Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salem Woods

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salem Woods, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salem Woods.

Will metal roofing hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens in freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt or wood. Salem Woods experiences about 87 freeze-thaw days per year, plus roughly 103 cm of snow, which creates constant material cycling. Aluminum expands and contracts predictably without cracking, splitting, or degrading. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) resists the repeated moisture and temperature swings that compromise traditional shingles. Your roof won't develop the splits and curls that force asphalt replacement every 15–20 years.

Can a metal roof rust in a humid climate like Wisconsin?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel, doubling protection against moisture from Salem Woods's 824 mm annual rainfall and high humidity. Even if scratched during installation or by a branch, the oxide layer regenerates. Steel roofs require constant maintenance to prevent rust; aluminum simply does not.

How does an aluminum metal roof handle heavy snow and ice buildup?

The smooth, interlocking panel surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, reducing dangerous ice dam formation. Salem Woods receives about 103 cm of snow annually, and the lightweight design — Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft — means panels flex slightly under load rather than bearing it rigidly like slate or tile would. The four-way interlocking seams lock panels together, so shifting snow doesn't separate the roof. Optional snow guards can be installed to control avalanche timing. The metal surface simply does not trap moisture the way porous asphalt does, preventing ice buildup at eaves.

Are metal roofing panels strong enough for Wisconsin wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Salem Woods's typical gust patterns averaging 92 km/h (57 mph). The locking mechanism — a cornerstone of the design since 1998 — prevents individual panels from lifting even in sustained wind. Installation to specification, combined with proper fastening into the solid deck, distributes lateral forces across the entire roof assembly. UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating confirms the structural rigidity required for severe weather.

Could a metal roof lower my homeowners insurance premium?

Your insurance company may offer discounts because Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, a protection level that exceeds asphalt and standard composition shingles. Many insurers recognize this durability and adjust premiums accordingly. In Wisconsin's climate, where thunderstorms bring unpredictable hail risk, a Class 4-rated roof is an asset. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification; you may recoup installation costs through premium reductions over 10–15 years.

Does reflective metal roofing actually reduce cooling costs in a cold climate?

Yes, even in cold climates. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat with up to 0.55 initial reflectance (Aged Copper Penny profile), reducing attic temperatures on sunny days. Salem Woods averages about 3045 sunshine hours per year — enough to make reflectance valuable even in winter, preventing excess heat loss through radiative cooling at night. The 0.84 thermal emissivity rating means the roof releases absorbed heat efficiently rather than trapping it. Lower summer cooling load plus winter performance means modest year-round energy savings that compound over 50+ years of ownership.

Can I install metal tile roofing over my existing roof without structural work?

Yes. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft — about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — so no structural reinforcement is required. Most existing roof decks support the installation directly. This advantage eliminates tens of thousands in framing or foundation upgrades that traditional tile demands. In Salem Woods, where annual snow load reaches 103 cm, the lightweight aluminum distributes that burden far more favorably than tile would. You avoid the costly structural assessment that concrete tile requires, and the installation process moves faster because crews need not reinforce joists or add support posts.

What warranty protection does Interlock offer, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant resale appeal. The Alunar coating itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D2244). Combined with aluminum's inherent corrosion resistance and the four-way interlocking system's structural integrity, most installations outlast 60+ years. This is genuinely the last roof most homeowners will buy.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or tile?

Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles demand annual inspections, re-nailing, and algae removal; wood needs sealing and split repair; tile requires mortar repointing. Interlock panels are sealed at all seams with a solid deck and underlayment beneath, preventing water infiltration and eliminating the debris accumulation that traditional materials suffer. Salem Woods's 824 mm annual rainfall and 87 freeze-thaw cycles would accelerate asphalt granule loss and wood splitting; aluminum simply resists this stress. Periodic visual inspection is all that's needed. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance burden.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Significantly. Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable — panels at end of life return to the recycling stream indefinitely without degradation. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, tear off every 15–25 years and contribute to landfills; Salem Woods contributes thousands of tons annually across the region. Interlock has been manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, reducing the industry's landfill footprint and supporting a circular economy. The lightweight design also means lower transportation emissions during installation compared to concrete tile. By choosing aluminum once, you eliminate the asphalt tear-off cycle entirely for 50–100 years, removing decades of landfill burden from your property's lifetime carbon footprint.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Salem Woods’s climate?

Yes. Salem Woods averages about 103 cm of snow, 824 mm of rain, roughly 87 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 92 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
