Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Langrell, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Langrell
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Langrell, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Langrell.
How does a metal roof handle Langrell's heavy snow load?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because aluminum's smooth surface prevents buildup that leads to ice dams on asphalt shingles. Langrell gets about 398 cm of snow annually, and the four-way interlocking panels stay rigid under that weight without sagging or splitting. You can add snow guards to control slide-off if you prefer. The lightweight aluminum—just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no structural reinforcement needed even with heavy accumulation, unlike slate or tile that require roof frame upgrades.
Will freeze-thaw cycles damage metal roofing in Lewis County?
No—aluminum actually improves under freeze-thaw stress because it has no moisture absorption and no internal structure to expand and contract like asphalt, wood, or concrete. With about 96 freeze-thaw days per year in Langrell, this matters. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) flexes without cracking, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both sides resists the salt-laden moisture that accompanies freeze-thaw cycling in this region. Asphalt shingles split and curl under these same conditions; metal just gets stronger.
Can Langrell's wind gusts tear off a metal roof?
No. The four-way interlocking panels lock together in all directions and are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Langrell's typical wind gusts reach 102 km/h, well below that threshold. Each panel fastens to the deck and overlaps its neighbors, so there's no weak edge for wind to catch and lift. Asphalt shingles fail at much lower speeds because they rely on individual fasteners; one missing nail starts a cascade. Metal's continuous interlock means your roof stays intact through any weather this region throws at it.
Does metal roofing get damaged by hail, and does it lower insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer premium discounts for Class 4 impact-rated roofs because claims are rare. Asphalt shingles dent and lose granules in hail; metal resists impact without losing its weather seal. While Langrell's weather data doesn't flag extreme hail risk, the durability is there. Contact your insurer with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL rating to see what discount applies to your home—it often pays toward the roof's cost over time.
Can I install a metal roof that looks like slate or tile without reinforcing my frame?
Yes, because the Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. No structural upgrades needed. A real slate or tile roof requires expensive beam reinforcement, sometimes $15,000 to $30,000; metal replicates the look without that cost or labor. Even better, metal installs directly over most existing asphalt roofs, avoiding a tear-off. In Langrell's climate with 398 cm of annual snow, this light weight is a real advantage—your home's frame carries the snow load without strain, and installation is faster and cleaner.
How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal requires almost none. Asphalt shingles need regular inspections for granule loss, curling, and leaks—every few years in Langrell's wet climate (535 mm rain annually). Wood shakes split and rot within a decade here and demand constant patching. Metal won't curl, crack, split, or rot. Wash it annually if you like—a light rinse removes any dust—but it's optional in a region with frequent rain. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and the lifetime limited warranty covers any material failure. Most owners simply forget about their roof after install.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost over asphalt?
Metal costs more at installation but becomes cheaper the moment your first asphalt roof fails—usually 15 to 20 years. You'll replace asphalt twice or three times in a Langrell lifetime; metal once. The Guardian warranty is non-prorated for the original owner (lifetime) and transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, so resale buyers see proven durability, not an aging roof heading for failure. Factor in zero maintenance costs, no insurance claims from hail or wind, and the fact that you'll never buy another roof again. Over 50 years, metal costs half what asphalt does. Right now, we offer no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—either one cuts the financial gap.
Is metal roofing really better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes. Asphalt shingles end in a landfill after 15–20 years; you tear off roughly 5 tons per home and it never decomposes. Metal is about 95% recyclable at end of life—or much longer, since Interlock roofs last a lifetime. The manufacturing process in Delta, BC uses established aluminum production (no exotic processes), and the light weight cuts transportation emissions versus shipping slate or tile. Asphalt release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as they age in Langrell's 3289 annual sunshine hours; aluminum reflects that heat away (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on cooler colors, thermal emissivity 0.84—energy-efficient) and reduces landfill burden entirely.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Langrell and the surrounding area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Lewis County and the greater Pacific Northwest since 1997—longer than the roofing company most homeowners in Langrell will ever work with. We know local building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance), regional weather patterns (the freeze-thaw cycles and snow load here), and the specific details of Langrell homes. We install all five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—and handle everything from permit coordination to final inspection. Our current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Call us to schedule a site visit and estimate.
Do metal roofs actually save money on heating and cooling?
In cooling season, absolutely—metal roofs with energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. Thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (on Aged Copper Penny and similar cool colors) measurably reduce air-conditioning load. Langrell gets about 3289 annual sunshine hours, so even your relatively cool climate benefits. In winter, the difference is smaller, but the tight seal and continuous surface prevent the air leakage that asphalt shingles can develop over time. Combine the reflective properties with no maintenance (no debris in gutters clogging ventilation) and you'll see modest but real energy savings year-round. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating is proof third parties verify the difference.
