Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Lake Shore, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I purchase our roof in 2017. It still looks great! The install went perfect! Highly recommend Interlock!!
Couldn’t be more pleased with our new Interlock metal roof. Finished in three days including tear off. Professional crew cleaned up after themselves each day. We’re especially enjoying the two solar tubes that add natural light to our home. Highly recommend Interlock.
I continue to be pleased and happy with my Interlock metal roof after 10 years! People new to the neighborhood ask about it and are amazed to learn it's metal and not asphalt.
Definitely worth the wait. We got our estimate and signed on the dotted line in late August, then got our new roof in mid-November. I was a little concerned because we were now into the "rainy" season. I needn't have been. From start to finish the job was done professionally, efficiently, and they even coordinated with the satellite dish person who relocated our dish for us. I actually contacted Interlock and asked for a yard sign to be placed out front because I wanted all my neighbors to know about our beautiful new roof. First rate and I have recommended them to others and will continue to do so.
Our new metal roof from Interlock was installed in June. It has kept our house cooler in the hot weather. The roof is beautiful and makes our house stand out. The Installers were professional, efficient and friendly. There was virtually no debris left in the garden or anywhere. We love our new roof and recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof that will last a long time.
Damon is great, 5/5 on knowledge and personality. The installation crew was efficient and got our new roof on in less than a week!
Interlock did a great job communicating and the team sent to install the roof was professional and fast. The roofing system looks great after install and held up to some heavy rains afterwards with no issues.
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.
Customer Satisfaction 5/5 The installers did an excellent job and worked very hard.
We have had our interlock roof on for over 15 years. Still looks great no problems. We are glad that we don't have to worry about a roof anymore. They stand behind warranty.
We loved the crew that installed our roof. They were quick and polite and very very tidy. We never found a single stray water bottle or can or chip bag. Well worth it. Plus, lifetime guarantee?!? Yes ma’am!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lake Shore
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lake Shore, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lake Shore.
Does metal roofing handle Lake Shore's snow and ice buildup?
Yes — aluminum's smooth surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation that plagues the region's roughly 36 freeze-thaw days annually. Lake Shore averages about 48 cm of snow per year, and the four-way interlocking panel system (ESR-1790 rated) won't split or warp under freeze-thaw stress. Snow guards can be added if you want controlled melting. The lightweight design — about 96% lighter than slate or tile — means no structural reinforcement, so installation is straightforward even in snowy climates.
Will a metal roof rust in Washington's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects it permanently. Lake Shore receives about 1468 mm of rain annually, yet aluminum's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloys (ASTM B209) remain corrosion-resistant indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, offering extra defense in wet conditions. Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts — making aluminum the smarter long-term investment for this rainfall zone.
What's the actual warranty on an Interlock metal roof?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material guarantee for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no time limit. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from completion. This means you're buying your last roof; there's no asphalt cycle of replacement every 15–20 years. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty against fading, you're protected across decades in Lake Shore's 2957 annual sunshine hours and variable weather.
Can metal roofing look like real slate, cedar shake, or tile?
Yes — Interlock offers five authentic profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile, each molded to replicate traditional materials without the weight, maintenance, or cost penalties. The Slate profile mirrors natural stone; Cedar Shingle and Shake deliver that rustic aesthetic; Mediterranean Tile echoes clay barrel tile. All are manufactured from roofing-grade aluminum in Delta, BC, and installed across coastal and mountain regions. Choose the profile that matches your home's character and Lake Shore's Pacific Northwest context.
How does metal roofing hold up to Lake Shore's wind gusts?
Lake Shore experiences gusts up to 116 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlocking design transfers wind load across multiple panels, preventing uplift — a critical advantage in this region's typical 15 km/h daily winds with occasional severe gusts. This engineered security, backed by ESR-1790 code compliance, means your roof stays in place during the Pacific Northwest's unpredictable storms without risk of panel separation or leakage.
Will hail damage an aluminum metal roof, and can I get insurance discounts?
Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions; contact your carrier with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation. While Lake Shore's climate doesn't emphasize severe hail, the impact durability provides peace of mind, and the documented rating can work in your favor at renewal.
Does heavy rain leak through metal roofing seams?
No — the four-way interlocking panel system (ESR-1790 rated) is engineered to shed water without leakage when installed to code. Lake Shore's 1468 mm annual rainfall demands robust sealing, and Interlock's overlapping, mechanically locked edges direct water downslope faster than asphalt shingles can absorb it. Combined with proper deck and underlayment installation, the system outperforms traditional roofing in heavy precipitation zones. Your installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. — serving the region since 1997 — knows Lake Shore's rain patterns and applies industry-proven sealing protocols.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need in Washington?
Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Aluminum doesn't split, curl, rot, or require periodic sealing; it's CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Lake Shore's 1468 mm annual rain keeps the Alunar fluorocarbon coating clean naturally, and the self-healing oxide layer protects against oxidation. Asphalt roofs demand regular inspections, tar bleeding in heat, and granule loss; wood shakes require preventive treatments; tile requires underlayment replacement. Interlock's aluminum simply stays intact across 36 freeze-thaw cycles yearly and typical weather variation, freeing you from costly upkeep.
Can metal roofing lower my cooling costs in a warm spell?
Yes — Interlock's energy-efficient colors offer thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance as high as 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Lake Shore averages 2957 annual sunshine hours, so even mild seasonal warming benefits from reflective coatings. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable heat rejection. Over the roof's lifetime, this translates to moderate cooling savings during warmer months and reduced attic temperatures year-round, adding comfort without the weight of heavy traditional materials.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Yes — it's the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically costs less initially but requires replacement every 15–20 years; across 50 years, you'll replace it three times while your Interlock roof, backed by a lifetime limited warranty, remains intact. Lake Shore's 1468 mm rainfall, 48 cm snow, and 36 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation; aluminum resists all three without splitting, rotting, or curling. The Guardian Warranty covers your ownership for life and transfers 50 years to the next owner, dramatically improving resale value. Factor in eliminated tear-off disposal costs and near-zero maintenance, and the total cost of ownership favors aluminum decisively. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.
