Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Heisson, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.
Customer Satisfaction 5/5 The installers did an excellent job and worked very hard.
We have had our interlock roof on for over 15 years. Still looks great no problems. We are glad that we don't have to worry about a roof anymore. They stand behind warranty.
We loved the crew that installed our roof. They were quick and polite and very very tidy. We never found a single stray water bottle or can or chip bag. Well worth it. Plus, lifetime guarantee?!? Yes ma’am!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Heisson
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Heisson, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Heisson.
How does a metal roof handle Heisson's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, and the four-way interlocking panels eliminate gaps where ice dams form. With about 120 cm of snow and roughly 22 freeze-thaw days each year, the slippery aluminum profile—combined with optional snow guards—prevents the dangerous accumulation and sudden slides that damage gutters and landscaping. The metal's thermal conductivity also reduces the roof-to-snow interface temperature swings that trigger ice dam formation in the first place.
Will a metal roof leak in Heisson's 2,163 mm of annual rainfall?
No. The four-way interlocking panel design creates a continuous, overlapped surface that sheds water faster than any shingle profile can absorb it. In Clark County's wet climate—averaging over 2,160 mm of rain yearly—this mechanical seal means water moves off the roof in seconds, never pooling at seams or edges. The standing seam and slate profiles are especially effective; both have been field-proven in coastal British Columbia's similar rainfall patterns since 1998.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage or insurance costs in Washington?
Yes on both counts. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-degrading protection and offer premium reductions. Because aluminum maintains its structural integrity after impact (unlike asphalt or wood), your roof's resistance doesn't diminish with time, making it an increasingly attractive risk profile to underwriters as years pass.
Why doesn't aluminum rust, and why does that matter in a rainy climate?
Aluminum contains no iron—the element that rusts. Instead, it forms an oxide layer that actually heals itself when scratched. In Heisson's 2,160+ mm annual rainfall, this self-healing barrier makes aluminum far more durable than steel roofing, which requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust staining and structural failure. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy is further protected by a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading), which shields the metal from the combination of moisture, freeze-thaw, and UV exposure that corrodes lesser materials.
Can my Heisson home's roof structure handle metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?
No reinforcement needed. The Interlock Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—despite its authentic appearance—is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extraordinary lightness allows installation directly over most existing roofs, saving thousands in structural work. Older homes especially benefit: the low weight eliminates the costly beam and truss upgrades that heavy tile would require, while delivering the same visual impact with a fraction of the load.
Will a metal roof stay put in Heisson's wind gusts?
Yes. Heisson's typical wind gusts reach about 115 km/h (71 mph), and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design creates a unified surface that flexes as one unit rather than individual shingles lifting or peeling. This mechanical connection—combined with proper fastening—keeps the roof secure even during the strongest seasonal gusts Clark County experiences.
What's the actual lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers material defects—rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—for the original owner, with no prorated reduction. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. In practice, field installations since 1998 across diverse climates (coastal salt air to Antarctic research stations) show aluminum roofs lasting 50+ years with minimal intervention, outlasting three to four asphalt roof cycles.
How long does metal roofing installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes three to seven days for a standard residential roof, depending on size and existing conditions. Because metal panels weigh roughly 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft—dramatically less than tile or slate—the old roof often stays in place, eliminating tear-off labor and disposal costs. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving the region since 1997, can assess whether over-installation suits your home or a tear-off is cleaner; either path completes faster than traditional roofing, minimizing interior disruption.
Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing costs more upfront but is genuinely the last roof you buy. While asphalt costs less initially, you'll replace it three to four times over 50 years, with each cycle involving labor, tear-off fees, and landfill disposal. Over the roof's full life, metal's zero-maintenance profile, non-prorated lifetime warranty, and transferable 50-year secondary term deliver far lower total cost. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—making the upfront gap even smaller.
Are metal roofs better for the environment than asphalt?
Dramatically so. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, creating a closed-loop material cycle. By contrast, asphalt shingles—torn off every 15–25 years—pile up in landfills by the millions of tons. Heisson's 2,160+ mm annual rainfall and 120 cm of snow demand frequent roof maintenance and earlier replacement cycles, making asphalt's landfill footprint particularly heavy over time. Metal's longevity eliminates that waste entirely and can be fully reclaimed as aluminum ingot, supporting the recycling economy rather than soil contamination.
