Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Summitview, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Summitview
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Summitview, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Summitview.
How does a metal roof handle Summitview's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow reliably because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents ice damming even in your region's ~112 cm annual snowfall and ~101 freeze-thaw days per year. The Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design keeps water sealed out; snow simply slides off rather than pooling where asphalt would trap moisture and rot. Aluminum expands and contracts predictably with temperature swings—unlike wood shingles that warp and split—so freeze-thaw cycling actually demonstrates aluminum's material advantage here. Snow guards are available if you prefer controlled shedding.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in Summitview's rainy climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal beneath indefinitely. In Summitview's ~336 mm of annual rainfall, this means your roof stays structurally sound while steel roofing would require constant vigilance. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (both sides) adds a 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading, giving you two independent layers of protection against moisture damage.
Does a metal roof deteriorate faster in areas with repeated freeze-thaw cycles?
No—aluminum actually thrives under freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or warping. Your area experiences about 101 freeze-thaw days annually, a climate where wood shingles fail within 15–20 years but aluminum panels maintain their structural integrity. The four-way interlocking design accommodates thermal movement while maintaining watertight seals; panels move as one unit rather than individual shingles buckling independently. This is why Interlock installations have performed flawlessly from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station—freeze-thaw is actually where aluminum's advantages shine most.
Will my insurance company give me a discount if I install a metal roof in Summitview?
Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs because they resist hail damage that would destroy asphalt shingles. Interlock's Slate, Shingle, Shake, and Tile profiles all carry this highest available hail rating; the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your current insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification—some carriers offer 10–20% premium reductions. Given Summitview's wind gusts reaching 87 km/h, the combination of Class 4 hail protection and 120 mph wind warranty creates a compelling case for a quote adjustment. Bring our spec sheet; insurers recognize this rating.
What makes Interlock's warranty different, and how long will my roof really last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact-resistance loss—the failures that plague asphalt and wood in freeze-thaw climates like yours. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, which significantly boosts resale appeal. Unlike prorated warranties that decline year by year, you're protected equally in year one and year 40. Real-world Interlock roofs installed in 1998 are still performing; combined with aluminum's non-corrosive nature and the 30-year coating warranty, this is genuinely the last roof you'll buy for your home.
Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need expensive structural upgrades?
No structural reinforcement needed. Interlock's Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This exceptional lightness means installation happens over most existing roofs without framing upgrades. Summitview homes designed for traditional asphalt easily accommodate metal; in fact, the reduced weight actually benefits older structures by lowering stress on supports and foundations. Because aluminum weighs so little, labor costs stay reasonable and your existing deck typically requires no reinforcement—a major cost advantage over upgrading to support heavy tile.
Will a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in Summitview's sunny climate?
Yes. energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling load even during Summitview's ~3478 sunshine hours annually. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms measurable energy performance. While your winters are cold (mean 9.8°C), summer peak temperatures benefit from this reflectance; you'll also gain winter advantages because the reflective coating doesn't trap heat loss through the roof in moderate months. Metal's conductivity also prevents hot spots that age asphalt prematurely, so your energy savings compound over decades.
Is a metal roof fire-safe in Washington, and does it affect my insurance?
Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available in Class A fire classification—the highest rating—because aluminum itself will not ignite or spread flame. This meets or exceeds all requirements in the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (current through 2025 IBC/IRC), giving you full code compliance. Non-combustibility often qualifies for insurance discounts, especially in wildland-adjacent areas. While Summitview's specific wildfire risk varies by neighborhood, a Class A metal roof removes one variable from your insurer's assessment and protects your home's integrity if wildfire does threaten the region. Request the ESR-1790 spec sheet for your insurance agent.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal requires vastly less maintenance. Asphalt shingles deteriorate from UV exposure, moss growth, and the moisture cycles Summitview's ~336 mm rain and ~112 cm snow create annually; wood splits and rots under freeze-thaw stress. Interlock aluminum needs no sealing, no moss treatment, no repairs from curling or cracking. Gutters still need cleaning, but the roof itself sheds debris automatically. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Over 30–40 years, you'll spend thousands less on repairs compared to asphalt's 15–20 year lifespan. Inspections every 5 years are prudent; actual repairs are rare. This simplicity is especially valuable in a climate with significant seasonal moisture.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost when I could install cheaper asphalt shingles?
Initial cost is higher, but the lifetime math favors metal decisively. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Summitview's climate; you'll buy two or three roofs before a metal roof needs replacing. Each replacement means labor, disposal, and roofing-off time; asphalt tear-offs fill landfills with ~95 tons per roof. An Interlock roof costs more once—then lasts your lifetime and transfers 50 years to the next owner, protecting your equity. The Guardian's non-prorated warranty removes replacement anxiety. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Factor in potential insurance discounts, zero maintenance costs, and energy reflection, and metal becomes the economically rational choice over multiple asphalt cycles.
