less than many regions. More importantly, aluminum conducts heat but does not retain it the way asphalt absorbs and radiates warmth all night. The Cool Roof Rating Council ratings prove the thermal benefit. In winter, that conductive property prevents ice dams by allowing roof heat to escape evenly. With emissivity of 0.84, the roof manages radiant temperature swings from freezing nights to daytime sun without trapping heat that would drive ice-dam cycles.

Can my home's frame handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and installs directly over most existing roofing. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to asphalt or slate. Aluminum's light weight means you avoid costly structural upgrades, and in a heavy-snow region like Goose Prairie (about 1220 cm annually), lighter roofing reduces the compound load of snow plus roof material on aging framing. Most homes built to current code handle Interlock without modification, making retrofit faster and far cheaper than slate or tile.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to shingles or shake?

Interlock requires no routine maintenance—no resealing, no repainting, no algae treatment. Asphalt shingles lose granules, crack, and curl, especially through Goose Prairie's 113 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Cedar shake splits and rots in the region's 810 mm annual rainfall. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating (both sides) is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading; it simply weathers naturally without degradation. Occasional leaf or debris rinsing keeps gutters clear, but the roof itself remains inert. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, it's the last roof that ever demands attention.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance, no matter the age. It's transferable once, giving the next owner a 50-year term from installation completion. That means if you sell in year 10, the buyer has 40 years of warranty remaining, increasing your home's appeal at resale. Coupled with the 30-year coating guarantee and aluminum's non-corrosive nature, you're protected across multiple ownership cycles. Most homeowners install Interlock once and never reroof again, making it genuinely the last roof you buy.

Is a metal roof safe in a wildfire-prone region, and does it affect insurance or permitting?

Aluminum is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire rating (the highest available), meeting ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 for both IBC and IRC codes. Non-combustibility means the roof cannot ignite or contribute to fire spread, a significant advantage in any climate. Some insurers recognize Class A roofing with premium reductions, and building departments welcome non-combustible materials. Goose Prairie's climate involves 113 freeze-thaw days and significant snow, not arid wildfire conditions, but the fire-safe construction is a permanent asset if you ever move to a higher-risk zone or sell your home—Class A roofing outlasts the building itself in a buyer's eyes.

How long does installation take, and do I really need to tear off my old roof?

Installation is fast because Interlock installs over most existing roofing—no tear-off, no weeks of exposure, no old shingles in the landfill. The lightweight panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean crews work quickly and safely, often completing a typical residential roof in 1–3 days depending on size. You avoid the cost and mess of asphalt removal and the 100% landfill waste that comes with it. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Yakima County region since 1997 and coordinates roof prep, flashing, ventilation, and final inspection to code. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—making the timeline and cost flexible for your schedule.
