Timely, courteous, cleaned up daily. The roof is for life ... so sadly I can only refer friends to interlock.

Review: November 25, 2020 Completion: November 1, 2020

It's a great service and a high quality product. They could improve on having more periodic checking during the job, as opposed to once it was finished and they were having to redo it in areas that were not satisfactory.

The service was professional. The writing of the contract should have been more clear about what to expect. I did not receive something I was promised , I got it in the end but it was a hassle.

I think the only challenge we had was the weather. They were doing the work in the winter and it was a challenge. Although it took longer than anticipated, that was out of their control. I will recommended Interlock Roofing to anyone who asks.

Review: February 29, 2012 Completion: February 20, 2012

I would like to take this time to say thank you for a job well done. From sales, to project manager, to roofer, the team worked in a highly professional manner. The job was organized efficiently and completed in a timely manner. All materials on completion were taken away within the next day. Michael's work was efficient and very well done. I am extremely satisfied with the quality and workmanship of the roof. I particularly like the finishing touches on the roof edges and around the chimney's flashing. Michael did an excellent job! My home now has a much better cleaner profile. I am also surprised at how there is no extra noise on a rainy day - and we do have those rainy days here on the west coast. I had actually thought this may be an issue with the home being 80 years old as no extra sound proofing allowable, so am very pleased with the outcome. Once again thank you for a job well done.

Review: May 11, 2009 Completion: May 11, 2009

Now that you have completed the job of replacing our old cedar shingle roof with an Interlock Standing Seam aluminum roof, Jayne and I are writing to express our thanks for the work that you have done. At all times throughout the project, we have been impressed by your professionalism, work ethic and attention to detail. We would also like to thank you for taking efforts to minimize the disruption caused by us by the work and for carrying out several extra jobs (including the replacement of light bulbs in hard to reach lights under the eaves of our house and several sections of corroded downpipe) willingly and efficiently. We are pleased to have had you in charge of the work on our roof and would have no hesitation in strongly recommending you and your team to anyone else wishing to install a new roof.

Review: January 7, 2025 Completion: December 31, 2024

Fantastic service, clear & consistent communication, and a beautiful, durable product. Simply one of the best contractors we have ever worked with. We got quotes from numerous leading roofers for this job. Mike from Interlock was the only one who came to our house, spent an evening patiently explaining every aspect of the job, showed us many photos and described some of the technical aspects in ways that were easy to understand. When we called back with more questions, he was always available and always super helpful. For the installation, Mike recognized that we had an old house and were concerned about the workmanship. He sent us an experienced crew led by Oswaldo that went above and beyond any expectation we could have had. They not only protected our home but also took pains to protect the neighbors' homes beside ours. They gave us near daily briefings and showed us photos of everything they found on our roof and their work throughout. The job ended up taking much longer than anticipated because our roof had many problems that needed to be repaired. Oswaldo and Mike worked with us to make sure everything was taken care of and repaired before the new roofing was put on. They proved flexible and extremely diligent, communicating effectively throughout. We are thrilled with the result and grateful for all their hard work. We would not hesitate to use their services again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for roofers. As a bonus, we're delighted that we will never send another huge pile of asphalt shingles to the landfill again!

Definitely not the cheapest roof but looks good! The people worked hard during the hottest days of summer and cleaned up after the job was done! It rained heavily two days after the roof was finished! No concerns! Well done!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Dundarave

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Dundarave, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Dundarave.

How does a metal roof handle the snow load in this area?

Interlock panels shed snow efficiently because aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so your existing structure supports the roof without reinforcement, even under Dundarave's typical 152 cm annual snowfall. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration during the region's 37 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled release rather than sliding. This combination means you avoid the ice-dam problems that plague heavier asphalt or wood roofs in Metro Vancouver's wet, cold winters.

Why does aluminum roofing outperform steel in coastal and wet climates?

