Review: November 16, 2018Completion: October 29, 2018

They could have improved on the installation. Glenn was great in that he checked to make sure we were satisfied. When I told him about the concerns we had, he went above and beyond to fix the problems. We were promised that if the installers found structural problems or damages they would stop all work and call us. They didn't do that. However, they did call and tell me they needed to replace the fascia board and I agreed. They didn't tell me they were only going to primer them and they would need to be painted and they didn't tell me that when they took down the gutters they wouldn't put them back up. Glenn called them and had them paint the fascia board and put the gutters back up. They only painted the facia board that the gutters were put on. We were instructed that we can't walk on the roof but Glenn said we could but we would have to be careful. However, we have siding and facia board that need to be painted and we need to walk on the roof but it is too slick to do so. We were told it would take less than a week to complete the job however they did start when they were supposed to. They didn't have all the materials they needed and it took 3 weeks to get the job finished. I think it looks pretty. There is a part of the roof that it's supposed to be the way that it is because there is no support there.

My wife saw an add for Interlock Roofing on Facebook, and we could not be any happier. We had a cedar shake roof and wanted to maintain that look. Interlock had just the product that is absolutely perfect. A product that we will never have to replace again. My neighbor was admiring the roof again the other day and told me that I really didn’t have any idea about the number of people that have complimented my roof to him! I have to say something about the installation crew, just amazing great guys. Talk about no messing around, they put in 12 hours a day easy just a great company to deal with. I whole heartily would recommend Interlock Roofing and it’s my belief that you would be remiss not to look at their products.

Crew ran short of materials and had to come back to finish the following week. Wasn't a terrible inconvenience though. I was not on the property for any of the installation but the crew did a great job in a very reasonable time.

Review: October 15, 2017Completion: August 25, 2017

Timing of jobs. Ours was delayed but it did get completed and repaired before siding company, also delayed, began. We live at the beach and the installer was unaware if the wind direction so the ridge cap and vents had to be reversed. Installer missed an end piece of wood rotted and needed to be replaced. All repaired now. The roof looks great though we are away for 7 months so cannot comment on the performance until we return in May.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Barview

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Barview, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Barview.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Barview winters?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered for the 47 cm of annual snow Barview receives. The light weight (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is required, yet the panels resist snow load and ice dam formation better than asphalt. With proper snow guard installation, your roof sheds accumulated snow safely without the ice-buildup problems common in Tillamook County's 16 annual freeze-thaw cycles, where repeated melting and refreezing degrades conventional roofing.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in a rainy, coastal climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the fundamental difference from steel. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, which is critical in Barview's 2066 mm annual rainfall and salt-air exposure. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Steel roofs require constant maintenance to prevent rust; aluminum roofs do not.

Will a metal roof hold up to Barview's coastal wind gusts?

Interlock roofs are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance when installed to spec, well above Barview's typical gust speeds of 136 km/h (85 mph). The four-way interlocking panel design distributes wind load across the entire roof assembly, preventing the edge uplift that compromises asphalt shingles and loose-laid metal. In Tillamook County's exposed coastal environment, this interlocking system provides the structural security conventional roofing cannot match.

Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates traditional heavy tile, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs without costly structural work. Barview's homes, built to handle local snow loads of 47 cm annually, easily support aluminum metal roofing. You avoid the expense and disruption of tear-off and frame reinforcement.

How does metal roofing handle Barview's 2000+ mm of annual rainfall without leaking?

Metal roofing's interlocking seams shed water more effectively than shingled roofing because water cannot penetrate panel joints—it flows downslope by design. Interlock's four-way interlocking geometry and ICC-ES ESR-1790 code approval guarantee leak-proof performance in heavy rain. Installed over a solid deck with underlayment (standard practice), water that runs off the panels drains through the system safely, with no pooling or saturation like asphalt shingles experience in Barview's persistent coastal rainfall.

What hail protection does metal roofing offer, and could it lower my insurance?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Barview's hail risk is low compared to inland regions, this Class 4 rating demonstrates durability that some insurers recognize with premium discounts. Contact your agent; non-combustible, impact-rated roofing sometimes qualifies for reductions. The warranty protection alone eliminates the hail-damage claim cycle asphalt users face.

Do metal roofs really save on cooling costs, or is that marketing?

Cool Roof Rating Council-listed colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reduce heat absorption compared to dark asphalt, lowering cooling costs in Barview's 2884 annual sunshine hours. energy-efficiency certification confirms that reflective finishes keep attics cooler, reducing air-conditioning demand during summer. The fluorocarbon coating maintains this reflectance for 30 years, unlike asphalt which darkens over time and absorbs more heat.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how long will the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance loss. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Manufactured since 1998 with installations from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, Interlock roofs routinely outlast the homes they protect. For Barview homeowners, this is genuinely your last roof.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance beyond occasional debris clearing and gutter inspection—far less than asphalt, which requires regular inspections for granule loss, or wood shakes, which split and curl in freeze-thaw cycles like Barview's 16 annual freeze-thaw days. Interlock's aluminum with Alunar PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against fading) doesn't degrade, crack, or curl. You don't re-seal, replace shingles, or worry about moss or rot in our 2066 mm annual rainfall. The cost difference compounds over decades.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can it be installed over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Interlock installs over existing asphalt roofing without tear-off, saving weeks of labor and keeping debris off your property. This retrofit process is approved under ICC-ES ESR-1790 and reduces installation cost and timeline. Barview's wet climate makes avoiding a long tear-off period valuable—your home stays weather-tight throughout. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and handles all logistics.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Barview’s climate?

Yes. Barview averages about 47 cm of snow, 2066 mm of rain, roughly 16 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 136 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
