Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bloomfield

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bloomfield, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bloomfield.

How does a metal roof handle the heavy snow Bloomfield gets each winter?

Interlock metal panels shed snow effectively because their smooth, interlocking surface prevents ice dams—a major concern with Bloomfield's 216 cm annual snowfall and 86 freeze-thaw days per year. The aluminum's low thermal mass means less heat loss through the roof, reducing the freeze-thaw cycle that causes ice buildup. Optional snow guards can be installed to control avalanching on steeper pitches. The material's light weight (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means your home supports the snow load without structural modifications, unlike slate or concrete tile.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage my aluminum metal roof over time?

No—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens with freeze-thaw cycling rather than degrading like asphalt or wood. Bloomfield experiences about 86 freeze-thaw days annually, but aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against these failures) protects the substrate while the material's self-healing oxide layer resists corrosion from salt spray and moisture. This is why Interlock panels installed in coastal salt-air zones and Antarctic research stations remain intact—the mechanism that damages asphalt and wood simply doesn't apply to aluminum.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Vermont's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and deteriorates in steel. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects it even when scratched. With Bloomfield receiving about 877 mm of rain annually, this passive protection matters. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of each panel) adds 30 years of warranted protection against chalking and fading. Unlike steel roofing or wood shakes, which require active maintenance to resist corrosion, aluminum's chemistry works continuously in your favor, especially in humid climates with frequent wet-dry cycles.

Will a metal roof blow off in Bloomfield's winter storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (warranted performance)—well above Bloomfield's typical gusts of about 120 km/h (75 mph). The mechanical interlock between adjacent panels distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. When installed to spec over a solid deck, the panels create a unified surface that sheds wind pressure. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind requirements. This design is why Interlock roofs have performed in salt-air zones and mountainous regions—the interlocking principle, not nail strength, is the primary wind defense.

Does a metal roof provide better hail protection than asphalt shingles?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior impact rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because aluminum's hardness and the panel's structural support layer absorb impact energy rather than tearing. Asphalt shingles typically achieve Class 1 or 2 ratings. While Bloomfield's climate doesn't feature frequent severe hail, the built-in protection is permanent and transferable to the next owner (50 years from completion under the Guardian), providing peace of mind and potential premium reductions over decades of ownership.

Is a metal roof worth the higher price compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt, but the lifetime limited, non-prorated Guardian warranty (transferable 50 years for the next owner) means you install one roof, not three. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–25 years; Interlock is designed to outlast your mortgage. With Bloomfield's 877 mm annual rainfall and 216 cm snow, asphalt shingles face constant freeze-thaw and UV degradation. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off—reduces initial cash strain. When you factor in zero-replacement longevity, no periodic repairs, and the transferable warranty's resale value, the lifetime cost per year is lower than the asphalt cycle. This is your last roof.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover and for how long?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no annual deductibles and no degrading coverage over time. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. This structure recognizes aluminum's inherent durability: it doesn't develop the rust, decay, or stress fractures that trigger claims on traditional materials. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating itself carries a separate 30-year color-retention warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). For Bloomfield's climate—with 86 annual freeze-thaw cycles—this non-prorated structure protects against the very failures freeze-thaw causes in other materials.

Can my home's framing support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing is so light that no structural reinforcement is needed. The Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, and the Shingle profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most homes can support this weight over existing roofs without modification. Compare this to slate or traditional tile (8–15 lb/sq ft), which often require expensive beam or truss upgrades. Bloomfield receives about 216 cm of snow annually—the real load challenge—but aluminum's light weight means your home handles snow without the dead weight of heavy materials during warm seasons. This efficiency is why Interlock panels install over existing asphalt shingles in many cases, saving labor and landfill impact.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no resealing, re-nailing, or seasonal repairs like asphalt or wood shake demand. The aluminum substrate cannot rot or split, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading over 30 years without active care. Occasional debris removal and gutter cleaning (as with any roof) is all that's needed. Wood shakes in Bloomfield's damp climate require fungicide treatment; asphalt shingles crack and curl under freeze-thaw cycles, necessitating repairs every few years; traditional tile develops moss with 877 mm annual rainfall. Aluminum's self-healing oxide layer and stable material properties mean you avoid the ongoing maintenance costs that traditional materials impose—freeing your time and budget for other priorities.

Is an aluminum metal roof fire-safe for my Bloomfield home?

Interlock metal roofing is available with a Class A fire rating because aluminum is non-combustible—it cannot ignite or spread flames. The material itself, plus the panel construction, meets the strictest fire-safety standards without additives or treatments. Class A rating (the highest available) qualifies you for potential insurance discounts and provides peace of mind in regions prone to wildfire or structure fires. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC fire classifications. Unlike asphalt shingles, which are combustible and can propagate flames, or wood shake, which is inherently flammable, aluminum's non-combustible nature provides permanent, passive protection. This is especially valuable in regions with mixed fuel sources and the freeze-thaw stresses that crack asphalt and expose vulnerable layers.
