Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Mohler, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I wish there were a 4.75 rating, or something between 4 and 5, because although we are quite happy with our new roof...my policy is \*never\* to give a 5 out of 5 rating (because there is no such thing as perfection, and when everyone gives 5 stars, as seems to be the case nowadays, then 5 stars means nothing). We now have a beautiful (just ask our neighbors, several of whom have made it a point to tell us that they love it), but more important, high quality, life-guaranteed interlock roof. This is on the Oregon coast, and if you live on the coast or know anyone who does, you may know that "beach time" prevails, and local work crews will often start a job and disappear for "surf's up" or other beach distraction/things. Not in this case. What our friends (who had an interlock roof installed, several years ago) told us was was true: when the interlock installation crew was here, they \*worked,\* long and hard, and as long as the light (and weather conditions) would allow. The installation went smoothy, save for two glitches: (1) a gap due to the weather (not sure why the scheduler scheduled our project to start when the forecast clearly was for rain); (2) the person who measured our two skylights, which were being replaced as part of the installation, ordered the wrong size (which added another half day on to the installation, as the installer crew lead had to drive to Portland to get the correct size). But neither of those two glitches were the installation crew's fault, and we were impressed with the crew's work, their friendliness, and their cleanup afterward (and every day of the job - they did not leave trash lying about). I did my research before comparing and checking out varous kinds of roofs (e.g. comp; metal) and was highly motivated to get the interlock roof, and am glad that we did so. Bring on the hurricane, we are not afraid! Positive: Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation
My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mohler
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mohler, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mohler.
Will a metal roof handle heavy snow load in Mohler?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, which more than handles Tillamook County's typical gusts of 136 km/h. Snow slides cleanly off metal without the ice dams that trap moisture under asphalt shingles through the region's approximately 16 freeze-thaw days per year. Aluminum weighs only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, so structural reinforcement is unnecessary even in your area's 47 cm average annual snowfall.
How does a metal roof perform in Mohler's wet climate?
Metal roofs shed water faster than any other roofing material, making them ideal for Tillamook County's 2066 mm annual rainfall. Interlock panels lock together four-way, eliminating gaps where water penetrates; the system is evaluated under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC standards, reissued 2025) and has been field-proven from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Your roof sits on a solid deck with underlayment—not exposed fasteners—so water has no entry point, and you get asphalt-quiet performance in rain.
Why is aluminum better than steel for a coastal-influenced Oregon roof?
Aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it develops a self-healing oxide layer that regenerates when scratched. In Tillamook County's moist, windy climate—with coastal salt-air exposure possible—this is a decisive advantage. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both panel sides (30-year warranty against chalking and fading). Steel roofing rusts from the inside out; aluminum's chemistry simply prevents it, guaranteeing your roof won't degrade from corrosion across the 2884 annual sunshine hours and 17 km/h typical daily winds.
Does a metal roof hold up to hail, and can I save on insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant system and offer discounts on premiums. In Tillamook County, where hail risk is lower than inland valleys but freeze-thaw cycling stresses asphalt shingles across approximately 16 days per year, a Class 4 roof eliminates underinsurance concerns and can reduce your annual costs.
Will an Interlock metal roof lower cooling costs in Oregon?
energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84. In Tillamook County's 2884 annual sunshine hours, this reflectivity reduces attic heat gain in summer months and lowers cooling load. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates Interlock colors; asphalt absorbs that same solar energy as heat. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings compound, especially if you combine a reflective profile with proper attic ventilation.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt shingles?
Metal roofs require virtually no maintenance; asphalt requires periodic inspection, algae removal, flashing repairs, and shingle replacement every 15–20 years. Interlock panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance: no granule loss, no deterioration from Tillamook County's 2066 mm annual rain or 47 cm snow, no curling or cracking. A simple annual visual inspection suffices. Over 50 years, the time and cost difference is substantial—you buy an Interlock roof once and forget it.
Is a metal roof really the last roof I'll buy?
Metal roofs cost more upfront but deliver lifetime value: the Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years, generating tearoff and landfill costs repeatedly across a 50-year span. Interlock's aluminum is ~95% recyclable, ending the asphalt-to-landfill cycle. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. When you amortize material, labor, and waste across decades, metal is the last roof you buy.
Can an Interlock metal roof install over my existing asphalt shingles?
Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (the Tile profile is ~96% lighter than concrete or clay tile), installation over most existing roofs requires no structural reinforcement. The lightweight design means faster labor, lower installation cost, and zero disruption from tearoff debris. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and handles the deck prep, underlayment, and four-way panel interlocking in one coordinated process. Typical installation takes days, not weeks.
Is a metal roof non-combustible and fire-rated?
Yes. Aluminum is a non-combustible material and Interlock achieves Class A fire rating (the highest), recognized under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025). In Tillamook County, where wind gusts reach 136 km/h, a Class A roof resists ember intrusion during wildfire conditions better than asphalt or wood shingles. The rating applies across all five profile options: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. If your insurer or local code requires fire-rated roofing, Interlock is pre-qualified.
Does a metal roof add resale value in Mohler?
A durable, visually distinctive roof increases buyer confidence and curb appeal. Interlock's five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—replicate high-end materials without the weight, maintenance, or cost penalties. The transferable Guardian Warranty (50 years for the next owner) is a documented asset; buyers recognize that they inherit a roof that will outlast their mortgage. In Tillamook County's 2066 mm annual rainfall and 47 cm snow climate, proof of a leak-proof, impact-rated, ice-dam-resistant roof is a concrete selling point.
