Review: February 3, 2016

Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Venersborg

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Venersborg, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Venersborg.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams in Venersborg winters?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, sloped surface prevents buildup that leads to dams. Venersborg averages about 163 cm of snow annually with roughly 22 freeze-thaw cycles per year, conditions that stress traditional asphalt by cycling between expansion and contraction. Aluminum's thermal properties and slick finish mean less adhesion, reducing ice-dam risk. Optional snow guards keep snow from sliding onto walkways if you prefer. The lightweight design (just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile) won't overload rafters even with a heavy wet snow load.

With 2,160 mm of rain per year here, will a metal roof leak?

Metal roofs are engineered to shed water quickly—the interlocking seams and slight slope direct rainfall away before it can pool or penetrate. Venersborg's annual rainfall of about 2,160 mm is substantial, but that's exactly why the four-way interlock design exists: water runs off the panel edges and through the seams without sitting. Professional installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, ensures proper pitch and fastening to ICC-ES ESR-1790 code. A solid deck and underlayment (installed during setup) provide a secondary moisture barrier, so leaks are extremely rare when installed to spec.

Why does aluminum not rust like steel roofing, and does that matter in Clark County?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and deteriorates. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. In areas with moisture, salt air, or industrial fallout, this matters enormously: steel requires constant maintenance and eventually fails, while aluminum stays sound. Venersborg's 2,160 mm annual rainfall means moisture is constant. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied both sides) adds 30 years of color warranty protection (ASTM D4214/D2244). Even if the coating scuffs, the aluminum underneath will not corrode—a permanent advantage over steel or copper.

Can metal roofing handle Venersborg's wind gusts?

Absolutely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind cannot lift or separate them—that's why Interlock roofs are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Venersborg's typical gusts reach about 115 km/h, well within the warranty threshold. The interlock system distributes wind pressure across the entire roof plane instead of concentrating it on fasteners. This redundant locking is why the product passes ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 for both the International Building Code and IRC. Many homeowners and property managers near the coast or in wind-prone areas choose Interlock precisely for this reliability.

Does aluminum roofing qualify for insurance discounts because of hail resistance?

Yes—Interlock's aluminum panels carry the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists damage that would wreck asphalt or wood shingles. Some insurers recognize aluminum's durability and lower claim rates, reducing your annual premium. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and the 30-year coating warranty proof to explore discounts. In Venersborg's climate, this resilience protects you from surprise repair costs that hail frequently triggers on traditional roofing.

Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof without structural work?

Yes. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs with no structural reinforcement. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. This is a major advantage in Venersborg, where framing repair costs can be significant and downtime disruptive. You avoid the expense and mess of tearing off the old roof and hauling it to the landfill. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. assesses your existing structure during consultation and confirms whether a direct overlay is feasible, often saving thousands and keeping your home weather-tight throughout installation.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which boosts resale appeal. Aluminum itself doesn't degrade like wood shingles or asphalt; expect 50+ years of reliable performance under normal conditions. The 30-year coating warranty (Alunar PVDF finish) protects color and gloss to ASTM D4214 standards. In Venersborg's wet climate with 2,160 mm rainfall annually, this durability means you won't face surprise failures that compromise your home's weather integrity.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over the roof's lifetime?

Yes—while metal costs more initially, it's the last roof you typically buy. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Venersborg's 2,160 mm annual rainfall and 22 freeze-thaw cycles (moisture and temperature cycling accelerates deterioration). You'll replace asphalt two, three, or more times over 50 years—each replacement includes labor, disposal, and disruption. Metal roofs last 50+ years with minimal maintenance, so you avoid the cumulative cost and hassle of repeated cycles. Current regional financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—lowers your entry cost significantly. Amortized over the roof's life, metal is actually cheaper and far less disruptive.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like traditional slate, cedar shake, or tile?

Completely. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the visual character of the traditional material—three-dimensional texturing, authentic color gradations, and realistic shadow lines—while delivering aluminum's durability and lightness. The Slate profile suits classic homes, Cedar Shingle works for craftsman or cottage aesthetics, Mediterranean Tile complements contemporary or Spanish-influenced designs, and Standing Seam offers a modern industrial look. All profiles come in multiple color options and install with the same four-way interlock system. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. can show samples and help you choose a style that matches your home's character and Venersborg's architectural fabric.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life—they never become landfill waste. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–20 years and dumped; Venersborg homeowners alone contribute tons to landfills over a generation. Aluminum roofing ends that cycle: when eventually removed, panels are melted and reused for cans, automotive parts, or new roofing. The manufacturing process is energy-efficient, and the lightweight panels require less fuel to transport. Plus, aluminum's thermal reflectance (up to 0.55 on energy-efficient colors) keeps homes cooler in summer, reducing air-conditioning demand during Venersborg's 2,764 annual sunshine hours. Over its 50-year life, an Interlock roof delivers genuine environmental benefit.
