What our customers are saying:
My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.
I wish there were a 4.75 rating, or something between 4 and 5, because although we are quite happy with our new roof...my policy is \*never\* to give a 5 out of 5 rating (because there is no such thing as perfection, and when everyone gives 5 stars, as seems to be the case nowadays, then 5 stars means nothing). We now have a beautiful (just ask our neighbors, several of whom have made it a point to tell us that they love it), but more important, high quality, life-guaranteed interlock roof. This is on the Oregon coast, and if you live on the coast or know anyone who does, you may know that "beach time" prevails, and local work crews will often start a job and disappear for "surf's up" or other beach distraction/things. Not in this case. What our friends (who had an interlock roof installed, several years ago) told us was was true: when the interlock installation crew was here, they \*worked,\* long and hard, and as long as the light (and weather conditions) would allow. The installation went smoothy, save for two glitches: (1) a gap due to the weather (not sure why the scheduler scheduled our project to start when the forecast clearly was for rain); (2) the person who measured our two skylights, which were being replaced as part of the installation, ordered the wrong size (which added another half day on to the installation, as the installer crew lead had to drive to Portland to get the correct size). But neither of those two glitches were the installation crew's fault, and we were impressed with the crew's work, their friendliness, and their cleanup afterward (and every day of the job - they did not leave trash lying about). I did my research before comparing and checking out varous kinds of roofs (e.g. comp; metal) and was highly motivated to get the interlock roof, and am glad that we did so. Bring on the hurricane, we are not afraid! Positive: Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Garibaldi
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Garibaldi, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Garibaldi.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Garibaldi winters?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and resist ice formation better than asphalt. Garibaldi receives about 47 cm of snow annually with roughly 16 freeze-thaw cycles, creating ideal conditions for ice dams on conventional roofs. Aluminum's smooth, non-porous surface prevents moisture absorption and adhesion; the panels' standing-seam profiles naturally channel meltwater. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control snow release, and the system's lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural strain from accumulated snow load.
With 2000+ mm of rain per year, how does a metal roof stay dry in Garibaldi?
The four-way interlocking system creates a sealed envelope—water cannot pool or penetrate between panels. Garibaldi averages about 2066 mm of annual rainfall, and metal's speed of runoff actually outperforms asphalt, which can trap water in granules. Proper installation over a solid deck with underlayment (specified in ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance) ensures that heavy rain drains away rather than sitting. The interlocks are designed so water travels downslope by gravity; there are no vulnerable seams for heavy weather to exploit. Our local installer has served the region since 1997 and understands Tillamook County's wet marine climate.
Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a wet, coastal climate like Garibaldi?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in moisture. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that protects the underlying metal and actually self-heals when scratched. Garibaldi's 2066 mm annual rainfall and coastal proximity make rust-resistance critical; steel roofing would corrode in this environment. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is extra protection in salt-air zones, ensuring durability across decades of wet, windy conditions.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofing is typically higher upfront but becomes the last roof you buy, while asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt 2–3 times, accumulating labor and disposal costs; Interlock's lifetime limited material warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner) eliminates that cycle. In Garibaldi's heavy-rain environment (2066 mm/year), asphalt deteriorates faster due to moisture penetration and moss growth. Our current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—reduces the initial financial hurdle. Financing makes your monthly payment lower than future replacement cycles.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—fully non-prorated, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which adds significant resale appeal. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested). No other roofing material offers this combination: asphalt has 10–20 year warranties, wood shakes degrade in Garibaldi's 16 annual freeze-thaw cycles, and clay tile can crack. This warranty structure reflects the product's performance since 1998 across climates from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.
Will a metal roof withstand Garibaldi's wind and coastal storms?
Yes—Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Garibaldi experiences typical daily-maximum winds around 17 km/h with gusts reaching 136 km/h, well within the roof's rated capacity. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together at all four edges, preventing wind from lifting or separating individual sheets. Unlike asphalt shingles (vulnerable to wind peeling) or tile (which can shift or crack), the mechanical interlock is passive and doesn't degrade. Installation follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 protocols, which specify fastening patterns that distribute load across the entire structure, not just perimeter edges.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?
No—one of metal roofing's key advantages is its extraordinary lightness. The Mediterranean Tile profile, despite replicating the look of concrete or clay tile, installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft and is roughly 96% lighter than actual tile. This means it can go directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating expensive structural work. Garibaldi homes with older framing can upgrade to metal without costly reinforcement. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft. Because asphalt typically weighs 2–3 lb/sq ft and requires solid deck replacement, metal's lightweight design cuts both labor time and structural stress. Our local installer can assess your existing roof and confirm whether you're installation-ready during a free evaluation.
What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the roof has survived repeated impact from 2-inch steel balls without cracking. Garibaldi's marine climate makes severe hail less common than inland areas, but coastal thunderstorms can produce damaging ice pellets. Some insurers offer discounts (typically 5–15%) for Class 4-rated roofing because claims are rare. The non-combustible aluminum also qualifies for fire-discount eligibility. Contact your homeowner's insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation; they can quote your savings before you commit.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no granule replacement, no moss treatment, no wood staining. Asphalt shingles accumulate moss and algae in Garibaldi's wet climate (2066 mm rain, 2884 sunshine hours); wood shakes crack and split during the region's 16 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Interlock's aluminum is inert and non-porous, so it doesn't harbor growth or absorb moisture. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection after high wind (gusts to 136 km/h) are routine for any roof. The Alunar fluorocarbon coating (CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance) remains stable for 30 years. Over a 50-year lifespan, you'll spend a fraction on upkeep compared to the ongoing treatments asphalt and wood require in this climate.
Is a metal roof fire-rated, and does that matter in Garibaldi?
Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification, the highest rating. Because aluminum contains no wood, tar, or petroleum products, it cannot ignite or propagate flame. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms fire-safety compliance with both IBC and IRC codes. While Garibaldi's marine climate and 2066 mm annual rainfall create lower wildfire risk than inland Oregon, Class A certification still provides insurance advantages and peace of mind. It also ensures your roof won't contribute to fire spread during a structure fire. Building codes increasingly favor non-combustible materials, so this rating future-proofs your home against stricter regulations.
