Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Tieton, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tieton
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Tieton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Tieton.
Does a metal roof handle Tieton's heavy snow load without ice dams?
Yes. Tieton receives about 380 cm of snow annually, and aluminum's smooth, interlocking four-way panel design sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and create dams. The panels' slippery surface allows snow to release naturally rather than accumulate in pockets. Since aluminum conducts heat differently than asphalt, your roof stays cooler in winter, reducing the freeze-thaw cycle that causes ice dams. Snow guards are available if you need them for safety.
Will Tieton's 106 freeze-thaw days per year damage my metal roof?
Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw cycles. Unlike asphalt shingles, which crack and curl when water freezes inside them, or wood shakes, which split, aluminum panels expand and contract uniformly without water absorption. Tieton averages 106 freeze-thaw days yearly, making this durability crucial. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and self-healing oxide layer mean your roof performs better the harsher the cycle. Wood and composite materials deteriorate in these conditions; aluminum improves with age.
Can a metal roof rust in a climate as wet as Tieton's?
No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Tieton receives about 428 mm of rain yearly, creating conditions that would rust steel roofing, but aluminum's oxide layer automatically self-heals when scratched, forming a protective barrier that renews itself continuously. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel for extra durability in wet climates. This dual-layer protection is why Interlock roofs have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998.
Will my metal roof stay intact during Tieton's wind gusts?
Yes—guaranteed. Tieton experiences wind gusts up to 135 km/h, well within the roof's warranty coverage of 120 mph (193 km/h) winds when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each sheet to its neighbors and the deck below, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This engineering, combined with ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 compliance, means your roof is engineered for your local wind environment, not just marketed for it.
Do I need to reinforce my house for a metal roof?
No. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the heaviest traditional roofing, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft. Because aluminum weighs so little, it installs directly over most existing roofs without structural modification. This matters in Tieton's climate: the lighter load reduces stress on framing that experiences 106 freeze-thaw cycles yearly, where wood shrinks and swells with seasonal moisture. Your existing structure can handle it.
Will my insurance cover hail damage, and could my rate drop?
Tieton's hail risk is real, and Interlock roofs carry the highest impact rating available: UL 2218 Class 4. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer premium discounts for metal roofs. Your adjuster will see an aluminum roof as lower-risk than asphalt, which dents and leaks in hail. File your insurer's requirements with your estimate—Class 4 rating often pays for itself in reduced premiums over just a few years.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of my home?
Absolutely, when you measure total cost over time. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Tieton's freeze-thaw environment and end up in landfills; you replace them two or three times in a homeowner's lifetime. Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty covers your original ownership completely—the only roof you'll ever buy. The next owner receives 50 years of coverage if you sell. Current financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. That math favors metal decisively.
What exactly does the Interlock warranty cover, and for how long?
The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner—non-prorated, meaning no deduction for age. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance across Tieton's 106 annual freeze-thaw days, when these failures typically occur. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. The Alunar coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards). No other roof offers this depth of protection.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile instead of corrugated?
Yes—five profiles to choose from. The Slate profile replicates traditional slate roofing; Cedar Shingle and Shake evoke wood without water damage or rot; Mediterranean Tile mimics clay barrel tiles; and Standing Seam offers a modern industrial look. All use the same roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum with Alunar 70% PVDF finish, so performance is identical across styles. In Tieton's wet, freeze-thaw climate, you get the architectural character of traditional materials with aluminum's durability and zero wood or slate maintenance.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Tieton, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997, with deep knowledge of Yakima County's climate—the 380 cm annual snowfall, 135 km/h gusts, and 106 freeze-thaw days that demand proper installation. They're factory-trained on four-way interlocking panel systems and current on ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance. They offer the current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Local experience matters; your installer should understand how Tieton snow and wind interact with your specific roof slope and exposure.
