Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Kuster, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kuster
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kuster, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kuster.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads in Kuster winters?
Yes—Interlock metal roofing is engineered for the snow and freeze-thaw cycles Kuster experiences. With about 398 cm of snow annually and roughly 96 freeze-thaw days per year, your roof faces real seasonal stress. Aluminum's light weight (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, yet it's covered under a warranty that includes snow load protection. The four-way interlocking panels shed snow effectively while staying locked tight—no movement, no leaks during thaw cycles.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Washington damage an aluminum roof?
Aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw cycling because it contains no iron and cannot rust—the material's oxide layer self-heals when exposed to the elements. In a climate with 96 freeze-thaw days yearly and about 535 mm of rain, wood shingles crack and curl, asphalt granules shed, and steel corrodes. Aluminum stays dimensionally stable. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) protects against the UV exposure during Kuster's 3,289 annual sunshine hours, ensuring your roof resists degradation through every seasonal transition.
Can a metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest?
No—Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust, even in the wet PNW climate. The material is naturally corrosion-resistant; when scratched, its oxide layer self-heals automatically. Interlock panels receive a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish for extra protection, especially valuable where wind gusts reach 102 km/h and moisture is constant at 535 mm rain per year. Steel roofs eventually corrode and fail. Aluminum panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998 without rust failure.
How does metal roofing hold up to Kuster's wind and storms?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Kuster's typical gusts reach 102 km/h, well within that safety margin. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically fastened and locked to its neighbors—no edge lift, no uplift failure during the wind events this region experiences. The system is tested and verified under ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (2025 reissue) for IBC/IRC compliance, giving you confidence that your roof meets current regional building code standards for wind resistance.
Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies owners for homeowner's insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and the product specs. In a region with occasional hail events, having a non-penetrating, non-degrading roof surface is peace of mind. Unlike asphalt shingles that bruise and lose granules, aluminum maintains its integrity and resale appeal through impact events.
How long does metal roofing last, and what does the warranty cover?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty and the material's resistance to Kuster's freeze-thaw cycling (96 days yearly), you're buying your last roof. Homeowners installing metal roofing today expect the system to outlast mortgages and outlast most other home systems by decades.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
The lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, 50 years transferable for the next) and the material's durability make metal roofing cost-effective over time. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–20 years in Kuster's wet, freeze-thaw climate; you'll replace them two or three times during the life of an aluminum roof. Add maintenance costs (algae cleaning, granule loss, repairs), and asphalt becomes expensive. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or get 10% off installation. That financing option helps spread the cost while you eliminate the tear-off-to-landfill cycle and the hassle of future replacements.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need in Kuster's rainy climate?
Interlock metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—no roof cleaning, no algae treatment, no granule loss to manage like asphalt. The aluminum resists moss growth, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is verified CALGreen-compliant for reduced maintenance. In a region receiving about 535 mm of rain annually across 3,289 sunshine hours, the two-sided coating protects against both wet and UV exposure. Occasional gutter clearing and visual inspection are all you need. Many homeowners find themselves doing less roof-related work than they ever did with traditional shingles, giving you more time to enjoy your home rather than manage repairs.
Does metal roofing help reduce energy costs?
Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient color options feature thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (such as Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. While Kuster's winters are cool (mean 8.5°C) and long, reflective roofing reduces summer cooling loads and lowers energy bills during the warmer months. The material's light weight (Shake ~0.58 lb/sq ft) also means easier air circulation under the roof. Aluminum conducts heat away from the home more efficiently than asphalt, which absorbs and radiates heat inward. Over decades, that efficiency translates to lower utility costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Kuster and the surrounding area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Lewis County region and beyond since 1997, specializing in Interlock aluminum panel systems. They understand local weather patterns—the 398 cm of annual snow, the wind gusts to 102 km/h, and the freeze-thaw cycles that define this area—and install to the ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards that keep your roof performing through Kuster winters. Their long regional history means they know the building code requirements, local permit processes, and the specific installation techniques that maximize your warranty coverage.
