Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oakwood Knolls

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oakwood Knolls, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oakwood Knolls.

How does a metal roof handle the 120 cm of snow Oakwood Knolls gets each winter?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more readily than asphalt because aluminum conducts and radiates heat differently, and the smooth interlocking seams create no lip for snow to catch. Oakwood Knolls receives about 98 cm of snow annually with roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year, which makes the self-healing oxide layer on Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum especially valuable—it won't crack or embrittle as traditional materials do under repeated freeze cycles. You can add snow guards if you prefer to retain snow for insulation or control runoff direction.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Wisconsin require special roofing material?

When water infiltrates wood or asphalt shingles and freezes (a regular occurrence on Oakwood Knolls' 81 freeze-thaw days per year), it expands and cracks the material from inside. Aluminum doesn't absorb water and won't rot, split, or curl under those cycles. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms Interlock's four-way interlocking panels resist this stress, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects against chalking and fading even when ice and salt are present. You eliminate the annual inspection worries that come with wood-based or asphalt roofs.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Wisconsin's wet climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When exposed to air and moisture (Oakwood Knolls averages 760 mm of rain yearly), aluminum forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, providing permanent protection. Interlock roofing uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and applies the Alunar fluorocarbon finish to both panel sides, which is especially critical in humid climates where corrosion risk is highest. You'll never face the rust staining or structural decay that can plague steel or galvanized roofs.

Do metal roofs blow off in Wisconsin wind and thunderstorms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above the gusts (about 97 km/h) recorded in Oakwood Knolls. The interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This is verified in the ESR-1790 evaluation for IBC/IRC compliance, ensuring your roof meets Wisconsin building code requirements. High-wind events won't leave you with missing panels or leaks.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get insurance discounts?

Hail impact resistance is measurable and insurable. Interlock metal roofing carries the highest impact rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this and may offer premium discounts on homeowners policies because aluminum's rigidity and density mean it rarely dents or punctures, unlike asphalt or wood shingles. Contact your agent to ask about savings; the documentation of Class 4 rating often opens that conversation.

Is a lightweight metal roof safe on an older Wisconsin home?

Yes, and the weight savings are dramatic. Interlock's Slate profile weighs only about 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake about 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Tile about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof typically installs directly over your existing shingles without costly framing upgrades. The light weight actually reduces structural stress and helps older homes in Oakwood Knolls avoid settling or sagging issues that heavier materials can cause. Interlock has been installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station, proving the system performs under extreme conditions.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock offers the Guardian Warranty—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner that covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That's one warranty the next owner can transfer once, extending coverage 50 years from completion. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, and installed worldwide (from salt-air coasts to Antarctica), Interlock aluminum roofs typically outlast three asphalt roofs. With about 3,073 sunshine hours annually in Oakwood Knolls, the 30-year Alunar coating warranty protects against fading and chalking under consistent UV exposure.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Upfront, metal costs more; over the roof's life, the math shifts dramatically. You'll replace asphalt shingles at least once (often twice) while your metal roof remains sound. Factor in the Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage, zero maintenance versus annual asphalt inspections, no seasonal repairs from 81 freeze-thaw days per year, and the potential for insurance discounts (Class 4 hail rating), and metal typically costs less over 40+ years. Many homeowners view it as their last roof—one purchase instead of a cycle of replacements and repairs.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Wisconsin's sunny climate?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect summer heat that asphalt absorbs and traps. While Oakwood Knolls averages 3,073 sunshine hours per year and a cool mean temperature of 8.5°C, summer days still demand air conditioning. A reflective metal roof reduces the temperature spike in your attic and can lower cooling run-time and costs. The Cool Roof Rating Council confirms the benefit, and you'll see the difference most clearly on clear, sunny days—which happen frequently throughout the Wisconsin year.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock aluminum requires minimal maintenance: occasional leaf gutter cleaning and a rinse in salty air (if applicable). Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade under Oakwood Knolls' 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles and need sealing or repairs, aluminum won't crack, curl, or lose granules. Unlike wood shake, it won't split or rot. Unlike tile, it won't break or require mortar repair. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance compared to traditional materials. Most homeowners inspect twice yearly (spring and fall) and find nothing to repair—that peace of mind is worth a great deal.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Oakwood Knolls’s climate?

Yes. Oakwood Knolls averages about 98 cm of snow, 760 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
