| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |

What our customers are saying:
I wish there were a 4.75 rating, or something between 4 and 5, because although we are quite happy with our new roof...my policy is \*never\* to give a 5 out of 5 rating (because there is no such thing as perfection, and when everyone gives 5 stars, as seems to be the case nowadays, then 5 stars means nothing). We now have a beautiful (just ask our neighbors, several of whom have made it a point to tell us that they love it), but more important, high quality, life-guaranteed interlock roof. This is on the Oregon coast, and if you live on the coast or know anyone who does, you may know that "beach time" prevails, and local work crews will often start a job and disappear for "surf's up" or other beach distraction/things. Not in this case. What our friends (who had an interlock roof installed, several years ago) told us was was true: when the interlock installation crew was here, they \*worked,\* long and hard, and as long as the light (and weather conditions) would allow. The installation went smoothy, save for two glitches: (1) a gap due to the weather (not sure why the scheduler scheduled our project to start when the forecast clearly was for rain); (2) the person who measured our two skylights, which were being replaced as part of the installation, ordered the wrong size (which added another half day on to the installation, as the installer crew lead had to drive to Portland to get the correct size). But neither of those two glitches were the installation crew's fault, and we were impressed with the crew's work, their friendliness, and their cleanup afterward (and every day of the job - they did not leave trash lying about). I did my research before comparing and checking out varous kinds of roofs (e.g. comp; metal) and was highly motivated to get the interlock roof, and am glad that we did so. Bring on the hurricane, we are not afraid! Positive: Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation
My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Falcon Cove
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Falcon Cove, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Falcon Cove.
Does a metal roof handle Tillamook County's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and prevent ice dams. Falcon Cove receives about 37 cm of snow annually, and the smooth, lightweight design naturally sloughs accumulation without the water pooling that causes ice dams under asphalt shingles. The panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft, so they impose no structural load even when saturated—critical given your region's 10 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The interlocked seams prevent water infiltration as ice expands and contracts.
Why can't an aluminum metal roof rust in a coastal climate like Falcon Cove?
Aluminum is elementally different from steel: it contains zero iron, the metal that rusts when oxidized. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer—when scratched, it repairs itself automatically. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24/3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against fading. This dual-coating strategy protects against salt spray and the 1,839 mm of annual rainfall Falcon Cove receives, making aluminum superior to steel in marine conditions.
Can a metal roof withstand Falcon Cove's strong coastal gusts?
Absolutely. Falcon Cove experiences gusts reaching 147 km/h—Interlock's standing-seam and interlocking profiles are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specification. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together, distributing wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. Your region's mean winds of about 20 km/h won't stress the system; even extreme gust events are covered by the warranty, provided installation follows Interlock's code-compliant guidelines in ESR-1790.
Does Interlock's metal roofing reduce cooling costs in Oregon?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers Cool Roof Rating Council-certified finishes with thermal emissivity to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), which reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. While Falcon Cove's 2,897 sunshine hours annually don't demand cooling like hotter climates, the reflective coating reduces attic temperature swings, lowering HVAC cycling and extending equipment life. Over 50+ years of roof life, cumulative energy savings and reduced thermal stress add real value—especially in transitional seasons.
What does Interlock's warranty actually cover and for how long?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation over time. Unlike prorated warranties that reduce coverage year-by-year, this one pays 100% of panel replacement throughout your ownership. It's also one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from installation completion. Given Falcon Cove's demanding climate—1,839 mm rain, 37 cm snow, and 10 freeze-thaw cycles annually—this transferable term becomes a major selling point when you move, adding buyer confidence.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?
Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Metal roofing doesn't require roof raking after snowfall, gutter clearing from shingle granules, or wood treatment against rot and insects. Interlock aluminum won't split or curl as wood does during Falcon Cove's 10 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Asphalt needs resealing every few years; metal simply sheds water and debris. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance claims. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) resists fading from 2,897 annual sunshine hours, eliminating the periodic roof washing asphalt homeowners often perform.
Does Interlock's metal roofing qualify for insurance discounts after hail?
Yes—Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest hail classification available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions or claim waivers; contact your insurer with the product spec sheet. Though Tillamook County's heavy precipitation comes as rain (1,839 mm annually), occasional hail can occur. The Class 4 durability protects against both hail and wind-driven debris—advantages concrete or clay tile cannot match without extreme weight penalties.
Why does Interlock's lightweight profile matter for older homes?
Traditional slate and clay tile roofing weigh 800–1,200 lb/sq ft and often require structural reinforcement costing $10,000–$30,000. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real tile—installing directly over existing asphalt shingles without reinforcement. This advantage is crucial for Falcon Cove's older coastal homes, where foundation and framing may not support heavy loads. You retain the visual character of slate or tile while eliminating costly engineering and structural work, compressing installation to days rather than weeks and reducing labor significantly.
Is Interlock metal roofing truly fire-resistant?
Yes. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible—it cannot ignite. A Class A fire rating is available, the highest fire classification from building codes (IBC/IRC, ESR-1790, reissued 2025). This matters in Tillamook County, where coastal homes face wildfire risk from regional incidents. Metal roofing eliminates the vulnerability of asphalt shingles, which are flammable, and wood shakes, which char and ignite readily. Many insurers recognize Class A aluminum roofing, potentially lowering fire-insurance premiums. For oceanside properties, non-combustibility combined with rust-proof aluminum creates a protective envelope around your home.
Is aluminum roofing actually more sustainable than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life—it retains material value indefinitely and enters the aluminum recovery stream. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are tear-off waste ending up in landfills every 15–25 years. Over 50+ years, choosing metal eliminates 2–3 asphalt tearouts per home. Aluminum's durability reduces manufacturing burden: one metal roof replaces 2–3 asphalt roofs across its lifespan. Falcon Cove's 1,839 mm annual rainfall and coastal salt spray accelerate asphalt degradation, making the sustainability argument even stronger—metal is the single roof that outlasts the home itself.
