Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Gales Addition, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Gales Addition
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Gales Addition, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Gales Addition.
Will a metal roof hold up through Gales Addition's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's non-corrosive properties make it ideal for your region's approximately 58 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike steel roofing, which rusts when moisture penetrates scratches, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against salt spray and moisture cycling. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms its durability under freeze-thaw stress. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, your roof resists the repeated moisture and temperature swings that degrade asphalt and wood shake.
How does a metal roof handle the heavy rain we get in this area?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed water in Gales Addition's heavy rainfall climate—averaging about 1350 mm annually—by design. Water flows off the locked seams rather than pooling or seeping through fastener holes as happens with traditional shingles. Installed over a solid deck with underlayment, the system performs identically to asphalt in rain protection but without asphalt's granule loss, which accelerates leaks over time. The interlocking geometry and overlapping profile coverage eliminate the weak points where pitched roofs commonly fail in sustained downpours.
Does snow buildup cause problems on a metal roof in our climate?
Snow load is not a structural concern on Interlock's aluminum panels, which weigh approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile)—about 96% lighter than traditional tile or slate. Gales Addition receives roughly 34 cm of snow annually; that weight poses no reinforcement need. The smooth panel surfaces can shed snow more readily than asphalt, though ice dams may form in eaves just as they do on any roof. Adding snow guards during installation prevents sliding and protects gutters. The lightweight design means your home's existing frame handles the snow load safely.
Can a metal roof survive the wind gusts we experience here?
Absolutely. Clallam County's typical gusts reach about 110 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners. This engineering is verified by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 and tested under IBC/IRC standards. Your roof won't peel or flutter in seasonal storms that compromise asphalt shingles, which often lift and tear at the seams.
Will my insurance company recognize the impact rating of a metal roof?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and your warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize Class 4 ratings for premium discounts or lower deductibles, especially in regions prone to hail. While Clallam County's 3155 annual sunshine hours and maritime climate make severe hail less frequent than in inland areas, the Class 4 certification provides measurable protection and proof of durability that underwriters value. Contact your agent with the UL listing (33876) and ESR-1790 report to explore available savings.
What warranty coverage does Interlock Metal Roofing offer?
The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This is one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of warranty coverage from completion. No other roofing material matches this combination of original-owner lifetime protection and transferable coverage. For homeowners in Gales Addition planning to stay long-term or build equity through resale, the Guardian Warranty eliminates the financial uncertainty of repair or replacement within your ownership period.
Why does aluminum never rust, and why does that matter for my roof?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust chemically. Instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a passive defense that strengthens over time. In coastal and salt-air environments like the Pacific Northwest, this property is critical: steel roofing corrodes rapidly when salt spray breaches the finish, but aluminum resists it. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF coating is applied to both sides of the panel for extra protection in salt air, and it's warranted 30 years against fading and chalking. Your roof will never develop the rust stains or perforation failures that plague steel competitors.
How much upkeep does a metal roof really need?
Significantly less than asphalt shingles, wood shake, or clay tile. Aluminum does not require re-coating, does not rot, split, or curl in Gales Addition's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles, and does not shed granules that clog gutters and accelerate decay. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection of fasteners and seals—standard for any pitched roof—constitute routine maintenance. The material itself is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Unlike asphalt, which degrades visibly after 15–20 years in PNW rainfall (about 1350 mm annually), your aluminum roof's finish and structural integrity remain unchanged decades into its lifespan.
How does the cost of a metal roof compare to asphalt over the long run?
Upfront cost is higher, but lifetime cost is lower. A quality asphalt roof lasts 15–25 years and requires replacement—meaning tear-off labor, landfill fees, and material cost recurring every generation. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty and transferable 50-year coverage eliminate that cycle. Energy savings also compound: energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55), reducing cooling loads during Gales Addition's 3155 annual sunshine hours. Over 50+ years, avoided replacements, lower energy bills, and insurance discounts offset initial premium, delivering the lowest total cost of ownership among pitched roofing options.
Can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles, and how long does it take?
Yes. Because Interlock aluminum panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile), installation over most existing roofs requires no structural reinforcement. A typical residential roof in Gales Addition installs within a few days, depending on square footage and complexity. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served this region since 1997 and handles removal, deck preparation, underlayment, and new panel installation to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification. Current promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—ask about timeline during your estimate.
