Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for North Nemah, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Some scrap materials left on the deck and a few nails too. I'm glad I found the nails before my tires did. Roof has received many compliments:
Interlock Roofing could've improved upon their clean up.
He was late. Brought his child and dog. We entertained both while he tried to high pressure sell us. Not professional at all.
They could have improved in having a site foreman on site at all times during installation. I DO NOT WANT MY RESPONSES TO BE SHARED WITH MY FIRST NAME AND LAST INITIAL OR ANONYMOUSLY!

Communication. I was told a crew would come the 2nd week of Jan. & there was no return of my phone calls or an email when they didn't show up then. All of a sudden one day a crew showed up unannounced & were going to Aberdeen to pick up the materials & come back to start the job-- I think this was a couple of weeks later. I cleaned up all the garbage left as the crew had no room to take it with them--they were great guys & very nice & efficient, but I took care of disposal of any bits & pieces of metal as well as a lot of paper stuff that I burnt. We have hired Interlock for numerous "roofs" on our farm over the years & even though the product is very expensive, it is a quality product. Most all of our farm buildings as well as both homes on our farm have Interlock roofs & anyone that visits & asks about the matching roofs, we explain Interlock products to them. Our repeated use of Interlock is quite a picture testimony of various shapes & sizes of Interlock roofing projects from an old 1880's Victorian Farmhouse to our small water pump house!!!
It's beautiful! It's a beautiful job, very well done! They could have improved in no areas. It's a beautiful job!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Nemah
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Nemah, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Nemah.
Will a metal roof handle North Nemah's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and smooth surface shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and freeze. North Nemah receives about 52 cm of snow annually with roughly 11 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that accelerate asphalt degradation but have no effect on aluminum, which cannot rust or rot. The panels' lightweight design means no structural reinforcement is needed, and optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer retained snow for insulation or aesthetics.
How does metal roofing perform in heavy rain like we get here?
Interlock panels are engineered to shed water faster than asphalt. North Nemah averages 2211 mm of rainfall yearly—among the highest in the region—but the four-way interlocking seams and overlapping panel design direct water away before it can pool. When installed to spec over a solid deck and underlayment by our local installer, the system is watertight. The aluminum oxide layer resists corrosion from coastal moisture, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (applied to both sides) protects against salt air and acidic rain for 30 years.
Can aluminum roofing rust or corrode in wet Pacific Northwest weather?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched—a process that strengthens the roof over time. Interlock uses 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, proven across 27 years of installations from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica. With 2211 mm of annual rain and frequent wind gusts to 122 km/h, your roof needs this corrosion immunity.
Will my metal roof blow off in North Nemah's storms?
No. Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. North Nemah's typical wind gusts reach 122 km/h—within that envelope—and the four-way interlocking system locks adjacent panels together so load spreads across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. Each panel connects on four sides, making the roof behave as one integrated unit. This rated performance is backed by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 and gives you peace of mind during the region's frequent coastal storms.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it can go directly over most existing roofs without additional framing. Even the heavier Shake profile comes in at 0.58 lb/sq ft. This is why the system has been installed over asphalt shingles, wood shake, and other existing coverings for over 25 years. Your home already supports its own weight; aluminum simply replaces heavier materials with no structural cost.
How does Interlock handle hailstones, and could this lower my insurance?
Interlock carries the highest hail rating available: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer premium discounts on metal roofs—details vary by policy and region, so ask your agent. North Nemah's maritime climate rarely produces severe hail, but the rating means your roof is protected beyond what asphalt or wood can offer. Class A fire rating (non-combustible aluminum) may also qualify you for additional savings depending on your carrier.
Will a metal roof keep my home cooler and lower energy bills?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect significantly more solar heat than asphalt absorbs. The Aged Copper Penny finish, for example, achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, and is Cool Roof Rating Council rated. While North Nemah enjoys only about 2892 sunshine hours per year compared to sunnier regions, that reflectance still reduces cooling load on warm days and allows your HVAC to work less hard. The result is measurable savings over the roof's life, especially as your home's other systems age.
What warranty comes with Interlock, and how long will the roof really last?
The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from project completion. Aluminum doesn't rot or degrade like asphalt or wood, and the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Real-world installations span 27 years and counting, with no failures from the material itself. This is truly the last roof you'll buy.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. You won't replace shingles every 15-20 years, re-coat wood shake every 10 years, or repair cracked tiles after freeze-thaw cycles. North Nemah's 11 annual freeze-thaw days and 2211 mm of rain cause rapid breakdown in traditional materials, but aluminum simply sheds water and ice. Occasional gutter cleaning and inspection are all you need. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile, meaning more years between service and lower lifetime cost of ownership.
Who installs Interlock roofing in North Nemah, and how long have they been in business?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific County region since 1997 and is your local, experienced installer. They understand North Nemah's rainfall patterns (2211 mm annually), wind gusts to 122 km/h, and freeze-thaw conditions that demand proper installation. Proper installation—deck preparation, underlayment, and four-way panel locking—is essential to warranty coverage and long-term performance. We're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, to help make your roof investment accessible now.
Is a metal roof a good choice for North Nemah’s climate?
Yes. North Nemah averages about 52 cm of snow, 2211 mm of rain, roughly 11 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 122 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
