Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Taneum, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Taneum
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Taneum, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Taneum.
How does a metal roof handle Taneum's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface resists adhesion. Taneum averages about 199 cm of snow and 105 freeze-thaw days per year, which accelerates asphalt degradation; ice dams form as heat escapes through shingles. Interlock's aluminum panels remain rigid through cycles that crack and curl traditional materials. The lightweight design—just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no snow load concerns, and you can install optional snow guards to control release in sensitive areas.
Why doesn't an aluminum metal roof rust in a wet climate like Taneum's?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a natural protection that strengthens over time. Taneum receives about 470 mm of rain annually, but moisture simply cannot trigger the chemical reaction that corrodes steel. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is especially critical in wet climates where exposure is constant.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Taneum damage an aluminum roof over time?
No. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally compared to asphalt or wood—roughly one-third the expansion rate—so repeated freezing and thawing at 105 days per year causes no cracking or warping. The metal's crystalline structure remains stable across temperature swings. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, become brittle in cold and lose flexibility in freeze-thaw stress. Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms durability under variable climates, and the Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers cracking and splitting, giving you protection beyond the 199 cm annual snowfall and weather extremes Taneum experiences.
Can an aluminum roof reduce my homeowner's insurance costs in Taneum?
Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs, the highest hail rating available. Interlock panels carry that rating and are warranted to resist perforation even from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Taneum's typical wind gusts reach 85 km/h, with occasional severe storms; a Class 4 roof signals durability underwriters value. Contact your agent with the UL listing and warranty details—carriers often reduce premiums 10–25% for metal roofing, offsetting installation cost within a few years. The Guardian warranty also covers impact loss.
Do I need to reinforce my home's frame before installing a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock's Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so most existing framing handles it without upgrades. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the heft of traditional tile, weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft. This light weight is why Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive tear-off and disposal. In Taneum's heavy snow environment of 199 cm annual average, lighter roofing is an advantage: less mass on structure means clearer load paths for seasonal accumulation.
Is a metal roof worth the cost over the life of my home in Taneum?
Yes, when you calculate total cost of ownership. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in Taneum's 105 annual freeze-thaw days and 470 mm rain; you'll replace them multiple times. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited for the original owner—non-prorated—and transferable for 50 years to the next owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, and impact loss. One metal roof outlasts three or four asphalt installations, plus maintenance costs vanish. Currently, Interlock offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the per-year cost lower than asphalt over 40–50 years.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof actually need?
Minimal. Interlock roofs require no annual sealing, recoating, or shingle replacement like asphalt demands. Rain and snowmelt—Taneum averages 470 mm and 199 cm respectively—naturally clean the panels. Gutters need routine clearing, as with any roof. Asphalt shingles in freeze-thaw climates with 105 annual cycles require frequent repairs; wood shakes split and rot; tile cracks. Interlock's aluminum and PVDF coating are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. The lifetime limited warranty covers cracking and loss of impact resistance, so you're protected against weather damage without ongoing costs.
Can a new metal roof be installed over my existing shingles in Taneum?
Yes. Interlock's lightweight design—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—allows direct installation over most existing roofs without tear-off, saving time and disposal costs. Your installer assesses the deck condition; if solid, installation proceeds quickly over your current shingles. If your roof is severely damaged or rotten, removal is necessary first. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997 and can evaluate your home and advise whether overlay or replacement is best. The process is faster than asphalt installation because metal panels interlock—no individual fastening of thousands of shingles.
Will a metal roof help cool my home or reduce energy bills in Taneum?
Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors deliver thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 in finishes like Aged Copper Penny, reflecting heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Taneum receives about 3440 sunshine hours per year, so reflective coatings reduce cooling load. Metal roofing is also rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. The effect is most pronounced on south and west faces. Combined with proper ventilation, you'll see modest cooling savings in summer; in winter, the reflective benefit diminishes, but no additional heating penalty occurs. The coatings are warranted 30 years against fading.