Steel rusts because iron oxidizes; aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that automatically repairs itself when scratched, making it ideal for Dundarave's 2471 mm of annual rainfall and salt-air exposure near the coast. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) finished with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides—extra protection against salt spray. This dual-layer defense is why Interlock panels have been installed on everything from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations for over 25 years without rusting.

Can a metal roof withstand Metro Vancouver's wind and storm gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—far exceeding Dundarave's typical gusts of 95 km/h. The overlapping design locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering matters in your region, where winter storms regularly test roofing durability. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (highest available) and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirm performance under extreme conditions.

How does metal roofing handle Dundarave's heavy annual rainfall?

Interlock panels are engineered to channel water downward through the interlocking seams, which are designed tighter than the panel profile itself—water always flows down, never back. With 2471 mm of rain annually, leak protection is critical; the four-way interlocking and proper underlayment installation create a redundant barrier. Combined with a solid deck and Class I or Class II underlayment, your roof stays dry through Dundarave's wettest seasons. This is why Interlock panels have been trusted on coastal homes since 1998 without widespread leak complaints in similar climates.

What's the real maintenance difference between metal and asphalt or tile roofing?

Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles degrade from UV exposure (Dundarave gets 2788 sunshine hours per year), curl in freeze-thaw cycles, and need regular inspections and repairs. Wood shakes split and rot in wet climates. Interlock aluminum resists all three: the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and aluminum never rots or splits. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspections suffice. The Guardian warranty even covers maintenance-related defects for the original owner's lifetime, and your roof likely becomes your last roof purchase.

Is metal roofing more cost-effective than asphalt over the roof's lifespan?

Over 40–50 years, metal roofing is substantially cheaper than repeated asphalt replacements. A typical asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in wet climates like Dundarave (2471 mm rain, 37 freeze-thaw days annually accelerate degradation), requiring tear-off and replacement twice in that span. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and 30-year coating protection mean one installation covers decades. Factor in no structural reinforcement needed (aluminum weighs 96% less than concrete tile), lower maintenance, and today's regional promotion—interest-free payments for 3 months plus at least $2499 savings—and the total cost of ownership strongly favors metal.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—every major failure mode except neglect or storm damage beyond UL Class 4. It's also one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, a significant resale advantage. The Alunar coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested). This means your roof is protected for your ownership and adds value if you sell; few roofing products offer both lifetime owner coverage and a half-century transfer term.

Do I need to reinforce my house to install a metal roof over asphalt shingles?

No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without structural modifications. Even the heavier Shake profile (0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to asphalt's cumulative weight or tile's load. This lightweight advantage cuts labor costs and eliminates expensive structural engineering. For Dundarave homes, this means a faster installation timeline and no disruption to your home's foundation or framing, making metal roofing accessible to a wider range of older and newer properties alike.

Can I get the look of slate, cedar shake, or tile in a metal roof?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each engineered to replicate the authentic texture and shadow-line depth of those materials. The interlocking aluminum panels are available in multiple colors and finishes, so your home's exterior matches your design vision without the weight, fragility, or maintenance of the original materials. All profiles carry the same durability: ICC-ES ESR-1790 code compliance, UL 2218 Class 4 hail resistance, 120 mph wind warranty, and the Guardian Warranty. In Dundarave's climate, you get architectural beauty that won't split (like wood), crack (like tile), or degrade (like asphalt).

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Dundarave and the surrounding area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. has served the Metro Vancouver region since 1983, installing panels manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998. This local expertise means your installer understands Dundarave's specific climate—2471 mm annual rainfall, 152 cm snow, and 95 km/h gusts—and knows how to optimize panel orientation, underlayment selection, and drainage for wet coastal conditions. Direct access to local support, warranty service, and regional promotions (currently interest-free 3-month financing plus at least $2499 installation savings) is a practical advantage over distant suppliers. Your roof is backed by a manufacturer and installer both rooted in BC.
