If they want to really sell a roof, their tactics should be a little bit different. We will definitely not be buying anything through Mr. Glenn.

Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Brush Prairie

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Brush Prairie, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Brush Prairie.

How does a metal roof handle Brush Prairie's 48 cm of annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface resists adhesion—snow slides off cleanly rather than damming up. Brush Prairie's 36 annual freeze-thaw days create a natural release cycle that works in your favor: ice expands and contracts on metal without cracking or curling the way asphalt shingles do. Four-way interlocking panels keep water sealed even when ice dams form, and the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminates structural strain from heavy snow loads. You get year-round leak protection without the maintenance headaches wood shingles would demand in this climate.

Will a metal roof stand up to Brush Prairie's wind gusts?

Absolutely. Brush Prairie's typical gusts reach 116 km/h, and Interlock roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners like traditional shingles do. This engineering—verified in ICC-ES ESR-1790—means your roof stays secure through the strongest windstorms the region experiences, with no risk of panels lifting or peeling.

Why won't a metal roof rust, even in the Pacific Northwest's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, a chemical compound aluminum simply cannot form. Instead, aluminum develops a self-healing oxide layer that protects the core metal; if that layer is scratched, a new one forms automatically. Brush Prairie receives about 1468 mm of rain annually, and paired with the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading), your aluminum roof is corrosion-proof. This finish is applied to both sides of every panel—extra insurance in salt-air regions. You'll never deal with rust stains, deteriorating fasteners, or water damage from corrosion.

Can a metal roof take a hailstorm without denting or damage?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Clark County experiences significant hail risk, and this rating means your roof absorbs impact that would puncture or crack asphalt shingles. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for impact resilience, and many insurers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because the claim risk is dramatically lower. Check with your agent—the metal roof may pay for itself in reduced premiums over just a few years.

Will a reflective metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in Brush Prairie?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Brush Prairie enjoys about 2957 sunshine hours annually, and even in a mild Pacific Northwest climate, summer cooling costs add up. The reflective aluminum surface bounces that heat away from your home, keeping attics and living spaces cooler without working your air conditioner harder. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings compound—especially as asphalt shingles darken with age and absorb more heat. You're not just buying durability; you're buying a cooler, more efficient home.

Does a metal roof that looks like slate or tile require structural reinforcement?

No structural reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which mimics traditional clay or concrete tile, weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the real thing. Brush Prairie's 48 cm annual snowfall means roof loads matter, and lightweight metal eliminates the concern: your existing framing and joists can support a metal roof without upgrades. You can even install over your existing asphalt roof, saving thousands in tear-off labor. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the installation process and load-bearing requirements, and your installer will verify that your home's structure is ready.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the lifetime of your home?

The math strongly favors metal. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times over 50 years, paying for tear-off labor, haul fees, and landfill disposal each time. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—you're buying your last roof. Factor in energy savings from reflective coatings, potential insurance discounts (Class 4 hail rating), no maintenance costs, and the roof's transferability (50-year coverage for the next owner), and the lifetime cost is lower than asphalt. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

How does a metal roof handle Brush Prairie's 1468 mm of annual rainfall?

Metal roofs excel in wet climates because aluminum and interlocking engineering create a sealed system: water cannot pool or seep between panels. The four-way interlocking design means each piece overlaps and locks to its neighbors, channeling water downward and outward with zero gaps. Brush Prairie's frequent rain—about 1468 mm per year—poses no leak risk when the roof is installed correctly by a qualified installer over solid decking and proper underlayment. The warranty covers leaks from manufacturing defects, and the installation process ensures gutters and flashing direct water away cleanly. You get the confidence of a watertight roof in one of the PNW's rainiest regions.

What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof actually need in the Pacific Northwest?

Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt shingles, metal won't split, curl, or shed granules; it doesn't require sealing, staining, or replacement of damaged pieces. Wood shingles demand moss treatment and professional cleaning in Brush Prairie's 1468 mm annual rainfall. Concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum oxide coating is self-healing and warrants 30 years against chalking and fading, meaning your roof stays color-fast without recoating. The roof itself is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and you'll spend far less time and money managing it than traditional materials demand. Brush Prairie's 36 annual freeze-thaw days are actually easier on metal than asphalt because it expands and contracts without damage.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Substantially. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels manufactured in Delta, BC, end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that takes place every 15–20 years. Each replacement of asphalt shingles sends tons of material to the dump; over 50 years, a metal roof eliminates that waste entirely. At end of life (which will be decades away), aluminum has scrap value and is reclaimed by recycling mills. Brush Prairie's 1468 mm annual rainfall feeds into stormwater runoff; metal roofing doesn't release asphalt byproducts or granules into local water systems. You're buying a roof that works with the environment, not against it.
