Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Knappton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Knappton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Knappton.

Will a metal roof handle Knappton's snow and ice without leaking or ice damming?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice reliably, and the smooth surface prevents ice dams even during Knappton's typical 11 freeze-thaw days per year. The panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so spring snow slides won't destabilize them. Unlike asphalt, aluminum doesn't soften in freeze cycles, maintaining watertight seams season after season. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control runoff on lower roofs.

Can metal roofing handle Knappton's heavy rainfall without leaks?

Absolutely. Knappton receives about 2211 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's interlocking panel design—combined with proper underlayment and flashing—channels water away from seams. The four-way interlock mechanism prevents water from entering panel joints, a strength asphalt cannot match over 20+ years. Installed correctly to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards, the roof handles continuous heavy rain without degradation. Your local Interlock installer has 27 years of regional experience ensuring leak-free installations.

Why does aluminum roofing outperform steel in Knappton's wet, salty climate?

Knappton sits in a wet marine climate with salt air, freeze-thaw cycling, and persistent moisture—exactly where steel rusts. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy contains no iron, so it simply cannot rust. The oxide layer that forms on aluminum self-heals when scratched, and the Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides) is warranted 30 years against corrosion. Over a typical 50-year service life, aluminum stays intact while steel requires maintenance or replacement.

Do I need to reinforce my house's framing for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can support a metal roof retrofit directly over existing asphalt shingles without structural upgrades. This matters in Knappton, where you avoid costly framing work and can often skip roof decking replacement. The lightweight design also means easier, faster installation and lower labor costs compared to traditional tile alternatives.

How does Interlock stand up to Knappton's wind and storm gusts?

Knappton's typical wind gusts reach 122 km/h, and Interlock is warranted for wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed per specification. The four-way interlocking panel system locks each piece to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This design has proven itself in Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air climates worldwide. Your region's storm exposure won't compromise the roof's integrity or warranty.

Will a metal roof help reduce heating and cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes. energy-efficiency-certified Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect heat instead of absorbing it like asphalt. In Knappton, with about 2892 sunshine hours annually and frequent cloud cover, the reflective coating reduces attic temperatures and cooling demand during warmer months, lowering your energy bills. Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs these performance claims. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings accumulate significantly.

Is a metal roof safe during hailstorms, and can I get insurance discounts?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 certification often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, offsetting roof cost over time. This matters in Knappton's variable spring weather. The non-combustible aluminum also typically earns you a Class A fire rating discount. Request a quote that factors in your insurer's metal roof credits; many regional agents recognize the long-term savings.

What's the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—non-prorated material coverage for rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. One-time transfer gives the next owner 50 years from completion. No asphalt roof offers this. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, Interlock roofs installed in 1998 are still performing. Expect 50+ years of service in Knappton's climate, making this the last roof you'll buy and the strongest resale asset a metal roof can offer.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Most Knappton homes can have Interlock installed directly over existing asphalt without stripping the old roof, saving 2–3 days of labor and eliminating landfill waste. Installation typically takes 3–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has 27 years of regional experience and handles all permitting and flashing details per ICC-ES ESR-1790. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the process affordable and hassle-free.

Is a metal roof really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, over the roof's lifetime. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock lasts 50+ years—that's two or three asphalt cycles. Factor in labor costs for multiple tear-offs, disposal fees (asphalt to landfill), reroofing disruption, and energy savings, and aluminum becomes cheaper per year of service. The non-prorated Guardian warranty, potential insurance discounts, and zero maintenance versus routine repairs on asphalt add financial cushion. Plus, the transferable 50-year term boosts resale value. One local Interlock roof ends the asphalt replacement treadmill.
