I told them I was not interested in buying that day. I was just doing my research on what building materials were available so that I would know when I am ready in the future.

Review: October 9, 2020Completion: June 25, 2020

When the product was supposed to be delivered, we had problems. We had a message from the company saying Monday would be the date. No one appeared. A week later, we were out shopping and they called to tell us they delivered it. The supervisor of the installation waited in the truck for us to get back and open the garage. He had to put it in the garage because the big truck couldn't wait. Overall, we are very satisfied. We had a lot of bushes around the house. I would have thought they would have cleaned a bit better. They cleaned the big things, but they didn't pick up the little things. I'm sure it is hard to do, though.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hampshire Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hampshire Township, Illinois. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hampshire Township.

Will an aluminum metal roof handle Hampshire Township's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum thrives through freeze-thaw stress because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splintering. The Alunar PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214), protects the aluminum substrate through roughly 81 annual freeze-thaw days in your area. Unlike asphalt, wood, or concrete tile, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so microfractures from thermal cycling don't propagate into leaks. With about 920 mm of rain and 77 cm of snow annually, you need a roof that moves fluidly—metal does.

How does a metal roof handle snow buildup and ice dams in Kane County?

The smooth, slippery surface of metal panels encourages snow and ice to slide off naturally rather than accumulate and create ice-dam conditions. Hampshire Township receives roughly 77 cm of snow per year; the four-way interlocking design of Interlock panels resists wind gusts up to 105 km/h, so panels stay securely seated even as snow loads shift. Optional snow guards can be added if you prefer gradual shedding for safety. The aluminum's light weight—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no structural concerns even during heavy snow events.

Can an aluminum roof rust in Hampshire Township's rainy climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air and moisture. This is why Interlock panels have been installed in harsh coastal salt-air homes and an Antarctic research station since 1998. Hampshire Township's climate—roughly 920 mm annual rainfall and occasional wind gusts to 105 km/h—poses no corrosion threat to roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish on both panel surfaces adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, giving you complete peace of mind about discoloration or degradation.

Is a metal roof safe in the wind storms we get around here?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—well above the typical gusts of 105 km/h observed in this area. The mechanical interlock on all four edges means each panel is locked to its neighbors, distributing wind loads across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. Kane County's average daily winds of about 19 km/h, even with occasional severe gusts, pose no durability risk. Installation over a solid deck with proper fastening ensures your roof stays put through years of weather.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and could it lower my homeowners insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This top-tier rating may qualify you for insurance premium discounts; contact your insurer with the product specification sheet. Hampshire Township averages about 3037 sunshine hours per year, so hail risk is relatively modest, but when severe weather does strike, aluminum's non-combustibility (Class A fire rating available) and impact resilience offer genuine protection. Many insurers recognize metal roofing's durability and may adjust your premiums accordingly.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

A metal roof is the last roof you'll buy, whereas asphalt shingles require replacement every 15–20 years. Over 50 years, the lifecycle cost of Interlock—with its lifetime limited warranty (50-year transfer term) and minimal maintenance—is lower than multiple asphalt replacements, tear-off disposal fees, and labor. The four-way interlocking panels install over most existing roofs, reducing labor costs and eliminating expensive tear-off waste. With Hampshire Township's roughly 81 freeze-thaw days annually, the superior durability of aluminum against thermal stress justifies the initial investment many times over.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover and how long does it last?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, extending 50 years of coverage to the next owner—a rare commitment. Combined with the Alunar coating's 30-year fading/chalking warranty (ASTM D4214), you're protected against the material defects that plague asphalt and tile. Hampshire Township's climate, with 77 cm of snow and roughly 920 mm rain annually, tests roofing materials severely; this warranty reflects Interlock's confidence in durability under real-world conditions.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing actually serve Hampshire Township?

Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing has served this region since 2001 and installs all five profile styles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile) throughout Kane County. Local installation expertise means your roof is installed to specification for proper wind resistance (warranted to 120 mph) and leak protection in your specific climate. With about 920 mm annual rainfall and winter conditions including roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles, you benefit from an installer familiar with Hampshire Township's exact weather demands. Direct local service also simplifies any future maintenance or warranty claims.

Will my house's structure need reinforcement for a metal roof?

No—aluminum's light weight eliminates the need for structural reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, while the Shingle installs at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft. This featherweight construction allows Interlock panels to install over most existing roofs, saving money and avoiding the structural engineering costs that slate or tile demand. Hampshire Township homeowners can upgrade to the aesthetic of premium materials without foundation or framing concerns. The light load even reduces stress during freeze-thaw cycles and heavy snow events—roughly 77 cm annually in your area.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Absolutely—aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, whereas asphalt shingles end up in landfills after 15–20 years. Each replacement cycle in Hampshire Township's climate—with about 81 annual freeze-thaw days stressing asphalt—means more waste. Interlock's lifetime warranty ends that tear-off cycle; one roof lasts a lifetime and can be recycled. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum is manufactured in Delta, BC, and its four-way interlocking design minimizes material waste during installation. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, metal roofing breaks the asphalt-to-landfill pattern that affects thousands of homes nationwide.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Hampshire Township’s climate?

Yes. Hampshire Township averages about 77 cm of snow, 920 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 105 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
