If they want to really sell a roof, their tactics should be a little bit different. We will definitely not be buying anything through Mr. Glenn.

Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Barberton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Barberton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Barberton.

Will a metal roof handle Barberton's snow and ice without leaking or damaging the house?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because of their smooth, interlocking design and low thermal mass. Barberton averages about 48 cm of snow annually with roughly 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that cause asphalt shingles to crack and curl. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind, which covers the typical gusts up to 116 km/h you see here. Snow guards can be added if you want to manage shedding, but the roof itself won't trap water or ice the way composition shingles do in spring thaw.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does that matter in Washington?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal underneath. Even though Barberton receives about 1468 mm of rain yearly, that moisture will never trigger corrosion on an aluminum roof. Steel roofing requires constant maintenance to prevent rust staining and perforation. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both sides, giving you 30-year warranty protection against any degradation from wet Pacific Northwest conditions.

How does a metal roof stand up to the wind gusts common around Barberton?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that they resist wind speeds up to 120 mph—well above Barberton's typical gusts of around 116 km/h (72 mph). The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically secured to its neighbors and to the deck, so wind cannot peel up a corner or tear strips away like it can with shingles. In a region where sustained winds push toward your warranty limit, this engineering matters. Installation to spec is what activates the 120 mph wind warranty, so your installer needs to follow the fastening pattern precisely.

Does a metal roof actually lower cooling costs in a sunny region like Barberton?

Barberton gets about 2957 hours of sunshine per year, and reflecting that heat keeps your cooling bills lower. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning the roof reflects heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Metal's conductivity also lets heat escape in winter if your attic is vented. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings on a typical home compound significantly, especially in summer months when the sun angle is high. Cool Roof Rating Council ratings back these performance numbers for the Pacific Northwest climate.

Is aluminum roofing light enough to install over my existing roof without reinforcing the structure?

Yes—Interlock's Slate installs at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle at 0.58, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft. By comparison, real concrete or clay tile weighs about 14–18 lb/sq ft, making aluminum approximately 96% lighter. This means you can often overlay an existing roof with no structural upgrades, saving you money on removal and disposal. Because Barberton's frame homes are typical for the region, this lightweight advantage translates directly to lower labor costs and faster installation. Confirm with your local installer whether your existing deck is sound, but structural reinforcement is rarely needed with Interlock metal.

What happens if hail damages a metal roof, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock aluminum roofing is rated UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact classification available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 ratings often qualify homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists damage that would destroy asphalt shingles. While Barberton doesn't sit in a severe hail corridor, the surrounding region does see spring hail events, and Class 4 protection gives you peace of mind. Some insurers offer premium reductions for non-prorated impact-resistant roofing, so ask your agent about it when you quote the project. Keep your warranty documentation handy for any claim.

How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—meaning no depreciation schedule, just full coverage for the life you own it. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell the home, the warranty transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding real value to a sale. The Alunar coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Given Barberton's 1468 mm annual rainfall and 36 freeze-thaw cycles per year, a roof that doesn't rot, crack, or corrode eliminates the repeated repairs that drain your budget over decades. One roof installed now is genuinely your last.

How long does installation take, and can you really install over an existing roof?

Installation typically takes 1–3 days depending on roof size and complexity, and yes, Interlock installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofing without tear-off. The lightweight panels (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) mean faster handling and no structural stress. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and knows Barberton's typical deck conditions. They'll assess whether your existing roof is sound or needs any repairs first. Avoiding a full tear-off saves landfill waste and money—a win for your budget and the environment. Current promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation if you prefer to pay upfront.

What maintenance does a metal roof need in a climate like Barberton's?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no algae removal, no moss treatment, no gutter clearing from rotting granules. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under Barberton's freeze-thaw cycles (36 per year), or real wood shakes, which split and rot with 1468 mm of annual rainfall, metal panels don't absorb water or invite growth. A periodic rinse to remove debris or salt spray is optional. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and the underlying aluminum self-heals from minor scratches. This low-maintenance reality matters over 50 years: you're not paying contractors to climb your roof every few years to patch problems.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over time?

Yes—a metal roof becomes your last roof purchase. Asphalt shingles in Barberton's climate (1468 mm rain, 36 freeze-thaw days yearly, gusts to 116 km/h) typically last 15–20 years before curling, splitting, and leaking force replacement. You'll install 2–3 asphalt roofs in the lifespan of one aluminum roof. Add removal costs, disposal fees, labor inflation, and the lifetime limited Guardian Warranty coverage, and the total cost per year of protection favors metal decisively. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, reducing the upfront barrier. Run a 50-year amortization: metal costs less annually than the tear-off-replace cycle.
