Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Resident at the home was dissatisfied with the clean up as a mess was left on the deck area.

Review: September 27, 2023Completion: August 29, 2023

It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.

Review: July 27, 2023Completion: May 22, 2023

The crew did a very good job. They were very cordial and answered all my questions very well. The timeframe for when it was going to be completed fell short of my expectations. I don't know if they can do anything about it, but we are still getting remnants from when they cut. I just picked up another piece today. When they are cutting, they are probably leaving those things on the roof somewhere, and eventually they blow down and are sharp. I worry about people walking on them.

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Review: May 9, 2023Completion: March 24, 2023

They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!

Review: October 26, 2022Completion: October 17, 2022

The communication could be improved, as well as the follow-up. I wonder how responsive they will be in the future. Their work was amazing but the communication wasn't. Communication was very poor, but the roof is amazing and its quality good.

Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wheatland

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wheatland, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wheatland.

How does a metal roof handle Wheatland's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, and the four-way interlocking panels lock together so snow load transfers predictably through the structure. Wheatland receives about 82 cm of snow annually across roughly 80 freeze-thaw days, which breaks down asphalt over time; aluminum's oxide layer never weakens from thermal cycling. Snow guards are available if you want to retain snow for insulation or prevent slides onto walkways.

Why won't my metal roof rust in Wheatland's rainy climate?

Interlock panels are manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains no iron—the element that rusts. When aluminum oxidizes, it forms a microscopic protective layer that self-heals when scratched, creating a permanent barrier. Wheatland averages 835 mm of rain yearly, yet aluminum thrives in wet climates; steel roofs by contrast require ongoing maintenance and eventually fail. Your roof will not rust, period.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Wisconsin damage my metal roof over time?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts predictably with temperature swings and suffers no degradation from the 80 annual freeze-thaw days Wheatland experiences. Unlike asphalt shingles, which become brittle and crack as freeze-thaw cycles weaken their binders, aluminum's crystalline structure is immune to this type of fatigue. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating remains flexible through thousands of thermal cycles, backed by a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244).

Can a metal roof survive Wheatland's wind gusts?

Yes. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Wheatland's typical gusts around 99 km/h (about 62 mph). Each panel locks into its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This engineering is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), so your roof meets or exceeds regional building codes.

What hail protection does an Interlock metal roof offer?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating and Guardian Warranty details. Wheatland's 835 mm annual rainfall and typical wind patterns mean hail is a real risk, and aluminum's hardness absorbs impact energy far better than asphalt or wood shingles.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—which visually replicates heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. This means you can install metal roofing over most existing roofs without structural upgrades, saving thousands in labor and materials while delivering the aesthetic of premium tile or natural materials.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially but lasts far longer and requires minimal maintenance, making it your final roof purchase. Asphalt shingles typically fail within 15-20 years in climates like Wheatland, which sees 835 mm annual rain and 80 freeze-thaw cycles; metal roofs routinely exceed 50 years. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then one-time transferable for 50 years to the next owner. Over four or five decades, fewer replacements and tear-offs mean lower total cost and zero landfill waste from your roof.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof require?

Essentially none beyond occasional inspection. Unlike asphalt shingles that require regular maintenance or wood shakes that rot and split, aluminum panels do not degrade or require sealing. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (applied to both sides) is rated for 30 years against fading and chalk. You may rinse leaves or debris after storms, but there is no re-roofing, re-caulking, or chemical treatment needed. This low-maintenance profile is CALGreen-verified, freeing you from the ongoing costs that drain asphalt and tile budgets.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Wheatland, Wisconsin?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Kenosha County region and surrounding areas since 2001, bringing over two decades of local expertise to Wheatland and neighboring communities. Our team understands Wisconsin's climate—heavy snow loads, freeze-thaw cycling, and gusts to 99 km/h—and installs five signature profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. We handle everything from assessment through installation and warranty support, so your roof is backed by local knowledge and accountability.

Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable; at end of life, the material returns to the supply chain rather than a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, contribute millions of tons to landfill waste annually and must be torn off and replaced every 15-20 years—each cycle adds waste and carbon from transport and labor. Choosing aluminum means one installation lasts your lifetime and the next owner's 50 years, eliminating the repetitive tear-off cycle. Wheatland's 3,094 annual sunshine hours also pair well with energy-efficient colors that reflect heat, lowering cooling demand.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Wheatland’s climate?

Yes. Wheatland averages about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
