Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wenatchee Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wenatchee Heights, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wenatchee Heights.

How does a metal roof handle Wenatchee Heights' heavy snow load and ice dams?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking aluminum surface resists buildup and sliding ice better than granular shingles. With about 150 cm of annual snow and 88 freeze-thaw cycles per year in this area, that durability matters: the aluminum oxide layer doesn't degrade from repeated freezing and thawing, while asphalt cracks and curls under the same stress. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding. The material's light weight—the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft—won't strain your framing even when wet snow accumulates.

Will my metal roof crack or warp from freeze-thaw cycles?

No. Wenatchee Heights experiences roughly 88 freeze-thaw days annually, but aluminum's crystalline structure and 3105-H24 alloy composition make it inherently resistant to the expansion and contraction that destroys asphalt and wood. Aluminum doesn't absorb water, so ice formation inside the material can't fracture it the way it does slate or clay. The Alunar coating (applied to both sides) adds another layer of protection against moisture penetration, backed by a 30-year warranty against cracking. Your roof will still be performing after competitors' shingles have failed.

Can a metal roof rust in Wenatchee Heights' wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes. Instead, it forms an aluminum oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, giving it natural corrosion resistance even in wet Pacific Northwest conditions. Interlock panels are roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209), the same material used on coastal homes and Antarctic research stations. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both sides adds 30 years of extra protection against any atmospheric degradation. Unlike steel roofing, you'll never face rust stains, perforation, or the need to replace rotted fasteners.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and will my insurance care?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That extreme durability often qualifies you for insurance discounts; talk to your agent about the ESR-1790 compliance documentation and impact testing data. In a region with occasional severe weather, Class 4 protection and the ability to file a claim with full manufacturer backing gives you real peace of mind. Many insurers recognize the lower claim risk and adjust premiums accordingly.

Does a metal roof help with cooling costs around here?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers reflective finishes with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce summer heat away instead of absorbing it like dark asphalt. Wenatchee Heights gets about 3475 sunshine hours yearly, so on warm days that reflection advantage compounds over the season. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating backs up the cooling benefit. Combined with the material's durability in the region's 150 cm annual snow, you get year-round weather resistance without choosing between energy efficiency and structural integrity.

Do I need to reinforce my house framing for a metal roof?

No reinforcement needed. The Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates the heaviest traditional material—comes in at 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than real clay or concrete tile. Most existing roof framing can support that load without modification, and the light weight means Interlock installs directly over your current roof in many cases, saving tear-off labor and landfill waste. ICC-ES ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for standard residential framing across the region.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Very little. Unlike asphalt shingles that shed granules, crack, and curl—especially through Wenatchee Heights' 88 annual freeze-thaw cycles—Interlock aluminum doesn't degrade, split, or rot. No algae growth, no wood mold, no seasonal sealing. The smooth interlocking panels shed debris and standing water naturally, and annual gutters inspection is standard practice on any roof. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance liability compared to traditional materials. You're buying a roof you can largely ignore, aside from normal gutter upkeep.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my old roof?

Installation typically takes three to five days, depending on roof complexity. Because Interlock panels are so light—less than 0.6 lb/sq ft even for the thickest profile—most homes can be re-roofed directly over existing shingles without tearing off, saving time and labor cost. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served this region since 1997 and knows Wenatchee Heights framing and weather conditions well. Your roof is ready for weather within days, not weeks. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's life, yes—it's the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Wenatchee Heights' wet, freeze-thaw climate; you'll replace it two or three times in 50 years. Interlock carries the Guardian Warranty—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, then 50 years transferable to the next owner. That single replacement cycle versus multiple tear-offs, labor, and landfill fees makes metal the better long-term investment. The current 10% discount or no-payment, no-interest financing to Spring 2027 cuts the entry cost significantly.

Is metal roofing fire-safe, and does it matter for my homeowner's insurance?

Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification—the highest rating. Aluminum won't ignite or spread flame, a advantage over wood shakes and asphalt shingles, which burn. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IBC and IRC fire codes. Many insurers recognize the reduced fire risk and offer premium credits or improved coverage terms. In wildfire-prone regions of the Pacific Northwest, non-combustible roofing is increasingly valued by both insurers and buyers, strengthening resale appeal.
