| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |

| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lexington
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lexington, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lexington.
How does a metal roof handle Lexington's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, slippery surface naturally sheds snow faster than asphalt, and the interlocking four-way panel design prevents ice dams from forming along seams. Lexington experiences about 94 cm of snow annually and roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles over time. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't split or curl; it expands and contracts uniformly, so repeated freezing and thawing actually strengthen the interlocked seams rather than weaken them. With optional snow guards, you control snow discharge safely.
Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel metal roofs?
Aluminum contains no iron—the element that corrodes into rust—so rust is physically impossible on an Interlock roof. Instead, aluminum develops a paper-thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath; if scratched, this layer self-heals in air. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) adds 30 years of warranty protection against fading and chalking, making it doubly resistant in Lexington's 843 mm of annual rainfall. Steel roofs require constant vigilance; aluminum roofs never do.
Will freeze-thaw damage shorten my metal roof's life in Minnesota winters?
No; freeze-thaw cycles actually have minimal impact on aluminum because the metal moves uniformly with temperature changes and doesn't absorb water the way wood or asphalt does. With approximately 81 freeze-thaw days per year in Lexington, asphalt shingles absorb moisture, crack, and split—but aluminum's non-porous surface never holds water. The interlocking panel system allows controlled expansion without stressing seams. Your roof's durability depends on proper installation over a solid deck, which Interlock has perfected since 2001 across Minnesota's harshest winters.
Can a metal roof withstand Lexington's wind gusts and storms?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, and Lexington's typical gusts reach about 95 km/h (59 mph)—well within that margin. The interlocking geometry distributes wind load across multiple panels rather than relying on fasteners alone, so your roof becomes stronger in high wind. The panels lock mechanically in four directions, preventing lift and flutter. If severe weather occurs, you're covered: the Guardian Warranty includes wind damage protection when installed to specification.
Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs?
Interlock carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because claims are far rarer than with asphalt. Over Lexington's 10-year climate normal (843 mm rain, 94 cm snow), metal roofs accumulate minimal weather damage compared to shingles that lose granules and split. Contact your insurer for specific rate information, but the combination of impact resistance and longevity typically improves your insurance profile.
Is my house strong enough to support a metal roof, or do I need structural reinforcement?
Almost certainly not. The Interlock Tile profile—which replicates the look of heavy concrete or clay tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than the real material. Even the weightier Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Because aluminum is so light, you can install it over most existing asphalt roofs without reinforcement, saving thousands in structural work. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms installation feasibility on standard residential framing, so a roofer can assess your home without expecting hidden costs.
Will a metal roof lower my cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat; Aged Copper Penny achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning less heat enters your attic and air conditioning runs less. Lexington receives about 3110 hours of sunshine annually, so summer heat rejection is meaningful. Cool roofs address the asphalt problem: dark shingles absorb heat and radiate it into your home. The reflective finish on Interlock panels works year-round to moderate interior temperature swings. Over a roof's life, this reduces energy waste, particularly during warm months.
How long does a metal roof really last, and what's the Guardian Warranty?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty provides a non-prorated, lifetime limited material warranty to the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty is also one-time transferable, providing the second owner 50 years of coverage from completion. No expiration date for the first owner means you keep the same roof for life, and resale adds value because the next buyer inherits substantial protection. This stands apart from asphalt's 15-25 year lifespan and typical prorated warranties that shrink with time.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Interlock aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles (which lose granules, crack, and need frequent inspection), cedar shake (which splits, rots, and needs staining), or clay tile (which breaks), aluminum is inert—it doesn't degrade from weather. Annual inspection for debris is sensible; occasional rinsing removes dirt. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish keeps the coating intact for 30 years without refinishing. In Lexington's 843 mm annual rainfall, asphalt roofs develop moss and algae; metal doesn't. Over a 50-year span, you'll spend a fraction of what competitors' materials demand in repairs and upkeep.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in the Lexington, Minnesota area?
Interlock Metal Roofing has served the region since 2001, bringing over two decades of Minnesota-specific experience to Anoka County and surrounding areas. The local team understands how to install and maintain roofs through Lexington's 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 95 km/h wind gusts. They're familiar with the four-way interlocking panel system, proper deck preparation, and how to integrate snow guards or ice-melt systems for local conditions. Contact the local installer for a site assessment, warranty details, and a timeline tailored to your home's needs.
