Review: June 15, 2019 Completion: February 12, 2018

My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.

Review: July 15, 2023 Completion: April 25, 2023

I wish there were a 4.75 rating, or something between 4 and 5, because although we are quite happy with our new roof...my policy is \*never\* to give a 5 out of 5 rating (because there is no such thing as perfection, and when everyone gives 5 stars, as seems to be the case nowadays, then 5 stars means nothing). We now have a beautiful (just ask our neighbors, several of whom have made it a point to tell us that they love it), but more important, high quality, life-guaranteed interlock roof. This is on the Oregon coast, and if you live on the coast or know anyone who does, you may know that "beach time" prevails, and local work crews will often start a job and disappear for "surf's up" or other beach distraction/things. Not in this case. What our friends (who had an interlock roof installed, several years ago) told us was was true: when the interlock installation crew was here, they \*worked,\* long and hard, and as long as the light (and weather conditions) would allow. The installation went smoothy, save for two glitches: (1) a gap due to the weather (not sure why the scheduler scheduled our project to start when the forecast clearly was for rain); (2) the person who measured our two skylights, which were being replaced as part of the installation, ordered the wrong size (which added another half day on to the installation, as the installer crew lead had to drive to Portland to get the correct size). But neither of those two glitches were the installation crew's fault, and we were impressed with the crew's work, their friendliness, and their cleanup afterward (and every day of the job - they did not leave trash lying about). I did my research before comparing and checking out varous kinds of roofs (e.g. comp; metal) and was highly motivated to get the interlock roof, and am glad that we did so. Bring on the hurricane, we are not afraid! Positive: Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Netarts

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Netarts, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Netarts.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust in Netarts' coastal salt air?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—even in salt environments. Its natural oxide layer acts as a self-healing barrier that reforms when scratched. Interlock panels are coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, offering extra protection against Tillamook County's 2066 mm annual rainfall and coastal salt spray. The coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, tested to ASTM standards. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires paint maintenance; aluminum requires none.

How does a metal roof handle Netarts' snow and ice buildup?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and freeze. Netarts averages about 47 cm of snow annually with roughly 16 freeze–thaw cycles per year—conditions that accelerate ice-dam formation on traditional roofs. Metal's low thermal mass and reflective coating minimize heat retention, reducing the melt-refreeze cycle. Snow guards can be installed on profiles like Slate or Cedar Shingle to manage runoff safely. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even under snow load.

Will a metal roof survive Netarts' coastal wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Netarts experiences typical daily winds of about 17 km/h with gusts recorded to 136 km/h—well within the roof's design capacity. The mechanical interlock system prevents panel flutter or uplift that can occur with loose fastening methods. This engineering is validated in ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, which governs residential roofing under IBC/IRC codes.

What hail protection does an aluminum metal roof offer?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating demonstrates resistance to 2-inch steel ball impacts at 120 mph. Some insurers offer discounts on premiums for Class 4 roofs because impact damage claims are far less frequent than with asphalt or tile. Tillamook County's temperate climate rarely produces severe hail, but when it does, your roof's durability is proven and warrantied. Request your insurer's discount eligibility when the roof is installed.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in a region that gets 2800+ hours of sun?

Yes, through reflectance. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These properties mean the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Netarts receives approximately 2884 annual sunshine hours—enough for reflective coatings to meaningfully reduce cooling demand on warmer days. Over a 50-year roof life, this translates to measurable energy savings, especially as coastal fog clears in summer months.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No. Interlock aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roof structures can support metal without reinforcement, and many installations proceed directly over the old roof, eliminating tear-off costs and landfill waste. This advantage is especially valuable in older Netarts homes where adding 20+ tons of slate or tile would require expensive structural upgrades. ESR-1790 compliance confirms the design meets IBC/IRC standards for residential installations.

What does Interlock's warranty actually cover over its lifetime?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from installation completion. This structure acknowledges aluminum's genuine durability—no rust, no rot—while transferability adds resale appeal. Few roofing products offer such terms. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty on chalking and fading, you're protected against the main degradation mechanisms that plague asphalt over Netarts' 2066 mm annual rainfall.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or tile?

Aluminum metal roofs require virtually no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Unlike asphalt shingles—which curl, crack, and shed granules under Netarts' 16 annual freeze–thaw cycles—or clay tile, which requires sealing and re-grouting, aluminum never rots, rusts, or splits. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating resists coastal salt spray and requires no repainting. Netarts' 2066 mm annual rainfall keeps the roof clean naturally. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden, lowering your lifetime ownership cost compared to materials demanding regular repair or replacement.

Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost in Netarts?

Metal roofing costs 10–15% more than asphalt upfront but lasts 50+ years versus asphalt's 15–25 year life, meaning you buy one metal roof instead of two or three asphalt roofs. Over 50 years, material cost per year drops significantly for metal. Add avoided tear-off disposal fees (asphalt roofs generate landfill waste; aluminum is ~95% recyclable), no maintenance spending, potential insurance discounts for Class 4 impact rating, and energy savings from reflective coatings. Financing promotions—currently no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—further narrow the gap. Netarts' high rainfall (2066 mm/year) and freeze–thaw cycling (16 days/year) accelerate asphalt degradation, shortening its value window.
