What our customers are saying:
My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.
I wish there were a 4.75 rating, or something between 4 and 5, because although we are quite happy with our new roof...my policy is \*never\* to give a 5 out of 5 rating (because there is no such thing as perfection, and when everyone gives 5 stars, as seems to be the case nowadays, then 5 stars means nothing). We now have a beautiful (just ask our neighbors, several of whom have made it a point to tell us that they love it), but more important, high quality, life-guaranteed interlock roof. This is on the Oregon coast, and if you live on the coast or know anyone who does, you may know that "beach time" prevails, and local work crews will often start a job and disappear for "surf's up" or other beach distraction/things. Not in this case. What our friends (who had an interlock roof installed, several years ago) told us was was true: when the interlock installation crew was here, they \*worked,\* long and hard, and as long as the light (and weather conditions) would allow. The installation went smoothy, save for two glitches: (1) a gap due to the weather (not sure why the scheduler scheduled our project to start when the forecast clearly was for rain); (2) the person who measured our two skylights, which were being replaced as part of the installation, ordered the wrong size (which added another half day on to the installation, as the installer crew lead had to drive to Portland to get the correct size). But neither of those two glitches were the installation crew's fault, and we were impressed with the crew's work, their friendliness, and their cleanup afterward (and every day of the job - they did not leave trash lying about). I did my research before comparing and checking out varous kinds of roofs (e.g. comp; metal) and was highly motivated to get the interlock roof, and am glad that we did so. Bring on the hurricane, we are not afraid! Positive: Quality, Professionalism Services: Roof installation, Skylight installation

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kilchis
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kilchis, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kilchis.
Will a metal roof handle Kilchis's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are designed to shed snow and resist ice dam formation, critical in a region that averages about 47 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 16 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The smooth, sloped panel design promotes natural drainage during Tillamook County's frequent thaw-refreeze patterns. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want additional control over snow release. The lightweight construction (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) eliminates structural stress that heavy slate or clay tile would impose—especially valuable when snow loads combine with Kilchis's typical winter precipitation of 2066 mm per year.
Can a metal roof withstand Kilchis's coastal wind gusts?
Absolutely. Interlock roofs are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph—well above Kilchis's typical gusts of 136 km/h (about 85 mph). The four-way interlocking panel system distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This design, verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790, ensures that seasonal storm gusts common in Tillamook County do not compromise panel integrity or fastening. The lightweight profile (under 0.6 lb/sq ft) also reduces the leverage that wind exerts on your structure, making it ideal for exposed coastal and valley locations where wind speeds regularly exceed those that asphalt shingles can safely handle.
Why doesn't aluminum rust, and does that matter in Kilchis?
Aluminum is iron-free, so it cannot rust—period. Instead, it develops a protective oxide layer that forms instantly when exposed to air and self-heals if scratched. In Kilchis's wet climate (2066 mm annual rainfall, frequent freeze-thaw cycles), this immunity to rust is transformative. Steel roofing requires expensive coatings and eventually fails in high-moisture environments; aluminum thrives. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), adds another protective layer. For a region where salt-air corrosion and constant dampness challenge most materials, aluminum's inherent resistance means your roof outlasts the building itself.
Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock aluminum panels weigh just 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile—the Mediterranean Tile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extreme lightness means the roof can install directly over most existing structures and many existing shingle layers, eliminating expensive tear-off and disposal costs. Kilchis homeowners benefit twice: they avoid the structural engineering and framing upgrades that slate or tile demand, and they skip the labor-intensive removal of old asphalt shingles. One installer can handle an Interlock roof where a slate installation would require reinforced trusses and structural review. This also reduces the dead load your home carries year-round through Tillamook County's precipitation seasons.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no annual fees or degradation. If you sell your home, the next owner receives 50 additional years of transferable coverage from completion date. This warranty structure reflects Interlock's confidence in the product: aluminum panels manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 have been installed in salt-air coastal environments, Antarctic research stations, and everything in between. For Kilchis buyers, the non-prorated protection means full coverage whether a defect appears year one or year twenty. The 50-year transfer term adds measurable resale value and buyer confidence in a region where home tenure can span decades.
How does a metal roof perform in hail, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers hail perforation from stones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the roof survives repeated impacts from hard spheres dropped from 20 feet, a standard that asphalt and wood roofing cannot meet. Many insurers offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated roofing because claims frequency drops dramatically. Kilchis experiences hail risk typical of northwest Oregon, and your insurance agent can confirm whether your policy qualifies for a discount with impact-rated metal. The aluminum construction, with its dent-resistance and non-brittle properties, outperforms slate or tile—which crack or shatter under heavy hail. Document your UL 2218 Class 4 certification when you close on the roof; it strengthens your insurance and resale position.
Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs?
energy-efficiency-certified Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, reducing cooling demand year-round. Select colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 (energy-efficiency / CRRC rated), meaning they bounce heat away instead of storing it. In Kilchis's 2884 annual sunshine hours and cool 10.9°C mean temperature, the benefit compounds: during spring and fall shoulder seasons, reflective roofing keeps indoor temperatures stable without constant HVAC cycling. Winter heating losses are minimal because the same emissivity that rejects summer heat also radiates indoor warmth slowly. The net effect across a full year in Tillamook County is measurable utility savings—especially compared to darker asphalt, which absorbs and radiates heat inefficiently. published solar-reflectance listing proves verified performance, not marketing claims.
Is metal roofing a good financial investment compared to asphalt?
Yes, when measured over the roof's full lifespan. Asphalt shingles typically need replacement every 15–20 years in Kilchis's wet, freeze-thaw climate (16 annual freeze-thaw days, 2066 mm rain); you'll buy the roof multiple times. Interlock aluminum lasts indefinitely with no material degradation, and the non-prorated Guardian Warranty eliminates doubt about coverage. Current regional financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—eliminating the upfront cost barrier. Over 40–50 years, asphalt's cumulative cost (material, labor, debris removal, structural impact from heavy replacements) exceeds metal by thousands of dollars. Add the 50-year transferable warranty, which increases resale value and buyer confidence, and the financial case strengthens further. You're not comparing initial cost; you're replacing the roof once rather than three or four times.
Who installs Interlock roofing in Kilchis, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997—nearly 30 years of local installation expertise. They understand Tillamook County's climate (47 cm annual snow, 136 km/h wind gusts, 2066 mm rainfall, 16 freeze-thaw cycles) and know how to detail every aspect of coastal and valley installations to survive these conditions. The crew is factory-trained on Interlock's four-way interlocking system, ESR-1790 code compliance, and the specific flashing, fastening, and underlayment protocols that guarantee performance. Local service also means faster response if you ever need warranty support, though aluminum's corrosion resistance and durable design minimize service calls. With current financing options available now, you can get a timeline and quote directly from the installer who understands your neighborhood's roofing demands.
How long does installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes 1–3 days for a standard residential roof, depending on size and complexity. One major advantage: Interlock can install directly over most existing asphalt shingles without tear-off, saving weeks of labor and thousands in disposal costs. The lightweight design (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) eliminates the structural work required for slate or tile. Proper preparation includes deck inspection, underlayment installation per ESR-1790 guidelines, and flashing details tailored to Kilchis's high rainfall (2066 mm annually) and wind exposure (gusts to 136 km/h). Your installer will confirm whether your existing deck can support the new roof; if tear-off is needed, they'll manage it. The process is cleaner and faster than traditional roofing because four-way interlocking panels don't require individual shingle nailing and fastening verification—a significant labor advantage.
