What our customers are saying:
I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.
I wasted 4 months of my time thinking i will have a beautiful metal roof just to learn that interlock will not be able to do it after all
Interlock Roofing could have improved their communication.
I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.
We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.
I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.
My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.
To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Shelter Island
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Shelter Island, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Shelter Island.
Will a metal roof hold up through Shelter Island's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes — aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens it in freeze-thaw conditions rather than degrading. Shelter Island experiences about 41 freeze-thaw days per year, which can crack asphalt and split wood shakes, but aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without developing stress fractures. The four-way interlocking panels allow that movement while maintaining watertight seams. The material has been installed successfully in Antarctic research stations, where thermal cycling is far more extreme than your 12.2°C annual mean temperature.
How does an aluminum roof handle Shelter Island's snow and ice?
The lightweight design prevents snow and ice from accumulating dangerously on your structure. Shelter Island receives about 53 cm of snow annually, but because the Slate or Shake profile weighs only 0.41 to 0.58 lb/sq ft—96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—your home's framing carries no extra burden even when snow load peaks. The smooth, low-friction surface actually sheds snow faster than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation. You can add snow guards for safety without needing structural reinforcement.
Can an aluminum roof rust in Shelter Island's coastal salt air?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. This matters tremendously on Shelter Island, where coastal salt air accelerates corrosion in steel roofs and ferrous metals. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel for extra defense in salt-air environments, and that coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Your roof will never develop the orange streaks or structural weakening that iron-based metals face near the ocean.
Is a metal roof secure in Shelter Island's wind gusts?
Absolutely — the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, well beyond Shelter Island's typical gust speeds of about 157 km/h (98 mph). The overlapping design creates a mechanical lock on all four sides of each panel, so wind cannot peel them away or compress them upward. This four-way interlock also means no exposed fasteners that can loosen over time. Coastal storms are common here, but a properly installed Interlock roof remains secure where asphalt shingles would lift or blow away.
With Shelter Island's 1173 mm of annual rainfall, how do you prevent leaks?
The four-way interlocking panels create a continuous mechanical seal that channels water down and away without relying on sealants that degrade. Shelter Island receives over 1173 mm of rain per year—well above the U.S. average—so your roof must shed water reliably every day. The overlapping panel design means water cannot be driven backward or upward into joints, even during heavy downpours or nor'easters. When installed to specification over a solid deck and underlayment (often over your existing roof), the system performs identically to asphalt in rain tests but lasts 3 to 5 times longer.
Will hail damage an aluminum metal roof, and can I save on insurance?
Interlock's aluminum roof carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Shelter Island's severe hail is less common than inland areas, coastal storms do occasionally produce large hail. Because the roof is non-combustible aluminum and carries Class A fire classification, many insurers offer discounts for metal roofing. Combined with the impact rating and 41-year durability (vs. 15–20 years for asphalt), this often results in lower premiums and a roof that survives what would total-loss an asphalt roof.
Is an aluminum roof really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over a 40-year horizon, aluminum costs far less because you install it once and never replace it. Asphalt shingles fail every 15 to 20 years in Shelter Island's damp, freeze-thaw climate (41 freeze-thaw days annually accelerate breakdown), forcing you to buy, remove, and dispose of multiple roofs in your lifetime. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and 50-year transferable term means no re-roofing bill during your ownership. Factoring tear-off labor, disposal, and reinstallation—typically $3,000 to $8,000 per cycle—aluminum becomes the last roof you buy and the most economical choice by year 25.
What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover, and how does the transfer work?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the main failure modes of inferior roofing. If you sell your home, the warranty becomes one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from installation date. This is unusually generous: most metal roofs either pro-rate warranties or limit transfers to 10–20 years. Because Interlock has been manufacturing since 1998 and installed panels everywhere from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations, this warranty reflects genuine confidence in durability under extreme conditions far worse than Shelter Island's 12.2°C mean temperature.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?
Virtually none—no annual inspections, no repairs, no replacements of degraded shingles. Asphalt requires regular inspections for curling and granule loss, wood shakes need annual treatment against moss and rot, and clay tile cracks and becomes porous over time. Aluminum simply sheds debris and salt spray naturally; annual rinsing with fresh water (especially after nor'easters) keeps it looking new. Because the roof is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and carries a 30-year coating warranty, you can confidently go 5 to 10 years between inspections. With Shelter Island's 1173 mm annual rainfall, the self-cleaning slope means you never need pressure washing or chemical treatments.
Does a metal roof actually save money on heating and cooling?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, lowering cooling costs in warmer months. Shelter Island receives about 3207 sunshine hours annually, and the Aged Copper Penny finish achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 with thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning it rejects the heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. On a 70°F day with strong sun, an asphalt roof can reach 160°F, forcing air conditioning to work harder; a reflective metal roof stays 20 to 40°F cooler. Over a 40-year lifespan, this translates to measurable energy savings and a smaller carbon footprint than asphalt, which absorbs heat and contributes to the urban heat island effect.
