Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Warm Beach, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |

What our customers are saying:
We have the InterLock sigh out front and are awaiting the chance for a video flyover. I would hire them again.
The product is fine but it was just the service to put it on the roof that was horrible. We were treated so poorly considering we spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on our roof. They lied to us over and over saying they were going to be there the next day then they don't show up. We call and they bring out one guy. This happened over and over as well. We are not satisfied with the company who sent the workers out because they lied to us but the workers were fine. They could improve on communicating truthfully. They said they would deliver materials on Friday and did not come for about a week.
To Whom It May Concern: It is our pleasure to highly recommend Ross and Interlock Roofing for your next roofing project. Our roof was installed in August of 2017 it’s amazing the performance it provides to our home. The temperature indoors during the summer is cooler allowing energy savings, our Shake profile stands out with lasting beauty and durability. The installation crew is as great as the product they are polite and professional and went above our expectations they answered all our questions with no concerns. Our investment to have Interlock roof on our home gives us Peace of mind knowing for years to come we will never have to worry about our roof again. We would not hesitate to recommend Interlock Roofs and their awesome products to anyone looking for a new roof.
The sales guy was great and I love the product.
Clean up when you are done!!!
I really really want to love my roof, I really do, and I'm almost there, only time will tell for sure. Roofs are an expensive investment literally on your most important asset. You need to have a product you can trust installed correctly to protect you, your assets in the home, and your family. You have choices on what kind of roof to put on and costs all over the place. Interlock aluminum roofing is not cheap, was not the most expensive quote I got, nor the lowest. The things that sold me were material, as aluminum will not rust, and being in Washington state, we get rain often so this was a factor. And then their warranty claims, which sadly I was lied directly to my face by their sales reps. Now don't get me wrong, their warranty is still very good, it was represented to me as even better than it actually is which really pisses me off. Had the sales reps told me the truth, I think I'd still have gone with their product because as I said their warranty is still very good. I hope the product does its job and I never have to use the warranty, that's the real goal here. Better communication, when crew was to arrive, when they would leave, if they leave will they return again that day.
Client Service
Interclock could have improved on time to complete the project. There were about 4 days when the weather was favorable but no worker showed up to do any work. There was no communication from Interlock as for the reason why. The price increase from 46k to 48k was unexpected. We were determined to go with Interlock for a new roof but an opportunity to refinance our home from 5/1 ARM to fixed rate presented itself so took care of that first. Also, it would have been nice to have a final walk-through at the completion of the project before the final payment.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Warm Beach
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Warm Beach, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Warm Beach.
How does a metal roof handle Warm Beach's winter snow and ice?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface and thermal properties prevent ice dams from forming. Warm Beach receives about 37 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 31 freeze-thaw cycles each year—conditions that crack asphalt shingles and trap water underneath. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind loads, so snow guard brackets install securely if you choose them. The lightweight construction (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrades are needed, and the panels' thermal mass helps prevent the freeze-thaw damage that shortens traditional roof life.
Will a metal roof leak in Warm Beach's heavy rain?
The four-way interlocking system creates a sealed edge-to-edge bond that prevents water penetration, even under Warm Beach's 1148 mm of annual rainfall. Water runs downslope into the overlaps rather than against them; the panel design directs it toward gutters and away from seams. When installed over solid decking and roofing underlayment (the standard method), the system functions identically to an asphalt roof in wet conditions—no hollow drums or leaks. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the design meets IBC/IRC water-shedding requirements for your region's heavy precipitation.
Can Warm Beach's wind gusts damage a metal roof?
Warm Beach experiences typical gusts around 112 km/h, well within the design envelope of Interlock panels. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges, distributing wind pressure across the entire roof rather than concentrating it on fasteners alone. Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. This redundant locking mechanism is why metal roofing outperforms asphalt in coastal and exposed conditions—the system becomes stronger under pressure, not weaker.
Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; iron is the element that oxidizes and creates rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched. This is why Interlock has shipped panels from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998 with zero rust failures. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exposure, and the two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating adds 30 years of fade and chalk protection—a critical advantage in Warm Beach's 2898 sunshine hours annually.
How does Interlock metal roofing perform in hail, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 performance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the material resists impact damage that would compromise asphalt or wood shakes. Contact your insurer with the product specs to explore potential premium reductions. In Warm Beach's 31 annual freeze-thaw days and variable spring weather, hail resistance is part of a broader durability story: the metal won't split, curl, or lose impact resistance over time the way traditional materials do.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Slate profile is just 0.41 lb/sq ft. Most homes can support this weight without modification, and the panels install directly over existing roofing in most cases, saving labor and eliminating tear-off debris. This lightweight advantage becomes clear when you compare it to traditional tile: your home's frame was never built to carry that load, but metal delivers the visual style without the structural expense. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation over existing asphalt shingles is code-compliant in Warm Beach.
What warranty does Interlock offer, and does it transfer if I sell?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from completion date. This transfer provision adds real value at resale and reflects the product's durability: Interlock has been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, giving it over 25 years of field history. Combined with Warm Beach's 37 cm annual snow and 2898 sunshine hours, the roof's ability to resist freeze-thaw cycling and UV exposure means the warranty isn't optimistic—it's backed by proven performance in similar climates.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofs require virtually no maintenance beyond standard gutter cleaning. Asphalt shingles need inspection after storms and replacement within 15–20 years; wood shakes demand regular treatment to prevent rot and insect damage; tile requires periodic resealing. Interlock's aluminum panels don't curl, split, or lose granules. The two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists weathering for 30 years, so you won't power-wash or re-coat the roof. In Warm Beach's 1148 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this low-maintenance profile eliminates the seasonal inspections and repairs that add up over decades—one roof replaces a succession of short-lived alternatives.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?
A metal roof costs more initially but eliminates the tear-off-to-landfill cycle of asphalt replacement every 15–25 years. Over 50 years, you'll buy asphalt multiple times; you'll buy metal once. Factor in avoided maintenance (no annual inspections or repairs in Warm Beach's freeze-thaw environment), potential insurance discounts from Class 4 hail resistance, and energy savings from energy-efficient colors that reflect heat rather than absorb it. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated lifetime coverage removes replacement risk for the original owner. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—makes the initial cost more manageable while the math strongly favors long-term ownership.
Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors feature thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance as high as 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms this performance. In Warm Beach's 2898 annual sunshine hours, summer cooling loads are moderate, but the reflective advantage adds up month to month and year to year, especially if you have air conditioning or face south-facing heat gain. The metal's smooth surface also allows air circulation underneath when ventilation gaps exist, further reducing attic temperatures. Even in a temperate climate, these passive thermal benefits compound over decades.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Warm Beach’s climate?
Yes. Warm Beach averages about 37 cm of snow, 1148 mm of rain, roughly 31 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 112 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
