Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.

Review: September 27, 2023Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: July 27, 2023Completion: May 22, 2023

The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Review: May 9, 2023Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

Review: October 26, 2022Completion: October 17, 2022

The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fox River Shores

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fox River Shores, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fox River Shores.

How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin snow and ice buildup?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, reducing ice dam risk during Fox River Shores' 120 freeze-thaw cycles per year. With about 98 cm of snow annually and gusts reaching 97 km/h, four-way interlocking panels remain structurally sound under load. The warranty covers snow-related damage, and optional snow guards can be installed where needed to direct slide patterns safely. Unlike shingles that trap moisture in freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum's non-porous surface resists the repeated expansion that causes premature failure.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling damage some roofs but not aluminum?

Freeze-thaw damage occurs when water absorbs into porous materials, then expands as it freezes—asphalt and wood are vulnerable. Aluminum is non-porous; water cannot penetrate the material itself. Fox River Shores experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year with annual snowfall around 98 cm, making material selection critical. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) resists this cycling indefinitely, while its self-healing oxide layer prevents corrosion even when the surface is scratched, addressing the freeze-thaw stress that degrades conventional roofing within 15–20 years.

Can a metal roof withstand Wisconsin's high winds and seasonal gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Fox River Shores typically experiences gusts around 97 km/h (about 60 mph), well within the panel's design envelope. The four-way lock system—where each panel interlocks on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This design has proven effective in coastal installations exposed to much higher sustained winds. You receive full confidence that seasonal and storm gusts won't lift, separate, or damage your roof.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and can I get insurance discounts?

Aluminum roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and Interlock's warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating demonstrates performance that many insurers recognize favorably; contact your agent to ask about premium reductions. Hail is less frequent in Kenosha County than in plains states, but the coverage you receive is comprehensive. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent, crack, and lose granules in impacts, aluminum's hardness resists permanent deformation. The combination of proven impact resistance and a material that sheds rather than absorbs impact energy often results in lower long-term insurance costs.

Can reflective metal roofing reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. With roughly 3,073 sunshine hours annually in the Fox River Shores area, every sunny day during spring, summer, and early fall reduces air-conditioning load. Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable energy performance. The reflective advantage compounds year-round: in winter, lower radiant loss from the panel surface minimizes heat escape; in summer, reduced interior heat gain lowers cooling demand. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings alone can offset a significant portion of material cost.

Is a metal roof heavy enough to require roof reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—while delivering the aesthetic. The Cedar Shingle weighs 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most existing roof structures in Fox River Shores can support this weight without modification, and the panels install directly over asphalt shingles, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill waste. This lightweight advantage matters when annual snowfall reaches 98 cm: the roof adds negligible load while shedding snow and ice efficiently. You avoid expensive structural upgrades while gaining a 50-year material warranted for the original owner and transferable 50 years to the next.

What is the lifetime warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and can it transfer?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated, lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion date. This structure means you install a roof your family will never replace, and when you sell, the warranty transfers, adding significant curb appeal and buyer confidence. Unlike asphalt shingles (15–20 years) or wood (25–40 years), you escape the cycle of tear-offs and landfill disposal. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty and proven performance in climates ranging from coastal salt air to Antarctica, the Guardian Warranty reflects genuine durability, not marketing language.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require?

Virtually none compared to asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles demand regular inspection and eventual replacement of curling, cracked, or missing shingles—especially after 120 days of freeze-thaw cycling annually in Fox River Shores. Wood shake requires periodic treatments against rot and insect damage. Aluminum sheds water and debris naturally; its non-porous surface resists moisture penetration and doesn't support algae or mold growth. Occasional rinses—during 760 mm of annual rainfall—keep gutters clear. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance burden. You avoid the labor, cost, and environmental impact of repair cycles. Insurance and property management companies increasingly recognize this low-maintenance advantage, sometimes offering reduced inspection requirements.

Is aluminum roofing actually more sustainable than asphalt shingles?

Yes, substantially. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable, and aluminum recycling consumes only 5% of the energy required to produce virgin aluminum. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are composite—fiberglass mat, asphalt, and granules—and end in landfills where they persist for decades. Over a typical 50-year ownership period in Fox River Shores, you avoid three to four asphalt tear-offs and disposal events. Each tear-off generates waste, truck emissions, and landfill volume. At end of life, aluminum panels can be recycled indefinitely without degradation of material properties. This lifecycle advantage compounds: your choice eliminates the asphalt tear-off cycle entirely, reduces your home's landfill footprint by tons, and supports circular material use. For homeowners prioritizing environmental impact, aluminum roofing is the material choice with measurable, auditable sustainability.

Can metal roofing install over my existing asphalt shingles, and how long does installation take?

Yes. The lightweight aluminum panels (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) install over most existing asphalt roofs without removal, saving demolition labor and landfill fees. A solid deck and proper ventilation are required; your Interlock installer assesses your structure during the estimate. Installation timeline depends on roof size and weather, but the local Interlock team, serving the region since 2001, completes most residential projects in 1–3 days. With gusts around 97 km/h typical in Kenosha County, installation coordination includes weather windows. The over-existing-roof approach means minimal disruption to your home: no multi-day tear-off, no debris staging, no extended interior dust. You gain a finished, Class A fire-rated (ESR-1790 rated) roof with the added insulation benefit of an air space, improving attic performance during Wisconsin winters.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Fox River Shores’s climate?

Yes. Fox River Shores averages about 98 cm of snow, 760 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
