Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Beecher Falls, Vermont
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments
This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!
Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.
We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.
Very pleased with the quality and appearance of the roofing. None No
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation
Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation
I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.
Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Beecher Falls
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Beecher Falls, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Beecher Falls.
How does a metal roof handle Beecher Falls' heavy snow load and ice dams?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents moisture from bonding—critical when you're getting about 216 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay structurally sound under that weight because aluminum weighs roughly 96% less than traditional slate or tile, eliminating ice dam formation at eaves. The slick surface also allows meltwater to run off rather than pool and refreeze, a real advantage during Beecher Falls' approximately 86 freeze-thaw cycles per year.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Vermont damage an aluminum metal roof?
No. Aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens with freeze-thaw cycling—it self-heals when scratched and contains no iron, so it cannot rust or degrade from moisture penetration. Traditional materials like asphalt shingles crack and curl as water freezes and thaws inside them, but aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without absorbing water. With 86 freeze-thaw days per year in your area and roughly 877 mm of rain, the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against fading) keeps the surface sealed while the base material remains inert.
Why should I choose aluminum roofing instead of steel in Vermont?
Steel rusts because it contains iron that oxidizes when exposed to moisture; aluminum does not contain iron and therefore cannot rust, making it superior in Vermont's wet climate with about 877 mm of annual rainfall. Steel requires painting or galvanizing to slow corrosion, while aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish is applied to both sides of every panel—an extra layer of defense that carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, protecting your investment through decades of northeastern weather.
Can a metal roof withstand Vermont's wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), and Beecher Falls' typical gusts reach about 120 km/h. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind cannot lift individual sections, distributing force across the entire roof. Essex County homeowners benefit from this engineering during spring and fall storms; the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms the system meets current IBC and IRC building codes, so your installation qualifies for a 120 mph wind warranty when installed to specification.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance risk?
Aluminum panels earn a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Beecher Falls isn't in a severe hail belt, the durability rating may qualify you for homeowner insurance discounts; contact your agent to discuss the Class 4 UL listing and non-combustible material status. The lightweight design and impact resistance mean no denting or dimpling that would compromise appearance or performance, so a hailstorm doesn't trigger costly repairs like it would with asphalt shingles.
Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile—despite looking like heavy clay or concrete tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. This means Interlock installs directly over most existing asphalt roofs without upgrades to your home's frame. In Beecher Falls, where you receive about 216 cm of snow annually, that light weight is a major advantage: the same roof framing that supports asphalt easily handles the metal system, even under heavy winter loads.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofs require minimal maintenance—no annual granule loss like asphalt, no splitting or rot like wood shakes, and no algae or moss growth because aluminum doesn't absorb moisture. Beecher Falls' roughly 2,705 sunshine hours per year means your roof stays relatively dry, extending the time between inspections. Inspect gutters and trim once yearly, and that's it. Asphalt shingles fail after 15–20 years and require tear-off and disposal; wood shakes demand periodic replacement of damaged pieces; but aluminum's CALGreen-verified design reduces your maintenance burden to essentially watching for debris after storms.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a typical asphalt roof's life?
Metal roofing costs more initially but becomes the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt fails every 15–20 years, meaning three to four replacements over a 50–70 year period—each requiring labor, tearoff disposal, and new materials. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) protects against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. Even accounting for Beecher Falls' 216 cm annual snowfall and 877 mm rain, aluminum outlasts five or more asphalt cycles, eliminating landfill waste and contractor visits. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that generates tons of waste every few decades. When your metal roof eventually needs replacement—decades from now—the panels return to the recycling stream and become new products. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, sit in landfills for years and cannot be recovered. Beecher Falls homeowners who choose metal roofing eliminate multiple roof tear-offs and landfill contributions over a lifetime, supporting Vermont's environmental goals while reducing your personal waste footprint by thousands of pounds.
Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, cedar shake, or tile in Vermont?
Yes—five profile options replicate high-end architectural materials. Interlock Slate mimics natural slate texture, Cedar Shingle and Shake match traditional northeastern aesthetics, Standing Seam offers modern clean lines, and Mediterranean Tile captures European elegance—all in lightweight aluminum. Each profile is available in multiple colors and finishes. Your choice doesn't compromise durability: whether you prefer the rustic character of shake or the refined look of slate, you get the same Class A fire rating (non-combustible), 120 mph wind warranty, and UL 2218 Class 4 hail protection. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 and can show you samples on homes throughout Essex County.
