Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Kremlin, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kremlin
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kremlin, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kremlin.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Kremlin?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed snow safely and resist ice damming even in climates that average about 398 cm of snow annually. The lightweight design (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow load stresses the structure far less than traditional tile or slate. Proper installation includes optional snow guards if you need them. The aluminum won't degrade from freeze-thaw cycling—unlike asphalt, which cracks and splits in Kremlin's typical 96 freeze-thaw days per year, aluminum simply expands and contracts without damage.
Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel does?
Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and rusts. Interlock panels are made from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which forms a thin protective oxide layer on its surface. If that layer is scratched, it self-heals in minutes when exposed to air. Even in wet climates like Kremlin (about 535 mm annual rainfall), this natural protection lasts indefinitely. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant paint maintenance to prevent rust failure—a cost and hassle aluminum eliminates entirely.
Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement is needed in the vast majority of homes. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional framing. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft causes minimal structural demand. Your contractor will perform a simple visual roof-deck inspection to confirm suitability, but the light weight of aluminum is one of its primary advantages. Asphalt, by comparison, adds equivalent weight without the durability.
How does a metal roof hold up to freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature changes but returns to its exact original dimensions with zero permanent deformation. Kremlin experiences roughly 96 freeze-thaw days per year, which severely degrades asphalt shingles—they curl, crack, and split. Interlock aluminum won't crack, curl, or develop the micro-fractures that let water into asphalt. The 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy is specifically selected for extreme temperature cycling. Combined with the 30-year Alunar PVDF coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested), your roof performs identically in year 20 as in year one.
Are metal roofs safe in high winds?
Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Kremlin's typical gusts reach about 102 km/h, and the four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors, creating a unified system far stronger than the fastening points of traditional shingles. UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating also indicates exceptional impact and panel-holding strength. The interlocking geometry distributes wind force across the entire roof, not individual fasteners, so uplift and flutter are eliminated. This is why metal roofs are standard on buildings in notorious wind zones.
Does hail damage metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance costs?
No—Interlock aluminum achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest available impact rating, meaning it withstands hailstones up to 1.5 inches without perforation. The Guardian warranty even covers hail perforation up to that size. Many insurers recognize this non-denting resistance and offer premium discounts or removal of hail deductibles for Class 4-rated metal roofs. Because Kremlin sits in a region with occasional severe weather, this protection is tangible. Asphalt shingles typically fail under similar impact. Ask your insurer for a quote comparison once your metal roof is installed—savings often offset part of the material cost.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need?
Minimal—typically just an annual inspection for debris and leaf buildup in gutters, similar to asphalt. Unlike wood shakes (which require periodic sealing and are prone to rot and splitting), Interlock panels need no sealant, re-coating, or repair work. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Kremlin's damp climate (about 535 mm rain annually), asphalt loses granules year after year; aluminum simply sheds water. The Guardian warranty covers cracking, splitting, and loss of impact resistance, so maintenance is reduced to what a visual inspection reveals.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Yes—over the roof's lifetime, aluminum costs significantly less. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years and requires tear-off and landfill disposal (both recurring costs); Interlock aluminum lasts at least 50 years with no replacement in sight, ending the tear-off cycle. The Guardian's non-prorated lifetime limited warranty for the first owner (and 50-year transferable coverage for the next) means you buy this roof once. Current regional promotion includes no payments, no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Factor in energy savings from energy-efficiency reflective coatings (up to 0.55 solar reflectance on Aged Copper Penny), lower maintenance, and potential insurance discounts—the economics favor aluminum decisively.
Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it like dark asphalt. Rated colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Kremlin, which averages about 3,289 sunshine hours per year, this reflectance reduces absorbed heat and lowers cooling demand. While Kremlin's mean temperature of 8.5°C limits air-conditioning loads compared to hot climates, lighter-colored aluminum still outperforms dark asphalt in reducing heat buildup in spring and early fall. The color variety—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, Standing Seam—lets you choose aesthetics and thermal performance together.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Substantially better—Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, so it never enters a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–25 years and typically sent to waste sites where they persist for decades. Over a homeowner's lifetime, you'll undergo 2–4 asphalt tear-offs; with aluminum, zero. The recycled content of new aluminum panels and the end-of-life recyclability eliminate the disposal burden. ICC-ES ESR-1790 and CALGreen verification confirm Interlock meets reduced-maintenance, sustainable-building standards. Choosing metal breaks the wasteful asphalt replacement cycle and supports circular material use—a concrete environmental advantage with no trade-off in performance.
