Review: June 10, 2016 Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Shelter Island Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Shelter Island Heights, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Shelter Island Heights.

Will a metal roof hold up to Shelter Island Heights' freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts predictably with temperature swings, and the four-way interlocking panel design accommodates that movement without cracking or splitting. Your region experiences about 41 freeze-thaw days per year with mean temperatures around 12°C, plus roughly 53 cm of snow—conditions that degrade asphalt and wood shingles. Aluminum's oxide layer is impervious to moisture penetration, so ice buildup and melt cycles won't compromise the material. The ESR-1790 evaluation confirms structural performance across cold climates.

How does a metal roof handle snow and ice in this area?

Metal panels shed snow efficiently because of their smooth, sloped surface and lack of granule deterioration that traps moisture. Shelter Island Heights receives about 53 cm of snow annually, and the aluminum's light weight—just 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no structural reinforcement is needed even after heavy accumulation. The interlocking design prevents wind-driven snow intrusion. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control ice-dam runoff, and the solid deck beneath the panels provides the thermal continuity needed to prevent ice dams during the freeze-thaw cycles common here.

Can an aluminum roof rust in a coastal area like Shelter Island Heights?

No. Aluminum contains no iron and cannot rust, making it ideal for coastal and salt-air environments. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and when the surface oxide layer is scratched—during installation or storms—it self-heals automatically. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is applied to both sides of every panel for extra protection against salt spray and atmospheric corrosion common in Suffolk County. Steel roofs require paint touch-ups and rust monitoring; aluminum requires neither. Your roof will remain structurally sound and corrosion-free for generations.

Is a metal roof safe in high winds and nor'easters?

Yes. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Shelter Island Heights experiences typical daily-max winds around 28 km/h (17 mph), but gusts can reach 157 km/h (98 mph) during nor'easters. The interlocking system distributes wind loads across multiple panels and fastening points, preventing lift and separation. Unlike shingles that can peel or tear, the mechanical lock between panels keeps the roof intact. Interlock Roofing of America has installed these roofs locally since 2014 and understands nor'easter conditions; they'll ensure your installation meets all code requirements for your specific exposure.

Will hail damage an aluminum metal roof, and could it lower my insurance costs?

No—it's engineered for hail. The panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies you for homeowner's insurance discounts because the roof resists damage that would compromise asphalt or wood. Check with your agent about credits; many insurers recognize Class 4 ratings and offer premium reductions. With about 3207 annual sunshine hours and occasional thunderstorm activity across Suffolk County, a hail-resistant roof is practical insurance against costly claims.

Is an aluminum metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, when measured over the roof's life. Asphalt shingles typically last 20–25 years and require replacement, tear-off, and landfill costs each cycle. Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact damage. The transferable warranty gives the next owner 50 years of coverage, adding resale appeal. In Shelter Island Heights' freeze-thaw environment (41 days per year), asphalt curls and cracks early; aluminum doesn't. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Over 50 years, one aluminum roof replaces 2–3 asphalt roofs—aluminum becomes the last roof you install.

Can an aluminum roof reduce my cooling and heating costs?

Yes. energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 with thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and radiates into your home. In summer, this lowers cooling demand. Shelter Island Heights receives about 3207 annual sunshine hours, so reflective coatings deliver measurable savings during warm months. The solid deck and underlayment insulate as effectively as asphalt during winter. Because you're retaining one roof rather than replacing asphalt multiple times, you also avoid the embodied energy cost of manufacturing and shipping three roofs over 50 years. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates these products for residential applications.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing framing and rafters carry the load without modification. Compare that to slate or tile, which demand costly structural upgrades. The light weight also means Interlock Roofing of America can often install directly over your existing roof, eliminating tear-off labor, debris haul, and landfill fees. This reduces project cost and timeline. With roughly 1173 mm of annual rainfall and 53 cm of snow in Shelter Island Heights, that accumulated moisture weight on asphalt becomes a structural concern over decades; aluminum's lightness avoids that burden entirely.

Is an aluminum roof better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and has genuine end-of-life value, whereas asphalt shingles end in landfills. A typical residential asphalt tear-off produces 10–15 tons of waste per roof. Over 50 years, a Shelter Island Heights homeowner using asphalt generates 20–45 tons to landfill. Aluminum, by contrast, is reclaimed and remelted into new products with no loss of performance. The manufacturing footprint is recovered through recycling, whereas asphalt's only path is burial. With about 1173 mm of annual rainfall, gutters and drainage systems manage runoff better when the roof material itself is durable and won't shed granules into storm drains. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance and lower environmental impact.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Shelter Island Heights, and how long does installation take?

Interlock Roofing of America serves your area and has installed these roofs locally since 2014. They understand Shelter Island Heights' coastal salt-air exposure, freeze-thaw cycles (41 days annually), and nor'easter wind conditions. Installation timeline depends on roof size and complexity, but because aluminum panels are lightweight and often install directly over existing roofs, tear-off time and labor are minimal compared to asphalt. No structural reinforcement is required, so scheduling is faster. Contact Interlock Roofing of America for a site inspection; they'll assess your specific roof, provide a timeline, and explain financing options. Local expertise ensures your installation meets ESR-1790 code compliance and Guardian Warranty terms.
