Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Blind Slough, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
We have only had our new roof for 3 months & we are so far satisfied with the quality of the materials. However, nearly every other part of our experience was less than satisfactory. We cannot risk our credibility to encourage someone we know to pay a premium price for this experience. Despite our request, we still have not received any documentation regarding our roof warranty nor information about future care/maintenance or repairs of the roof. And since our experience has been less than satisfying, we dread having to ever contact Interlock in the future for any assistance about the roof.
I have already recommended Interlock roofing and will continue to do so as I don’t think you could get a better roof for the money spent. The start time delays were the only issue for the whole job.
I would have liked them to use their own equipment instead of using my new ladder. Homeowner works on an oil tanker and will be away from the home for the next 2 months. He was there for the start of the project but not the completion. Wife signed off on the project with the contingency that he is satisfied with it when he finally come back to look at it.
We appreciate their understanding in terminating the contract.
Interlock Roofing could improve on informing me of outlying factors while they were completing the roof and they don't return calls. The roof placed on our home by Interlock Roofing leaks because the siding was bad on one side of the roof and Interlock Roofing did not inform me while they were replacing the roof. When I reached out to Interlock Roofing, they stated the siding was good when they placed the roof and stated they would replace the siding but they will no longer answer my phone calls and we still have a leaking roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Blind Slough
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Blind Slough, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Blind Slough.
How does a metal roof handle Blind Slough's annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth aluminum surface provides no grip; Blind Slough averages about 55 cm of snow per year and roughly 22 freeze-thaw days, both conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles but barely stress aluminum. Interlock panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which handles the region's typical gusts to 97 km/h plus snow load pressure. The four-way interlocking design stays watertight during repeated thaw cycles, and you can add snow guards to any profile if local slopes or overhangs demand them.
With 1800mm of rain annually, will a metal roof leak in Blind Slough?
No—Blind Slough's 1805 mm annual rainfall is exactly the environment where metal roofs prove their worth. Water sheds immediately off the smooth surface and the four-way interlocking seams create a labyrinth that forces water sideways and down, not inward. Unlike asphalt shingles that soften, curl, and eventually fail under constant moisture exposure, aluminum panels contain zero iron and cannot rust; their oxide layer self-heals when scratched. Combined with a solid deck and quality underlayment, you're installing leak protection that lasts, not a temporary fix that deteriorates year after year in wet climates.
Why does aluminum never rust, and what does that mean for my Clatsop County roof?
Aluminum has no iron content, so rust—which is oxidized iron—is physically impossible. Instead, aluminum oxidizes into a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath and actually strengthens over time. In Clatsop County's moist, windy climate, this is critical: a steel roof would require constant inspection and maintenance to catch rust before it spreads, while Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) plus its two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading) work together to ignore salt air, high humidity, and 97 km/h gusts without corrosion or degradation.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and is it any good in Blind Slough?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material guarantee for the original owner—meaning no dollar limits, no depreciation over time—that covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which protects resale value. In Blind Slough's wet, freeze-thaw climate, this matters: asphalt shingles crack and curl under 22 annual freeze-thaw cycles, wood shakes rot under 1805 mm of rain, and concrete tiles split when wet. Aluminum does none of these things, so the warranty is insurance you'll almost never file—proof the product is engineered for exactly this region's 55 cm annual snow and coastal conditions.
Does a metal roof stay on during Blind Slough's windstorms?
Yes. Interlock panels lock together on four sides, creating a continuous mechanical interlock that resists uplift far better than nailed shingles flapping in gusts. The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h); Blind Slough's record gusts of 97 km/h are well below that threshold, with typical daily-max winds around 15 km/h. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) also means the panels won't flex or fail under the combined stress of high wind and heavy snow load—two conditions your region sees together most winters. Over a 50-year roof life, that consistent engineering saves you from the repairs and insurance claims asphalt roofs incur every few years.
Can my Blind Slough home's frame handle a metal roof, or do I need to reinforce it?
No structural reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—while the Slate runs even lighter. Your home already carries the weight of rain-soaked asphalt shingles (17–20 lb/sq ft when wet) and seasonal snow loads (55 cm in Blind Slough = significant pressure). Metal actually reduces structural stress, which means most existing roofs can be re-roofed directly over old shingles without costly framing upgrades. This cuts installation labor, timeline, and waste: you're not tearing off old material, you're installing a permanent layer on top that's as light as the water it sheds.
How much upkeep does an Interlock metal roof need in a rainy climate?
Almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles—which need moss removal, debris clearing, and regular inspection in wet climates—or wood shakes that rot and split, or tile that cracks, Interlock metal requires no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Blind Slough's 1805 mm annual rainfall and 22 freeze-thaw days are conditions where asphalt deteriorates and wood rots; aluminum ignores them. The two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured), so color stays true. Most owners go decades without touching their roof—no sealant reapplication, no shingle replacement, no professional moss treatment. That's the real cost savings: the roof you don't have to manage.
What's the timeline and disruption for installing an Interlock metal roof in Blind Slough?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997 and understands Blind Slough's weather windows. Most residential installs complete in 3 to 5 days depending on roof size and complexity. The game-changer: metal installs over your existing roof, so no tear-off means no days of exposed framing, no debris truck parked in your driveway, and no waste heading to the landfill. Your home stays weather-tight throughout the process. Because aluminum panels weigh ~0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile), installation crews move faster and safer than with heavy traditional materials. The regional promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, so financing the project doesn't add urgency to an already-quick installation.
Is an aluminum metal roof fire-safe for a Blind Slough home?
Absolutely. Aluminum is non-combustible—it won't burn, release smoke, or spread fire. Interlock offers Class A fire classification (the highest rating), certified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (the current 2025 IBC/IRC evaluation report). This matters especially in Oregon, where wildfire risk is taken seriously and some insurers reward non-combustible roofing with premium discounts. Unlike asphalt shingles (Class C or lower, combustible) or wood shakes (major fuel source), aluminum stays inert even in extreme heat. Combined with the product's CALGreen verification for reduced maintenance and its ~95% recyclability at end of life, you're choosing a roof that's safe for your family, compliant with current building codes, and responsible to the region's fire-safety standards.
Will an Interlock metal roof help me sell my Blind Slough home?
Yes, both immediately and decades later. Metal roofing appeals to serious buyers because it eliminates the largest deferred maintenance risk on a home: most buyers budget $8,000–$15,000 for a roof replacement within five years of purchase. You're handing them a 50-year-transferable warranty (non-prorated for the next owner) instead of a 15-year liability. The profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, Standing Seam—add visual interest that complements Blind Slough's coastal and country character without the maintenance headaches of actual wood or tile. Buyers see durability, lower insurance costs, and no roof worries for a generation. The curb appeal is genuine because the engineering is genuine: this roof won't fail, leak, or disappoint them the way asphalt roofs do in wet climates with 22 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
