Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Inland Woods

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Inland Woods, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Inland Woods.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Wisconsin damage a metal roof?

No — aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when exposed to freeze-thaw stress, getting tougher rather than brittle. With about 87 freeze-thaw days per year in Kenosha County and roughly 103 cm of snow, your roof faces real cycling, but the 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) doesn't absorb water and won't crack, split, or curl the way asphalt and wood do. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against degradation, seals both panel faces against moisture penetration. That's why Interlock roofs installed in coastal salt-air zones and Antarctic research stations survive identical thermal punishment without material failure.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum contains no iron, so rust — which requires iron oxide — is chemically impossible. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that seals the metal underneath; when that layer is scratched or worn, it self-heals in the presence of air and moisture. Steel roofing relies on paint or coatings to stay ahead of rust, but once the coating fails (often after 15–20 years in wet climates like Inland Woods, with 824 mm of annual rainfall), the underlying metal oxidizes. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3003-H24 and 3105-H24 aluminum with a two-sided Alunar® PVDF finish that outlasts the steel-roofing cycle by decades, guaranteeing no rusting under the Guardian lifetime limited warranty.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice dams in Wisconsin winter?

The four-way interlocking seams shed snow and ice water continuously because metal conducts heat and expands/contracts uniformly, preventing the localized ice buildup that creates dams on asphalt. With about 103 cm of snow annually in Kenosha County, load isn't the issue — aluminum's weight at 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile means the roof itself adds almost nothing to structural burden, leaving your framing to handle only the snow mass itself. The interlocking design also accommodates snow guard installation if you want to manage slide patterns. Ice dams typically occur when attic heat melts roof snow, then refrozen meltwater backs up; metal roofs don't insulate (that's your attic's job), so they promote natural melt-and-shed rather than the thermal trapping that asphalt creates.

Can a metal roof stand up to Wisconsin wind gusts?

Yes — the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec, and Kenosha County's typical gusts around 92 km/h (57 mph) are well within that envelope. The mechanical locking system distributes wind load across multiple panel edges so a single gust can't catch an edge and peel panels free the way it can with shingle tabs. Ice-load winds are particularly dangerous because frozen moisture adds weight and surface area; the non-absorbent aluminum doesn't trap ice buildup the way asphalt does, reducing the cumulative wind-plus-ice risk. In 24 years of manufacturing (since 1998), Interlock has equipped roofs in coastal hurricanes and alpine wind corridors without the blow-off failures common to conventional roofing in those zones.

Will a metal roof reduce my homeowners insurance after a hailstorm?

Metal roofing's hail performance often qualifies for insurance discounts because Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize that Class 4 impact resistance means fewer claims, and some offer 10–15% premium reductions for metal roofs in hail-prone regions. Inland Woods averages modest hail exposure, but the coverage is comprehensive: if impact does occur, you're not replacing half the roof while the other half stays intact. Contact your insurer before installation with the UL 2218 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation; many have streamlined the discount process for metal roofs that meet these standards.

Do I need to reinforce my house frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Interlock Tile profile, which replicates the heaviest traditional option, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft — roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to your existing framing capacity. Most homes built in the last 40 years were already designed to carry asphalt shingles (around 2–3 lb/sq ft) or slate (7–10 lb/sq ft), so aluminum actually reduces load. This matters in Kenosha County where about 103 cm of snow falls annually; a lighter roof means your structure handles the snow mass more safely without the added dead load of heavy roofing material. You can often install over your existing shingles without tear-off, further saving labor and landfill impact.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 bounce heat away rather than absorbing it the way dark asphalt does. Inland Woods gets about 3045 sunshine hours annually, so summer cooling is a real budget factor. Reflectance values are measured and verified by the Cool Roof Rating Council; thermal emissivity of 0.84 means the roof also radiates absorbed heat efficiently. Compared to standard dark asphalt shingles (reflectance ~0.05–0.10), a light-colored metal roof can reduce attic temperatures by 20–30°F on a sunny day, cutting air-conditioning runtime. Winter advantage: in a cold climate with 87 freeze-thaw cycles per year, you're not trapped between ice-damming heat loss (asphalt) and frozen condensation (unvented metal); proper attic ventilation works the same as with any roof, but the metal doesn't amplify thermal cycling stress.

What's the actual lifespan and warranty on an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — the failure modes that plague asphalt and wood within 20–30 years. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, meaningful protection if you resell. The Alunar® PVDF coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured by ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards). In practice, Interlock panels installed since 1998 in salt-air, freeze-thaw, and high-UV environments show minimal degradation after 20+ years; the non-iron aluminum chemistry and two-sided coating mean there's no rust failure mode that could shorten the timeline. Most installations outlast the house itself, but the warranty structure protects you and the next owner against material defects.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning and inspection. Asphalt requires granule-loss monitoring, algae treatment in humid climates, and shingle replacement starting around year 15–20; wood shake needs annual cleaning, fungicide treatment, and individual shake replacement as they split and curl — both are labor-intensive. Aluminum doesn't rot, degrade, or attract moss growth the way porous materials do. Inland Woods' 824 mm annual rainfall and 103 cm snow mean gutters will fill, but the roof itself requires no coating refresh, no UV-damage repair, and no seasonal maintenance. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demand. You'll save thousands on labor over 40+ years compared to re-coating or re-shingling an asphalt roof every 20 years or hand-replacing wood shakes. A simple annual inspection and debris clearance is routine — not specialized.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Inland Woods?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer and installer, has served the Kenosha County region since 2001. That's 23+ years of local project history, trained crews familiar with Wisconsin snow loads, freeze-thaw conditions, and building code enforcement (the roof is ICC-ES ESR-1790 approved for IBC/IRC, reissued 2025). Working directly with the factory means you get genuine panels, proper tooling, and warranty support backed by the company that engineered the interlocking system. Local installation also shortens lead times and allows walk-through of materials before work begins. When you're replacing a roof in a freeze-thaw climate with 87 annual cycles and gusts to 92 km/h, having a crew that understands regional conditions and has a two-decade track record nearby is worth the transparency.
