Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Moxee, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Moxee
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Moxee, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Moxee.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Yakima County winters?
Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so they handle Moxee's typical 112 cm of annual snow without requiring structural reinforcement. The four-way interlocking design sheds snow and prevents ice damming. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding in specific zones. The aluminum's non-rusting nature means winter moisture and freeze-thaw cycles cause no corrosion or material degradation, even through about 101 freeze-thaw days per year.
Will a metal roof crack or warp after repeated freeze-thaw cycles?
No. Aluminum cannot rust or rot, so the 101 annual freeze-thaw days Moxee experiences won't damage the material. The oxide layer on 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is self-healing—even if snow or ice scratches the surface, the protection regenerates. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking per ASTM D4214) shields against salt and moisture penetration. Wood shingles and asphalt crack under these conditions; aluminum flexes without failure.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched. In Moxee's climate, with about 336 mm of annual rainfall and winter moisture from 112 cm of snow, this passive protection outlasts reactive coatings on steel. The Guardian Warranty specifically covers rusting—because it won't happen. Steel roofing requires ongoing maintenance to prevent failure; aluminum does not.
Do reflective metal roof coatings actually lower cooling costs in Moxee?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs. In a region with about 3,478 annual sunshine hours, this matters. Lighter-colored panels stay cooler in summer, reducing air-conditioning load. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable performance. While Moxee's climate is cooler than southern zones, spring and early fall cooling days add up. You'll see measurable utility savings compared to traditional dark asphalt.
Can I install metal tile roofing on my existing structure without reinforcement?
Yes. Interlock's Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no reinforcement is required. The four-way interlocking design distributes loads evenly across the roof deck. Installation over an existing asphalt or wood roof is straightforward; the existing structure handles the weight. This eliminates costly structural upgrades that traditional tile demands. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code compliance without modification.
Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get insurance discounts?
Hail resistance is exceptional. Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Moxee's wind gusts average 15 km/h with peaks near 87 km/h, hail is less frequent here than in higher-elevation zones. The non-combustible aluminum and Class A fire rating available reduce overall risk. Contact your insurer about discounts for impact-rated roofing; many carriers offer 10–15% reductions for Class 4 panels.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Far less. Asphalt shingles require inspection every 3–5 years and replacement every 15–20 years. Wood shakes split, crack, and curl, especially through 101 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Metal requires only occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection—no seasonal repairs. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (30-year warranty against chalking) resists weathering. Aluminum never rots, rusts, or loses structural integrity. Over 30 years, the maintenance cost difference funds the metal roof's premium upfront.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over the roof's lifetime?
Yes. Asphalt roofs last 15–25 years and require replacement twice in 50 years; metal roofs last 50+ years and replace nothing. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 50 years, metal costs less per year despite higher initial price. Add avoided tear-off labor, landfill fees, and maintenance, and the lifetime value is clear.
How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?
Installation timelines vary by roof size, but typical residential jobs finish in 3–7 days. One major advantage: the lightweight aluminum panels (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58) install directly over existing asphalt or wood roofing in most cases, eliminating expensive tear-off and disposal. No structural changes needed. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Yakima County since 1997 and handles all local permitting. Call for a site assessment to confirm your specific timeline and options.
Is metal roofing actually more sustainable than asphalt shingles?
Absolutely. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end-of-life, the entire roof enters the recycling stream, not the landfill. Asphalt shingles—millions of tons annually—tear off and become landfill waste lasting decades. Interlock's manufacturing process in Delta, BC uses proven methods with minimal waste. Over Moxee's 112 cm annual snow and 336 mm rainfall, a 50-year aluminum roof eliminates two complete asphalt tear-off cycles. The material's durability and recyclability make it the responsible choice for homeowners concerned about environmental impact.
