Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Mount Pleasant, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mount Pleasant
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mount Pleasant, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mount Pleasant.
Will a metal roof handle Mount Pleasant's snow and ice without leaking or causing ice dams?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and ice reliably, even in your region's average 48 cm of annual snowfall and 36 freeze-thaw cycles. The smooth, interlocking design prevents water from pooling behind ice dams, and the panels' light weight (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural stress from accumulated snow. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., can add snow guards if you prefer extra retention for visual effect or to protect landscaping below.
Why can't aluminum roofs rust like steel, and does that matter in Washington's wet climate?
Aluminum contains no iron, so rusting is physically impossible—that's the core difference from steel. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion. In Mount Pleasant's ~1468 mm annual rainfall and coastal moisture patterns, this is decisive: your roof won't develop the streaks, decay, or structural damage steel roofs suffer over 20–30 years. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is the same material used in Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes, so wet climates are exactly where aluminum proves its worth.
Can my metal roof withstand the wind gusts Mount Pleasant gets?
Absolutely. Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, and your region's typical gusts reach about 116 km/h. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual fasteners. This same engineering protects homes from the Pacific Northwest's variable wind patterns throughout the year, giving you confidence in severe weather.
Is metal roofing good for hail damage, and could it lower my insurance costs?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and may offer premium reductions; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report (both verified). In Mount Pleasant, where late-season weather can turn severe quickly, this protection pays dividends both in claims avoidance and potential policy savings. Your local installer can provide documentation to support an insurance inquiry.
Will an Interlock metal roof keep my home cooler and lower energy bills?
Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting the heat that dark asphalt absorbs. In Mount Pleasant's ~2957 annual sunshine hours, that reflectivity reduces cooling demand even during the region's milder summers. The aluminum itself conducts and dissipates heat efficiently, so in warmer months you'll feel the difference in air-conditioning load. Cool Roof Rating Council verification backs this performance, making metal roofing an honest choice for modest year-round energy gains in the Pacific Northwest.
What's the actual warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and does it transfer to a new owner?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for you, the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from completion date. No other roofing material matches this depth of coverage. In practical terms, you're buying your last roof: aluminum doesn't degrade like asphalt, won't split like wood, and won't spall like tile. Many homeowners install Interlock in their 40s and never replace it; resale buyers inherit half a century of confidence.
How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood shingles?
Far less. Unlike asphalt shingles, Interlock panels don't curl, crack, or lose granules—no annual inspections for damage needed. Unlike wood shakes, they won't split or rot, even in Mount Pleasant's 1468 mm annual rainfall. You'll simply clear gutters and debris once or twice a year, just as you would with any roof. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 / D2244, so repainting isn't in your future. CALGreen verification confirms the maintenance savings—a real financial win over decades of roof ownership.
Can a new metal roof install over my old roof, and how long does it take?
Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Slate profile), they install safely over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement—your home's framing won't bear the strain that slate, concrete tile, or multiple asphalt layers impose. The lightweight design cuts labor time and simplifies the process. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., will assess your deck and advise whether an overlay makes sense for your home. Installation timeline depends on roof size and pitch, but the absence of tear-off work accelerates the schedule and reduces disruption. Ask your installer for a specific timeline during your consultation.
Does metal roofing have fire rating, and is that relevant in Washington?
Interlock aluminum panels are non-combustible and available in Class A fire rating configurations—the highest classification possible. In Washington's drier months and wildfire seasons, this matters: aluminum won't ignite, won't carry flames, and won't release toxic smoke. ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC code compliance) documents this performance. Your homeowner's or builder's insurance may recognize the fire safety; some carriers offer modest premium reductions for non-combustible roofs. It's a protection layer that costs nothing extra—the material itself is simply fireproof.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over a 30- or 50-year lifespan?
The math favors metal strongly over decades. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and require tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation 2–3 times before you retire; that cycle costs $15,000–$35,000 in today's dollars across a 50-year horizon. Interlock's lifetime warranty means one installation, zero replacement cycles. Add the savings: no maintenance costs, no energy surcharge from aging shingles, no insurance hikes from wear, and the 50-year transfer warranty boosting resale value. In Mount Pleasant's wet climate (1468 mm rain, 36 freeze-thaw days), asphalt fails faster. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—makes the first-cost barrier minimal. Your installer can run lifetime-cost comparisons.
