Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Spring Lake Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Spring Lake Park.

How does metal roofing handle Spring Lake Park's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently without degradation. Spring Lake Park averages about 94 cm of snow annually and around 81 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack asphalt and wood. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust or corrode as the roof cycles through thaw and refreeze. The panels' lightweight design (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) handles snow load safely without structural reinforcement. Optional snow guards keep accumulated snow from sliding unexpectedly.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Minnesota winters with salt and moisture?

No. Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal and repairs itself when scratched. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against fading—adds a second barrier. Spring Lake Park's 843 mm annual rainfall and 94 cm snow create moisture exposure that steel roofs cannot tolerate. Aluminum thrives in it.

Does freeze-thaw damage aluminum the way it damages asphalt and wood shingles?

No. Aluminum's non-porous structure means water cannot penetrate and expand during freeze cycles. Asphalt and wood both absorb moisture, which causes cracking, splitting, and curling as temperatures swing above and below freezing. Spring Lake Park experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days each year—enough to significantly shorten the life of traditional roofs. Aluminum roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy was engineered specifically to withstand metal fatigue from thermal cycling. The result is a roof that performs identically in year one and year fifty.

Is metal roofing secure in Minnesota wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph. Spring Lake Park's typical gusts reach about 95 km/h (59 mph), well within the roof's rated capacity. The mechanical interlock—not just fasteners—distributes wind load across the entire panel network, preventing uplift or separation. This design earned ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (2025 reissue) for code compliance. High-wind regions frequently choose metal for its proven performance; the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) actually reduces structural stress compared to heavy tile or slate.

Does hail damage metal roofing, and can it affect my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on both homeowners and comprehensive policies. Aluminum's density and the interlocking panel geometry absorb impact energy without cracking or deforming like asphalt, slate, or tile. Many insurers recognize this durability and lower premiums accordingly. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification; many discount programs are underutilized simply because homeowners don't mention the upgrade.

What's the real lifespan of Interlock metal roofing, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated material coverage for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which adds measurable value at resale. Installed panels have performed since 1998 without degradation of structural integrity. The coating itself is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). In Spring Lake Park's climate of 843 mm rain, 94 cm snow, and 81 freeze-thaw days annually, you're looking at a roof that outlasts three to four asphalt replacements.

Does metal tile roofing require reinforcing the roof structure?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without modification. A concrete tile roof weighs 10-15 lb/sq ft and often requires structural upgrades costing $5,000–$15,000. The lightweight aluminum design eliminates that burden entirely. Spring Lake Park homeowners can upgrade to the aesthetic of traditional tile while keeping their existing framing intact. This also speeds installation and reduces labor cost, making the retrofit practical for homes built before modern load-bearing standards.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt requires regular inspection, occasional nail-pop repair, and moss/algae treatment. Wood shakes split and curl, demanding frequent replacement and fungicide application. Tile cracks and requires regrouting. Aluminum simply sheds water and debris; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is rated for 30 years of fade and chalk resistance. Spring Lake Park's 3,110 annual sunshine hours and about 843 mm rain naturally rinse the roof. The four-way interlocking system means no fasteners to back out or loosen during 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year. Most owners never service it beyond routine gutter cleaning.

Can metal roofing really lower cooling costs in Minnesota?

Yes, with energy-efficient colors. Interlock offers profiles with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Spring Lake Park receives about 3,110 hours of sunshine annually—enough to make reflectance meaningful, especially during summer. Reflective metal roofs bounce heat back that asphalt absorbs and traps, reducing attic temperature by 20–30°F on clear days. This lowers air conditioning load and extends AC unit life. While Minnesota winters are long, the energy benefit applies during the 6-month warm season and saves money without sacrificing warmth retention in winter.

Is there a local installer I can work with for Interlock metal roofing in Spring Lake Park?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Spring Lake Park region since 2001, bringing over two decades of experience with Minnesota's climate conditions. The local team understands Anoka County's weather—843 mm annual rainfall, 94 cm snow, gusts to 95 km/h, and 81 freeze-thaw days per year—and how to install panels to ICC-ES ESR-1790 (2025) code compliance. Working with an established regional installer means faster service scheduling, warranty administration handled locally, and a company invested in its reputation within your community. Contact them for a site visit and estimate; they can assess your roof's existing condition and determine whether panels install directly over your current deck.
