Review: February 3, 2016

Dear Interlock Industries, We knew that someday we would need a new roof. We had been considering various roofing materials as we have a concern about a plaguing issue of a moss growth problem as a result of fir needle build up. We had to go on the our roof at least one to two times and sometimes more often a month to blow off the roof as the needles would collect everywhere and build up in the roof valleys; plus the additional time necessary to remove the moss. We spent way too much time on the roof. We happened to see the Interlock aluminum roof system and after speaking with staff and our friends and doing some research, we made the decision to have your roof system installed this past fall. We want to let you know that we are happy with the product as well as the style we selected. We had the deep charcoal grey " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate profile installed on our traditional style home. It looks great! Many of the neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. They first thought it would be too commercial looking, but once they saw the end product they were impressed. All the staff from Robin at the Clark County Fair exhibitors’ booth, Mike Rasmussen, Divisional Sales Manager, as well the roof installers were very professional and good in explaining the product, what was involved in the installation, as well as being responsive and open to addressing our questions, comments and concerns. Once the product was ready to be delivered the installation date was confirmed. The installers arrived early on that date and started in on the job. They were diligent on the installation. They did clean up at the end of each day. They were open and encouraged questions and any comments we had. If there was something we noticed that was not quite right they would check and correct. They were as concerned as we were about a quality job done right. The roof does well as the valleys do not collect needles anymore. The only concern/complaint is that the needles do get caught in the interlock sections particularly when it is raining and windy making it difficult to remove them. We have had a lot of rain since the roof was installed so we have not had a chance to really remove the needles. Hopefully once the roof and needles dry out; it will be easier to remove them. But it does appear that we will not have to go on the roof nearly as much as in the past.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fargher Lake

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fargher Lake, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fargher Lake.

Will a metal roof handle Fargher Lake's heavy snow loads without ice dam problems?

Yes. Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth surface resists adhesion—critical in your region, which averages about 163 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified plane that prevents water from pooling at seams. Your area experiences roughly 22 freeze-thaw cycles per year; this cycling is exactly where ice dams form on asphalt, but metal's non-absorbent surface and thermal properties allow meltwater to drain cleanly. Snow guards are optional and available if you prefer controlled shedding.

How does metal roofing perform with Fargher Lake's 2160+ mm of annual rainfall?

The interlocking panel design with factory-sealed seams creates a weather-tight barrier engineered to handle extreme precipitation. Your area receives about 2163 mm of rain yearly—well above national averages—yet the four-way interlock system directs water downward and outward, preventing infiltration at joints. Installed over solid decking with industry-standard underlayment (applied by local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc.), this assembly matches or exceeds the leak protection of traditional asphalt roofing while eliminating the granule-loss problem that degrades shingles in high-rainfall climates.

Can an aluminum metal roof withstand Fargher Lake's wind gusts?

Yes. The system is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—your region's recorded gusts reach about 115 km/h (71 mph), well below that threshold. The four-way interlocking panels provide mechanical redundancy; each panel locks into its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind loads across the entire assembly rather than concentrating stress at fastener points. This interlock geometry is particularly valuable during the high-wind events common in Clark County's maritime climate, and it's why the warranty specifically covers wind damage.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a climate as wet as Fargher Lake's?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and creates rust stains and structural decay. In Fargher Lake's wet climate (2163 mm annual rainfall), this matters enormously. The metal naturally forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that is self-healing; when scratched, it reforms automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a 30-year warranted barrier against environmental degradation. This two-layer protection system is why aluminum roofs survive indefinitely in coastal salt air and survive Fargher Lake's constant moisture without the rust blooming, fastener corrosion, or base-metal failure that plague steel-based alternatives.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Interlock Tile profile, for example, weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Cedar Shingle installs at approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most existing roofs can support this load without modification. This lightness is especially valuable in older Fargher Lake homes, where adding heavy tile or slate would trigger expensive structural upgrades. Additionally, the light weight allows installation directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating tear-off costs and landfill impact while shortening installation timelines.

Will a metal roof reduce my homeowners insurance costs after hail damage?

Metal roofing's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—often qualifies for insurance discounts because it resists hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter without perforation. Fargher Lake experiences variable spring weather, and your insurer may recognize this durability. The Interlock Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hail, so you're protected both by the product's proven toughness and by explicit coverage. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss your specific discount eligibility; many carriers reward Class 4 ratings because claims frequency is statistically lower.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require in Fargher Lake?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which shed granules year-round in your 2163 mm-annual-rainfall climate and require periodic replacement, or wood shake, which splits and rots in 22 annual freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum requires no repairs, no sealing, and no restoration. The Alunar finish is rated non-chalking and non-fading for 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 standards). Gutters need routine clearing, as with any roof, but the metal itself is maintenance-free. This is why Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. emphasizes the CALGreen-verified reduced-maintenance classification—your labor and material costs vanish after installation.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over 30 or 40 years?

The mathematics favor metal decisively over a full life cycle. Asphalt shingles deteriorate in Fargher Lake's 163 cm annual snowfall, 2163 mm rainfall, and 22 freeze-thaw days; you'll replace them every 15–20 years. Metal installed once requires zero replacement, zero repairs, and zero maintenance. The current regional promotion—no payments, no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—lowers entry cost substantially. A lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty covering rusting, cracking, and impact damage means your cost-per-year approaches zero after year 20, whereas asphalt spending accelerates over time. For a homeowner planning to stay, metal becomes your last roof and your financial last roof.

What does the Interlock warranty actually cover, and does it transfer if I sell?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This means you're covered for the full lifespan of the roof at no prorated cost; no degrading coverage schedule. If you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner, extending 50 years from installation completion. The transferability increases resale appeal because buyers inherit decades of protection. In Fargher Lake's challenging climate (163 cm snow, 2163 mm rain, 22 freeze-thaw cycles annually), this warranty gap is meaningful: asphalt has zero warranty by year 15, while your aluminum roof's protection is just beginning.

Is metal roofing Class A fire-rated, and does that matter in Washington?

Yes, Interlock aluminum roofing is available with Class A fire classification because aluminum is non-combustible (ASTM E136). Class A is the highest fire-safety rating and is required by some municipalities and strongly preferred by insurers. Washington fire codes vary by jurisdiction; Fargher Lake and Clark County may require or incentivize Class A roofing in certain zones. Beyond code compliance, non-combustibility provides peace of mind in any climate: the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025, current through 2030) documents this performance. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., can confirm your zone's specific requirements and order the Class A option if needed—typically at no additional cost.
